The smells of a run around my block

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

…freshly cut grass…chlorine-filled pools…trash…car exhaust, fumes…doghouses, wet dog, dog poo (eww hate this one)…clean laundry, drying on the clothes line (love this one!)….fried chicken or pork chops, people’s dinners…my lotion, moisturizer…my own sweat! (my fav)
All in a run.

13.1 Training: Week 3

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Week 3

Mon 2/8 : 40 min Turbosculpt
Tue 2/9 : 4.2 mil/37 min (rd)
Wed 2/10: 37 min BL powersculpt, 37 min elliptical
Thu 2/11: rest
Fri 2/12: 4 mi/40 min TM
Sat 2/13: 31 min elliptical, 20 min BL powersculpt, 10 min arms, 10 kickboxing
Sun 2/14: 3.6 mil/34 min TM

Total weekly miles: 11.8 (planned 13)

Week 3 was a little challenging. Due to work and family engagements I had to switch out days/workouts. I didn’t miss any but weekly miles will be off as a result. I’ll have 2 long runs this week (week 4). The scale didn’t move either way, which is good. It means I’m maintaining well, although I would love to see 130! But I’ll wait patiently till that day comes. V-Day was under control. I had one fun size chocolate after dinner on Fri, Sat and Sun. And then it was over. I did much better this week than last week with meals. I went grocery shopping a lot, which means spending a lot of $$. I cleaned out my closet this week. Loaded up a big box for the salvation army with all kinds of clothes that no longer fit, or that I hadn’t used in years, or that was really outdated. Made lotssss of room for a new wardrobe! It felt so good to clean, simplify, and let go of unnecessary stuff. Still struggling to get little one to sleep in his own bedroom. I feel like I have an infant again getting up every 2-3 hours, which is why I was so tired this week. I also had to sacrifice a rest day. Today is a rest day. Week 4 off to a good start!

13.1 Training: Week 2

Week 2

Mon 2/1: rest
Tue 2/2: 4 mil/40 min (TM), 25 min weights (Kelly Coffey DVD)
Wed 2/3: 40 min circuit training (JM30DS, level 1 & 3)
Thu 2/4: 4.1 mil/37 min (rd)
Fri 2/5: rest
Sat: 5 mil/45 min (rd)
Sun: 32 min elliptical

Total week miles: 13.1 (12 planned)

I weighed in at 132 on Friday. Lost the pound I had gained. Like I mentioned before I'm not pursuing a number on the scale anymore- just monitoring maintenance- but since my 'new' goal is 130 I'd like to see it on the scale someday, even if for a day!! emoticon
I'm excited I found a place to do the upcoming long runs! yay! And my boss confirmed that I am definitely going to the Chicago meeting in June so 13.1 here I come! I should be officially registering for the race soon. Rest scheduled for today but I will be doing turbosculpt since I missed out on ST yesterday. On a personal note, I finally started transitioning my 3 year old to his bed. I feel like I have an infant again, I'm getting up almost every 2-3 hours. I need Supernanny!!!

Looking forward to another good week!

First week went smoothly. Stuck to plan, except for Sunday when I snuck in an addditional run in the p.m. I had the time, opportunity and extra pizza calories to burn off!!! So, why not?
2nd week going well too. So far so good. 18 more to go!!! Still not sure how/where I'm going to do the longer runs in the coming weeks/months but I hope to have it figured out by then. I still can't believe I'm doing this.

January HI's & LO's

Friday, January 29, 2010

January HI’s
emoticonReceived a bunch of cute clothes- sizes s, xs, 4, 5, 7- from my 20 y/o cousin! I so needed the clothes. Almost felt like a shopping spree. Who would’ve thought I’d get hand-me-downs from her; I used to give her mine!
emoticonOfficially started ½ marathon training……nervous about it. Can I stick to the plan for 20 weeks?!?
emoticonGot my Nike Plus sportsband to track my runs outside. For the moment it’s what I could afford and works great.
emoticonGot The Spark. But I haven’t started reading it yet emoticon
emoticonDid a Kelly Coffey weight training video. Awesome!!!! Def. gonna buy it.
emoticonRegistered for a 10K in March.
emoticonStopped tracking food! At first it was a low moment. But now I see this as a positive. I can’t live with the constant number crunching and logging although I did it successfully and faithfully for 5 months. However, I CAN live with smart food choices and healthy habits. And I have to be able to prove it and trust myself. Tracking was my #1 tool for weight loss but tracking fitness and staying active is now my key tool for maintaining. But if I see the pounds creeping back, to the food tracker I go!!!
emoticonThis week is my 6 mo sparkiversary! emoticonYay me! Total 27 lbs lost- gained fitness, confidence, inner & outer strength, and plenty of new, healthy habits!

January LO’s
emoticonAfter the holidays I had family in town for about 3 weeks, which completely challenged my meals and workouts. I did what I could but had too many off days.
emoticonI binged twice, out of guilt, from Lo#1. Also TOM was bad! So stupid how we do this to ourselves; it’s a vicious cycle.
emoticonNot starting The Spark. Shame, shame…… I have to finish the novel I’m reading first.

No weight loss this month. I was supposed to reach my ultimate goal on Jan 31. But I’m not necessarily looking for or expecting weight loss now. If it happens it happens. It would be nice to see 130 on the scale even if only for a day. But I’m happy with 133. What are 3 lbs really?? More HI’s than LO’s this month is a good thing so I’m happy.

For February— I’m sticking to my half-marathon training and like always eat well. And I’m aiming to finish the World’s Best 10K Race (San Juan, PR) on Feb 28 in less than 60 min.

Have a great February everyone!!! Candy and chocolate in moderation on the 14th!!!! emoticon
