Way to go!!! I've been maintaining my 80 pound weight loss for 6 years now but have never been able to get going to lose the last 30 pounds. Having known you through many of the ups and downs...I am so happy for you...and maybe just a wee bit JEALOUS!!! It always comes back to just doing what needs to be done...no matter how much else is going on. I can always make time for others...why would I not make time for myself?

Proud to know ya! emoticon

Fall Doldrums

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Whew--down to 154 (from 183 in March)!!! Dag, the 14s I just got before school started are getting loose. Feeling great. Eventually, I need to get back to exercising because the bumpy, jiggley, flab is really soft, floppy, and squishy now. emoticon

Stress load at work is huge, staying waaayyyy... too late doesn't help. Broke down and went to dinner last night at my fav Mexican restaurant. Veggie fajitas, fresh guacamole and a couple skinny margaritas veggieteach.wordpress.com

And I'm going to the movies this afternoon and plan to eat popcorn. I think the fall carb cravings have hit. Will recover with back to basics eating this week. Sometimes you just gotta give in to the comfort food in small doses. My will power to get back on track seems to be stronger now.

Had a rough patch around the 14th. Would have been Dad's 90th (doesn't usually bother me), cousin (who'd survived breast cancer) passed on from liver cancer, and friend had emergency surgery for ovarian cancer. All that coupled with being over tired and a spell of oh poor me, no one to come home to be comforted by, etc worked it's tentacles around my brain. Did I mention how I hate the shorter days with less light?....

This too shall pass. I enjoy my first graders, even if I do work too hard. But I am cutting back on doing things that sap my energy, like volunteering for the fall festival at school. Debating on passing out candy at school since it really goes against everything I believe about eating for myself. I'll look for healthier alternatives and decide soon.

Off to finish laundry then go to see A Dolphin Tale.

hey I have a hallowenn party for my piano students and I know the kids expect some candy but that doesn't mean you have to go nuts with the candy. So what I do is get the brown lunch bags and put candy in then (around 8 to 10) with a prize in the bag. I have prizes for when they win points for all the games and the art projects they do and I have refishment of some chips, carrots and grapes along with some lemon lime pop.

I used to have a big haunted house but I'm not this year (its a big deal to put up, do and take down) so instead I'm doing haunted cookies, its just sugar cookies that they can decorate.

So its still not healthy but I still don't have lots of candy either.

Good luck

Wow, a lot of your blog could have been written by me....fall doldrums and less light....no one to come home to (translate: no one to go see, cuddle up with, share...) and change 1st grade to 6th! I too give in to comfort food in small doses usually...sometimes I blow it big time but usually manage to get back on track quickly.

I'm so glad you're losing weight and seeing good results.

There are lots of cute things that are non food, non candy for kids. Look in the dollar stores and there are lots of things that are packaged in 10s and 12s. Kids love them. We used to get 200+ kids when we lived in town. I always gave out non candy things. Sometimes a $1 off coupons off the admission at the local roller rink. They like working with teachers. Maybe, they would agree to a food coupon when purchasing an admission ticket. It helps the rinks, because they get different kids.

Gosh--thought I'd never start to lose weight! I've been on Sparks since '06 and only really had one good streak before, but not this good. Bought some 12 pants tonight - Yay! I'd say even with meat, cut the starches and processed foods/sugar & oil and stick to mostly fresh veggies and fruits with it--no sauces. (kinda what I did with South Beach diet)

One year, instead of candy, I gave out little bags of pretzels. I found a fun bucket full of pretzels at Sam's Club. They were in Halloween shapes and I felt much better giving those out instead of candy. Still not wonderful, but it was a small improvement.

