Remembrance Day 11/11//11

Thursday, November 10, 2011

It is our Remembrance Day

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you ?
Have you always turned the other cheek ?
To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'

Oh my . . . I can barely type my thank you through the veil of tears. My son enlisted in August, goes to basics in March, 2012. I am big-time scared for him, but it's what he wants to do.

God bless all our young men and women who keep us safe and free.

11/11/11 Remembrance Day in Australia

Thursday, November 10, 2011

Hi just read something interesting

A Healthy Diet for Dealing with Depression
The Link Between Food & Your Mood

Thyroid. The thyroid gland controls yours metabolism but indirectly affects your mood. An overactive thyroid can make you feel anxious and irritable, while an under-active thyroid can cause sluggishness, exhaustion, loss of appetite, weight gain, and hair loss.

Iron levels. Low iron stores can alter your mood, cause fatigue and difficulty concentrating, and decrease mental alertness.

I have an under-active Thyroid and low iron. Now I know why I feel like this. I don't suffer from depression but I have all the other symptoms that is discussed here except lack of appetite although I think the eating sometimes is emotional eating.

Good article to do with food although the suggestions about eating wholegrain foods, with the suggestions from the kidney teams I can not eat these due to my CKD.

Oh my gosh . . . YES! I have thyroid disease (Hashimotos autoimmune hypothyroid disease) and indeed -- I had peripheral neuropathy, brain fog, lethargy to the extreme, low heart rate (in the 40's!), MAJOR hair loss and just was not able to function. YET my Dr. wasn't willing to treat me. Well, I should say FORMER Dr.

I found a Dr. who listened to me, and I was treated. Within 2 weeks I felt better.

Thanks for posting. BTW, have you tried Ferritin? That helped

I'm glad this subject is getting more attention. Just last night I saw something about it but was too sleepy (i wonder why) to get up and put pen to paper.

btw, hope the Remembrance Day went well. I know, not on subject but think of you.

Dear Wendy, I too have low thyroid (Hashimoto) and cannot absorb iron properly and I know how bad it is. Added to the kidney disease it's huge. That's why its so good that you're doing so much to overcome the setbacks.

Hi everyone, I am doing ok. Still think I have the infection but no episodes like that one before. Went back to exercises today there was none held on Monday because of the weather 40 C or about 105 F. Way too hot so it was cancelled. We worked really hard today. It is so fast and busy with lots of movement. We had lots of movement, used the exercise ball, resistance bands, dumb bells and a hula hop, so lots of variety.

Went for a small walk yesterday about 30 minutes but sweated a bucketful because it was so hot. It felt a lot longer than that LOL. I got to use my hed when it is like that and do my exercises inside.

Blood pressure has been quite good in the last week.

Hi Wendy, you are doing so well with your exercise! Good for you. I agree with Susie, I think it might be worth checking for a urine infection. It was hot and humid here today - though it has started to rain a bit here. Still warm for most of the week though. Take care.

I am going to keep drinking the cranberry juice for a while, I actually bought the light one, so not much sugar because I know that is not good for infections. I will keep drinking lots of water because it will help my kidneys.

Friday 4th Nov

Friday, November 04, 2011

Hi everyone, I did ring the doctors but still no appointments until Monday. I did go down a bought some cranberry juice so i have had 1 glass today plus the cranberry tablet, I will do that for the next few days. I know if I do have an infection the doctor will give me antibiotics but I will try to help myself also. I don't like how the antibiotics kill the good bacteria along with the bad.

On the positive side I had a really good sleep last night with my new pillow. I did wake up a few times to go to the toilet but went straight back to sleep. I usually have very restless and sleepless nights. I do wonder if the was one reason why my blood pressure went up because I could not sleep Sunday night.

I am drinking lots of water and having lots of rest. Being very careful with my eating and trying to do about 30 minutes of chair exercises. I am hoping by Monday I will have recovered from whatever is wrong with me and I can start to met my goals again.

I know I will not met my 7 hour planned exercise goal but I will next week if all goes well.

Keep looking after yourself Wendy. If your body is telling you to rest, then i think trying to do too much exercise could end up being counter-productive. Hope the cranberry juice will do the trick - and that you now get peaceful nights of sleep with the new pillow.

Well I'm glad at least that you got started on the cranberry juice and tablet. It usually helps me.

Glad you got some good sleep. That helps so much, too.

I would listen to your body and put goals on the back burner for the moment till you're feeling better.

Sending healing vibes your way!!

Hugs.
