UP DATE ON COCO

Sunday, July 18, 2010

As many of you know our little Miss Coco is now two years, five months and seven days old. I fell in love with her after having lost my wonderful Whiteangel at 18 years 4 months. I could not find any little one that was for me. I would go and look at them and hold them and there was no feeling. A lady at the market told me th at she had a little one at home she thought might be for me. Shw was not planning to sell her unless she found the perfect home for her. She brought her to see me two weeks later and when I held her she just shucked up my heart. Well that was it. Hubby said no we did not need a little one, but Coco and I discussed it and I told her to wrap him around her little paw and everything would be alright. She took my advice and had hm hooked in no time. All was well, until her 1 year 6 months visit to the vet. He vet changed her meds and wanted me to put her on the flea pill. Well, I did not thinking. She took it every month on the 24th. She had little black spots appear on her tummy, etc. and then the next months more and larger. Anyway on November 24th, I gave her the 4th pill and she was good until Monday. She then quit eating, drinking, etc. She became weak and I had to take her out and hold her so she could do her business. She just lay around on the floor and not really do anything. This little ball of energy was helpless.

Hubby said to take her to the vet and I told him no, she was having a reaction to her drugs and they would only give her more chemicals. I opened the frige, found a bottle of Danactive and poured it into a flat dish. She smelled, looked at me and drank it. About an hour later I heard her eating her food (which she had not done for 4 days), then drinking water. I gave her a bottle of Danactive for the next two weeks each day. She was eating, drinking walking around, etc. She was becoming active but not like she was before.

Within the last two weeks she is becoming her old self. I am noticing it in the stunts she pulls at home all the time. She pulls everything out she can reach. She found the end bag on the large trash bag and pulled them out for about 20 minutes before I realised she was getting into trouble. I went in and got after her, cleaned up and sent her for time out. She knows that her time out is either in her little bed in the bedroom or her open crate, but never on the bed, the chair or the sofa. When I raise my voice and point sheis off. She will try me by appearing near me in less than 5 minutes and I send her back.

People at market are remarking how much more she is like her old self. We came home this afternoon, left her in thouse and went out. We came home and Hubby opened the door and out she came. He was going on the roof to sweep it off. She was running around like crazy chasing the cats, etc. He called her name when he was on the roof and she could not locate him. This sit her into another running frinzy.

He finally came down and we sat and watched her run, jump play and be just her old self for 45 minutes. Hubby asked me does she ever run down. I said, she was run down and has just started doing this again. She can run, jump play for hours if it means she is happy and healthy. He agreed, he is noticing the improvement over the last month or so. I have been so afraid that she was damaged by the drugs and would not get over it. But the amount of energy she is able to expell at this time ad the thngs she can find to get into are amaxoing. I told Hubby she has reverted to her 6 months old level.

When she had all the reaction to the drugs, I decided I would not allow them to give her anything again. I have researched on the net and found so much information that things are detrimental to our little furry friends. As Hubby said, I had my Lady for 12.5 years before she passed from heart failure and our little Whiteangel for over 18 before she just passed from age. We never gave them all these drugs, just love and affection and that if what they gave us in return.

Coco is getting back to normal after 8 months and I will not allow her to have any of these thins again. She is on a holistic food, etc. and that is how it will be for her

HOT DAY AT M ARKET

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Well, it was extremely hot today, but he humidity was almost unbearable. I had a horrible headache when I woke up this morning. I took and alka sheltzer and it finally went away. We were fairly busy this morning, but after 2:00 there was not any customers. We waited until 3:30 and closed up our booth. We took little Miss Coco home and Hubby took me to the beach for an early dinner. I was really good and there was a great breeze there and the air conditioning was great.

It rained for a while and that dropped the temps about 10 degrees, but did not help the humidity. We came home and Hubby mowed the yard. Miss Coco wanted to be out there with him. It was driving her crazy. She would run and jump up on me push me with her paws and then run to the door. Finally, after he finished moving he opened t he door and let her outside while he trimmed along the fence and moved yard clipping etc to the road for pick up. Then they came in. Hubby took a shower and he took Coco and a beer and went out back to sit for about 20 minutes. They finally came in. Hubby went to check his email and Coco kept laying on a stool where she could watch me and then see Hubby if he came out of the other room. Finally he laid down and she kept watching me. Finally, when I went in showered and put on my jammies, she went and laid on the bed with Hubby. She was at ease as she knew we were not going anywhere for the night. She is such a little con artist and she has us figured out. She knows that when I get dress, there is a chance that we may be going somewhere so she will go and lay by the front door hoping to get out and in the car for a ride.

BUSY TODAY

Friday, July 16, 2010

We were busy this morning getting a lot of things done. Of course, it was Miss Coco's spa day and she was excited about that. We have lots to do on that side of town and only have about 3 hours to get it done, eat lucnh and pick up Her Royal Princess. Hubby needed some tools and lights for work, I needed to pick up a special order for me and we needed to eat and get Coco and be back home by one so Hubby could take a quick nap before leaving for work between 2 and 2:30...

We ate at a local little resturant that has wonderful sandwiches and salad for lunch. I like their chicken salad (which is something that I hardly ever eat out) I am one of those people that seek out local establishments not the chain resturants with the sam e food truck pulling up to the back door. While on the way to this little establishmnt, we passed a new place. We will go there next week. I feel that people support the chain resturants and that does not allow the indepenents enough customers to stay in business for very long. I am aware the resturant business is very difficult so that so many that start out with a great idea fall by the wayside. I prefer these places to eat and Hubby is also of the same mind. We are becoming well know in these places

A FULL DAY

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Well, we had so much to do before Hubby went to work today, I pulled weeds and he mowed the lawn. Miss Coco was hardly able to stant being inside while we were out. She has begun to stratch on a window. I hope it will not hurt the glass, but when she is in and we are out this her her way of letting us know that she is not with us,. Hubby is looking at where we need a walkway from the front steps to the vehicles. the walkway that was there when we purchased the house does not fit the pattern of our parking and entering the house. There was a garage in the back that the vehicle would not fit into. Our home is olde. We removed the garage as it was really bad, added a storage building with an extended cover for my vehicle. When you live in a small space you make every inch count. Our little bungalow is only 900 sq feet, but it has been good for us. The storage building and the carport works well for us. We have changed the layout of the front to allow him to pull up on the opposite side and park his truck. He needs a walkway to and from his vehichle and I need the one changed from the carport to the doorway.

We are making so many changes in the landscape of our house that it does not look anything like it did when we moved here. He did park behind my car but it was not working as we worked different hours and he would have to get up and move his truck for me to go to work. We are planning to add a border and stones where he parks wthin the next month. we called about the delivery of the graveland stone so that will happen next week. He is picking up the border stones this week so that we can get them installed before th rock and gravel arrive.

I am not sue how Miss Coco will take this change as this is her favorite spot to check out for strange cats and dogs to come up on our area. She likes to paw the sand and dirt in that area to let me know that someone else has crossed her property.

ME AND THE KID

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Well, hubby had to go to the doctoron the other side of town. We wanted to go to the vitamin store as my coupon was expiring. We got our regular vites etc. Came home and it was really hot outside.

Hubby left for work and I was really tired (do not know why had not done anything heavy after getting up) I had to lay down and take a nap. As soon as I did, Miss Coco got up next to me, checked me out and settled down really close to my bode. We both slept for about 2 hours (not normal for me) She settled in next to me and was really happy to be there.

Heat depletes you. And it energizes you, as in today. But anyway glad you and the kid got some needed sleep.
BTW sometimes "just getting up" can be exhausting as well.. Many hugs Laurie