How about those tiny erasers that are in shapes, stars, dogs, ect. or pencils chalk I don't know. I agree we used to give out pennies and the older kids would just look one time a group of teen boys - the first said pennies and murray put his hand back and shut the door. lol oh well.
WOW great numbers girl you have won whatever contest we had going way back cos I still sit bordering 192-189 argh

Another one (2) bites the dust

2 more pounds falling off despite my stress chip eating every night this week. I am in awe of this process. There is no more struggle. Is it too early to say Jack-Pot? I've hit the nail on the head - or maybe my head is finally in line with my body. My body feels happy, more at ease, like it's being fueled with the correct level of octane.

I went to a winery yesterday with a girlfriend. I made sure to drink my smoothie in the morning, had a veg chicken patty and brown rice for lunch before I went. While there we tasted about 7 wines, took the tour, sat and had a glass of wine and I broke with plant strong eating to eat some brie cheese and crackers. Came home, my son made fake mac n cheese (whole grain noodles) and veg ribblets with green beans, then I had an apple after dinner. Then dropped a pound today!? Amazing.

Wednesday, we are having a breakfast at school. I've been asked to bring a casserole I can eat. Great. So should I do baked banana french toast or polenta with veggie sausage?

OK--skipped out on church today. I have more school work to do - Boo. It's a beautiful day. I must get out at least to walk the dog!

Thx for the offer to help! I think I´m ok right now. I´ve been dragging for so long and it´s time to see if I can figure it out. I don´t want to go dr. hunting so I´m doing this by myself. I gave blood last week, so I know BP is good. Need to get a little bloodwork done before my jaw surgery so it will show a few things. Have plans for a GYN checkup near the end of the year or beginning of next.

The plan is to go glutenfree vegan for 7 days starting tomorrow, then I will add some protein. Just got off the phone w a good friend (who is generally a step ahd of me!) and she said that for allergic chk I should go 3 days before introducing the next new thing - what´d´ya think?

I´m eliminating all beans, nuts, dairy, and grains this one month. I don´t really think it will be difficult - I did a 10 day vegan 6 mos or so ago and it went just fine.

The pounds keep falling off

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Have to get someone to take a new picture of me. Full body since I've now lost 25 pounds! Not sure what I'm doing right other than staying focused and not giving in to cravings.

Have a full blown sinus attack. One more day of almost all day testing. Gotta get through it.

It's great to see those photos, but you know how you look and feel and that is the greatest motivation. I'm glad you're not giving in to cravings and staying focused. I hope you feel much better soon. emoticonAnn

MIA

Saturday, September 17, 2011

I haven't been into Sparks much lately. School is now in session. The first 2 weeks have involved 12 hours days. New grade level (1st) and there is so much that is new.

The up side is that my eating has been pretty good and I've continued to slowly lose. Down 23 lbs. since the spring and people at school are noticing and complimenting me. emoticon

And all this when I still have 15 pounds to get to the "top" of the healthy range. Each pound is a personal victory. I feel so much better now than 20 lbs. ago. Think of picking up a 20 lb. bag of dog food and carrying it around. When I think of it like that, I can realize how much I really have lost.

Haven't been exercising at all the last couple weeks. Today I finally made it back to Curves.

(note--this pictures was at the beginning of Aug.)

I can drink a smoothie for breakfast, have salad for lunch and a handful of nuts for snack at 5:00 and not get dinner till 8:00 without getting hungry.

I haven't forgotten my Spark friends.

Congratulations on the weight loss, thinking of something that weighs as much as you have lost is really a good way to realize the impact of the extra pounds. I was shocked last year when I bought a weight vest to use when walking, I started out by adding 8 lbs and was amazed on how much more difficult that first walk was with only the 8 extra lbs. Over the years I have lost 100 lbs, I can't even imagine carrying that much weight and not having my legs collapse under me. You are doing great, keep up the good work.

only one mom (not really crying, but convinced he couldn't separate from her) - I've been weaning her off walking her child to my class. He' is doing better. Mondays are harder.

Hmmm...great to be back is a double edge sword. Love seeing my teachers, love the kids, hate the pressure to do too much too fast and testing. That's next week.
