I arrived home tonight, again so very tired. I sat at the hospital for 5 or 6 hours on Monday to be told that they would not be doing my fistula that day. So annoying as by the time they let me go it was nearly 7 hours of wasted time. Need to go back on the 17th June to have this done. They had complications with the patient before.

So much to tell you but I need to say good night.

I can only begin to imagine how frustrated, disappointed and upset you must have been feeling, and probably still are feeling. All those miles, and for nothing more than to be told you weren't going to have your procedure done... Think I'd have burst into tears on the spot.

I know that at times it is difficult to believe, but the way I see it, everything happens for a reason, whether or not that reason is clear to us at the time. Just believe that it wasn't the right time for you. Get plenty of rest, eat well, and do all you can so that when you're next scheduled you will be as healthy as you can possibly be.

Sending love and hugs your way, beautiful lady.

**SIGH!** I would be more than annoyed! But nothing to do about it I guess but go back. UGH I am sorry that happened to you! Just disappointing. You get in a certain mindset to be prepared.

HUGS and prayers.

After all the adrenaline rush of anticipation, this must be a heck of a let down, especially since you don't live next door. At least you know that they will take the time you need to get it done right, even if it inconveniences the next person. That's always good to know.

Hopefully, next time will do the trick.

As I need to be in Adelaide on Monday early morning so they can raise the fistula, I am going down to Adelaide on Sunday afternoon. Dad is coming with me as they told me yesterday that I will not be able to drive. Little did they know that I drove home after I had the fistula done last year, I did stay the extra night in Adelaide. I am staying down there until Wednesday afternoon as I have an appointment with my Nephrologist. Leave straight after this appointment.

As for the hospital accommodation, yes there is some but then you have to pay for car parking which when I looked into this last year it was going to cost as much as staying in a reduced price motel. I will be checking out the last minute deals for accommodation on the Net today and some of these you will get for about $70.00 per night. At least with Dad coming I will be able to leave the car there and not pay parking fees.

We have a scheme here called the Patient and Transport Scheme and will get money back from this for petrol and accommodation. With Dad being there I will get extra as he will be classed as being my carer. So this will help.

Still very tired from the trip yesterday. Lazy day planned, all I need to do is take my form up to the hospital to get paid for yesterday and I plan to go and see my grandchildren. That's it folks. Famous last words, now I wonder if my plans will work out today. LOL.

Sending you strength and serenity...those medical appointments and procedures are wearing and expensive! Stanford, where DH gets post-liver Tx care, is in an urban area which is like visiting a war zone to us rural folks...can't get out of there fast enough!

Hope everything goes smoothly. I'm glad your dad is going with you...many times I remember stuff the doctors said when DH doesn't...always good to have an extra set of ears and eyes with you!

Take care,

Dinner time for me, TV & bed...Sweet Dreams tonight, dear Wendy...

Home from Adelaide, such a long day. My pre-operation assessment went okay, so now I drive back there on Sunday to have the fistula raised on Monday.
At least it was cool which made it a much better trip. Although I am still tired LOL.

Of to bed.

Just wanted to mention tho', that you seem to reply to your own blogs .. like in thanking people for looking? In my experience, I don't think 'anyone' goes back to a blog 'after' they have commented? Now think about it Wendy ... do you go back a second time to someone's blog after you've read and commented?

An observation from me is all, girlfriend. emoticon

Perhaps you can contact the hospital ans see if they have accomadation close by .

Wish you had friends in Adelaide so you wouldn't have to drive so far and back again. Are there programs in Australia where you can stay in a Hotel/Motel at half cost if you are having medical work done in that town? Some places here have good discounts if they can verify you are going to a medical facility for tests/ treatment. It might save you some money on gas and wear and tear on your body from travel. Ask the hospital, they may know something. emoticon

Hi everyone, I go to Adelaide on Thursday to have my pre-operation check-up but I have thrown a spanner in the works as I have developed a cold. Been in bed for a couple of hours this afternoon and on Panadol. Not much else I can do.

My plans if I am still allowed to have this operation, is that I will be awake while they are working on my arm. This was how they did the fistula last time and I coped with that.

Still losing a bit of weight, I am now down 22.8kgs, just over 50lbs. Being brought up with the imperial measurements, 50lbs feels like my first milestone. Couple more milestones to go LOL. I am lost over 5kgs this year. Got to be happy with that.

My youngest son Dwayne's birthday is on Wednesday and he will be 28. Where has the time gone. But then the oldest one is 34.

Wow 50 lbs is awesome. you are really making progress. Hope you get over that cold. My hubby was in the hospital a while back with kidney problems and others. When he came out of the hospital his kidneys were 40% better. He uses a lot of salt and that is very bad for your kidneys. Thank goodness he is better because it is scary. Take care of yourself and that cold and get some rest. Light and love Pam
