As many of you know our little Miss Coco is now two years, five months and seven days old. I fell in love with her after having lost my wonderful Whiteangel at 18 years 4 months. I could not find any little one that was for me. I would go and look at them and hold them and there was no feeling. A lady at the market told me th at she had a little one at home she thought might be for me. Shw was not planning to sell her unless she found the perfect home for her. She brought her to see me two weeks later and when I held her she just shucked up my heart. Well that was it. Hubby said no we did not need a little one, but Coco and I discussed it and I told her to wrap him around her little paw and everything would be alright. She took my advice and had hm hooked in no time. All was well, until her 1 year 6 months visit to the vet. He vet changed her meds and wanted me to put her on the flea pill. Well, I did not thinking. She took it every month on the 24th. She had little black spots appear on her tummy, etc. and then the next months more and larger. Anyway on November 24th, I gave her the 4th pill and she was good until Monday. She then quit eating, drinking, etc. She became weak and I had to take her out and hold her so she could do her business. She just lay around on the floor and not really do anything. This little ball of energy was helpless.
Hubby said to take her to the vet and I told him no, she was having a reaction to her drugs and they would only give her more chemicals. I opened the frige, found a bottle of Danactive and poured it into a flat dish. She smelled, looked at me and drank it. About an hour later I heard her eating her food (which she had not done for 4 days), then drinking water. I gave her a bottle of Danactive for the next two weeks each day. She was eating, drinking walking around, etc. She was becoming active but not like she was before.
Within the last two weeks she is becoming her old self. I am noticing it in the stunts she pulls at home all the time. She pulls everything out she can reach. She found the end bag on the large trash bag and pulled them out for about 20 minutes before I realised she was getting into trouble. I went in and got after her, cleaned up and sent her for time out. She knows that her time out is either in her little bed in the bedroom or her open crate, but never on the bed, the chair or the sofa. When I raise my voice and point sheis off. She will try me by appearing near me in less than 5 minutes and I send her back.
People at market are remarking how much more she is like her old self. We came home this afternoon, left her in thouse and went out. We came home and Hubby opened the door and out she came. He was going on the roof to sweep it off. She was running around like crazy chasing the cats, etc. He called her name when he was on the roof and she could not locate him. This sit her into another running frinzy.
He finally came down and we sat and watched her run, jump play and be just her old self for 45 minutes. Hubby asked me does she ever run down. I said, she was run down and has just started doing this again. She can run, jump play for hours if it means she is happy and healthy. He agreed, he is noticing the improvement over the last month or so. I have been so afraid that she was damaged by the drugs and would not get over it. But the amount of energy she is able to expell at this time ad the thngs she can find to get into are amaxoing. I told Hubby she has reverted to her 6 months old level.
When she had all the reaction to the drugs, I decided I would not allow them to give her anything again. I have researched on the net and found so much information that things are detrimental to our little furry friends. As Hubby said, I had my Lady for 12.5 years before she passed from heart failure and our little Whiteangel for over 18 before she just passed from age. We never gave them all these drugs, just love and affection and that if what they gave us in return.
Coco is getting back to normal after 8 months and I will not allow her to have any of these thins again. She is on a holistic food, etc. and that is how it will be for her
