Friday, mixed feelings...

Friday, April 15, 2011

I have to make an honest entry this week...I lost 2 pounds but actually it's the two pounds I gained last week (TOM, injury....whatever). I didn't post the 2 pound gain because I was so angry, it's gone now so the 20 pound loss is legit. I am trying to understand why I felt bad enough to not log it. I started 2 new activities in the last 2 weeks since this started...I am running 3 times per week, I started zumba and upped my resistance training. My body this morning is killing me...

What I am really happy about is the 3 inches I have lost from my hips since I started 4 months ago, that is amazing and the results of a lot of hard work. I need to give myself some kudos...just not in my nature.

I am looking forward to W3D1 tomorrow, hope the wind dies down. YIKES!!! Hope for good results next Friday, have a good one!!!

The scenic route gets you there too! Well done for getting back on track and owning up to your detour.
best wishes, Sandra

Ugggg....hurts so good?

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I am really surprised at how much effort I am willing to do this spring. I have completed week two of my run/walk plan and it's really great, as well as boosting my resistance training and doing Zumba on Thursday nights (tonight). This is all been kind of strategic...after my groin strain episode last week I have been taking things a little more seriously and reminded myself that I am 41 and things are not as easy as they once were...

The up side to all my hard work is my daughter has been mentioning my technique in running is better, my pants are baggier and I got two complements at work this week. I shouldn't need these, but it does seem like I do...

It seems as if my husband is pretty happy too...nudge nudge, wink, wink, say no more:)

I am not quite at the half way point but the work is showing and at the moment that is just fine...I am really enjoying my activities, just never get used to the muscle aches after....but who does????

Wish my luck on my weigh in tomorrow:)

Do as I say...not as I do:(

Ummm sometimes the people in the medical field are idiots. I say this because I am IN the medical field. I went for a great run last night (W1D3) no problems really....I even stepped up the pace a smidge.

I felt my right upper thign/groin seizing up about 1/2 way through my run and said to myself that I better ice that tonight...damn. Well, I did. I got caught up checking emails....updating Spark...starting my new crocheting project.....DAMN!!! I forgot to check my ice pack. I took it off and the skin was hard like ice. I GAVE myself frost bite. It's the first thing I tell my patients in the clinic (I'm a reg. Massage Therapist) don't leave the ice on too long...it can damage your skin.

Well, this morning the strain isn't too bad, I feel it when I turn...same old thing as any injury, take it easy...rest, ice compressions whatever...Sheesh.

I have Zumba for the first time tonight emoticon. I plan on taking good care of it this morning and stretching well and see what happens. I don't run till Saturday so I guess time heals all wounds. Wow.

I guess it could be worse -- at least you know you hurt yourself in service of fitness and health, right? emoticon BTW, is that Shannon Falls behind you? What a gorgeous shot!

Have a great week!

Glad you didn't do yourself too much damage! Filing this away for future reference... I am not in the medical profession but nonetheless I am perfectly capable of being an idiot. :)

Well you gave me a chuckle! At least you are equipped to fix yourself up. So glad you are still able to go to Zumba.

Maybe you can tell me why the pad on my foot is swollen under my middle toe? Should I ice it? Or stay off it or just keep walking on it?

Could I have over-extended it with all the walking I am doing?

Mistakes happen. Luckily it was a stay healthy related mistake and not a mistake related to going off your health plan. I'm impressed you run! Hope your leg feels better soon. Have fun with Zumba. I've never done it and it sounds like a hoot!

This is pretty exciting this week, I add W1D2 to my new running schedule with plans on a 5 km race in July or August as well as Zumba classes on Thursdays for the next 10 weeks. I reached another goal last Friday. To my surprise, I lost 4 pounds in one week and made it to my 20 pound goal for April. I was afraid of hurting myself with too much weight for my running program. I felt amazing after my first race. My daughter Maggie was my coach and really made me strive for excellence.

The key to my happiness seems too be challenges in the outdoors...I'll get new running duds for the race:)

Friday morning

Friday, March 25, 2011

I am having a really hard time being motivated this morning...I have a heavy feeling in my gut. I don't mean a figurative feeling, an actual one. I am walking to work this morning so I hope some fresh air and exercise will cure what ails me...

I am also looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow...long week with less sleep than usual.

Meh, bleh and continue....
