Tightrope routine

Monday, April 23, 2012

Im a creature of habit. I have adhd - think of my brain as a tv with a channel surfer!- Routine keeps me doing the things that are imprtant to me (as opposed to whatever distraction comes my way :-)

To lose weight i rely even more on routine to keep on track.

This round: Gym for an hour after i drop kids at school. Brunch at a healthy cafe, then off to work and so on. Yay me it is working slowly but surely EXCEPT

I screw up on the days that dont fit neatly into my routine. Holidays vacations or even staying home a few days throw me off way more than they should somehow. So its two steps down the scale and two steps back up usually.

What is on my mind today (home with my little girl who has a belly-bug and her brother looking like lettus under a heat lamp who will probably fall to the bug tomarro) how to stay on track off routine?

Gastric Plication Surgery

Thursday, April 12, 2012

I wanted to think about something else. Losing Gaining and all the while obsessing about food had become a big part of my life. One year ago, feeling completely out of control and almost schizophrenic with the urge to eat battling with my desire to lose weight, I took a plunge. I traveled to Cancun Mexico to have weight loss surgery.
There are several surgeries out there and as I was paying for it myself and out of the country I could do any of them. I chose laparoscopic gastric plication surgery. Its a procedure not done yet often in this country because it is fairly new and we (those of us who have had it) are the guinea-pigs of the long run results of this procedure.
The surgery for me has been a restoration of sanity! I can drive by a gas station without craving a snickers lol. I have seen people go thru other weight loss surgeries and those options look awful. I know a man who almost died from gastric bypass and a woman who can only eat baby-food with her prosthetic band. With plication there is no cutting. No prosthetic. My stomach was sewn together to create a smaller tube. I put this out into the void because the surgery has been a huge blessing in my life and if anyone wants to know more about my personal experience with laparoscopic gastric plication Id be happy to share. xo Whinnyk

I am having a banded plication this coming June (unless they have me come in earlier, fingers crossed.) How did you feel afterwards? How much weight did you have to lose before the surgery? Are the results what you thought they were?

I have never heard of this procedure before. I wish you much success in obtaining the results that you desire.
