My new car!!!

Thursday, September 05, 2013

Been looking for a car for a while... Wanted something practical, but also wanted something fun. Fun won! I'm telling myself, this was my treat to myself for 50 pounds lost.

It is a 1999 Mustang convertible. My first Mustang, my first convertible...

Now to lose the NEXT 50!!!

That's a very nice car! My father owned a '65 Mustang convertible in the late 70s when I was growing up. He and I loved that car. He recently bought himself a newer Mustang convertible. I'm still in a minivan. :-)

Losses...

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Today, my heart is heavy. I belong to wonderful organizations whose members are as close as family to me. Their joy is my joy, their sorrow is my sorrow...

Today, a close friend has lost their mother-in-law. Another close friend passed away this morning, after a fall two days ago. Two deaths in a matter of hours. I can't stop but fear the dropping of the third shoe, as these things always seem to come in threes.

Trying to focus on what I need to do, as we also are having the State Encampment this weekend, where we are playing hosts to many National officers as well. My heart is torn up... Needing lots of hugs right now... Trying to function is not happening...

The wheels on the bike...

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Go round and round!!!

Seriously, the last time I was on a bike was easily 20-25 years ago. Even though I bought my bike 4-5 years ago (because the price was too good to pass up), I never rode. When I was a kid, my parents limited bicycling to the driveway for safety's sake. Now that I live in an urban area, riding in traffic adds a whole layer of fear on top of fear.

But, over the last three days, I've done a bit of riding. And I'm LIKING it! Still nervous when the traffic picks up, but It's been a blast!

Have fun I so wish I could have a bike. But where I live I would be taking my life in to my own hands doing it. Beside my family wont let me have one. They say they dont want to visit me in the hospital afraid I will fall off it.

A new thought...

Friday, May 03, 2013

Diet continues to go well, but my frustration with my job situation is only getting worse. Today, my husband and I are discussing creating our own business. Something that we can start part-time, until we get it going, and then can eventually go full-time with.

We are looking at designing a line of notecards, using primarily battlefields and historical subjects.

This is one photo that I've taken at Gettysburg, and could see as a notecard.

While we are starting with notecards, that will be only the beginning. In November, we could have a 2014 calendar available.

Now, if only we could decide on a name... Then, we could file for a Federal EIN number, as well as a State Tax number. From there, we could set up the business bank account, and then file the paperwork to make it a corporation! If we only had a name!!!

Sleep patterns...

Monday, April 29, 2013

The one thing I really dislike about my job... Okay, ONE of the things I really dislike about my job (LOL!) is the fact that it disrupts my sleep patterns. Typically, I am working third shifts, which can be anywhere from 9pm-6am to 12 midnight-9 am. Trying to sleep when I get off work, when it is daylight and the sun is shining, is difficult. Then, toss in a day (night?) off... I'll get off work that morning, but try to stay up in the morning, to enjoy the daylight hours of my "day off." That way, when the family goes to bed at 9pm, I'm able to go with them.

This week, I worked 4 nights in a row, had a day off, then worked a day shift before having another day off... So I've slept at night for three days in a row, Woo Hoo! Now, it's time to work three nights in a row again... And guess who really wants to go crawl into bed??? ME!!! UGH!!!

This constant bouncing back and forth is affecting my mood and my diet... I really need a new job...

Those kinds of shifts are so hard. I remember when my husband first started as a dispatcher with the police department how hard it was. one week he worked 7-3 next it was 3-11 then 11-7. It was a killer. Much easier when he became an officer and they had the same shift for a month. though he never did like the midnights. Do you have room dark shades?. Those really helped at our house.
