My wake up call

I have had a wake up call. About a year ago, I started to have spells of nausea and stomach pains and sometimes I would even throw up. I also was very very tired and moody. I wasn't fallowing my diet plan then, and I ate whatever I wanted. I never felt full. Seemed like to me I was always hungry no matter what I ate. so I continued to stuff my face, eating was the only thing that stopped me from being nauseous. I could not figure out why I was having so much pain.
One day I came across a posting on the internet about insulin resistance and pre-diabetes. I had all the symptoms of such illness. So I continued to do some research and decided to start eating a lower carb/ no sugar diet. Low and behold my stomach nausea had gone away, but anytime I ate something with sugar in it, I once again get that burning aching stomach pain again. I bought a glucose meter a week ago and I have been keeping track of my blood sugar. I can say that my numbers matched up for someone with pre-diabetes. When I eat bad carbs or sugar my blood sugar is in the diabetic range. If I eat healthy then it's an ok number, not ideal, but I'm working on it.
And that is my wake up call. No longer am I going to ignore my body and treat it like trash. I don't want to go back to the way I was eating, I really can't or I will get sick again. I started back in March and have lost 20lbs since I started eating low carb/no sugar.

Roasted Vegetable Grilled Tortilla

Here is a healthy lunch. It's just about 300 Calories for two tortillas.

I took two small tortilla shells and spread 1 table spoon of fat free cream cheese on each, spread a mixture of mashed up pinto beans and taco sauce (about a half a cup between the two) I sprinkled one table spoon of fresh cilantro, and a dash of cumin, salt and pepper, mean while I roasted a green pepper and some onion in the toaster oven and added those chopped up onto the tortillas. I had some jarred fire roasted red peppers in the refrigerator, so I added a few chopped up too. After it was all assembled I folded the tortillas in half and put them on my pre-heated counter top grill. If it were summer time I would for sure grill these bad boys up outside on the charcoal grill.

These were super yummy and my son likes them too!

Time is against me.

Today is going by really slowly. Im hungry for lunch at 10 am even though I just ate breakfast at 9am....
So as I was waiting for lunch time, I decided to organize my summer clothing. I started to put all my summer clothes away, I was assessing how much I likes certain pieces of clothing when I suddenly got the feeling in me that I was NEVER going to wear those fat people clothing again! I thought, this is a great feeling to have, believing that I will never have to unpack this box again and I will donate it in the spring.
My happy self was feeling quite satisfied when I went back into the living room and my son had thrown cereal all over the room. I sigh....Time for lunch yet?? "Hungry tummy,no its still only 11 am", I think in my head. Boy this day is going by really extremely slow.
I have so much that I have to do and so much that I want to do, it stresses me out. Sitting on the couch and watching TV sounds so much less stressful to me right now...To much to do, I just want to go back to bed. I need motivation!

    Eating 5-6 meals/day has worked well for me. Could you envision yourself listening to your body's hunger signals instead of watching the clock for the "right" time to eat?

Here's how I know when I'm really hungry: If I will eat broccoli, I'm genuinely, physically hungry. But if I want to push the broccoli aside to get to something "better," I'm not hungry--I just want to eat.

You are NOT laying in bed yet.

You are NOT lounging on the sofa.

You ARE moving forward.

Do you take yor son out for walks or on walks each day or several times a day?

I've learned too, NOT to eat my meals by someone else's meal times.

And I've learned NOT to have two or three meals per day. I eat five to six meals per day now, cuz I'm refueling for burning calories most all of the day long hours.
