Hi everyone,

lots of things have been happening to lately, been spending time with the grandchildren and babysitting. Helped my niece do lots of cooking so she could freeze the meals. She works full time and does not get much help from hubby. So I was over her place helping her for about 7 hours. This was on Good Friday.

I have also being trying to look after me as I was unwell for a while with a really bad infection which turned into a abscess. I have learnt a very valuable lesson here as I need to look after me first before I can help anyone else.

I have also been doing a lot of thinking lately, not happy with my progress. Since I fractured my toe at the end of October last year and of course I had trouble with this healing, my exercising went down. I was still exercising but not at the intensity that I had been doing this.

I had lost my motivation as I could not go to my exercise class until about 1 month ago. But even this was hard because I could not wear shoes. Last week was the first time I could wear closed in shoes since the toe incident. Still have pain in the toe.
Even though I did manage to go to exercises once per week, my health would not let me go the twice I was before.

But even in the exercise class I do not huff and puff anymore. So not getting the amount of cardio I was doing before. The new exercise instructor was a lot harder than the previous one and did enjoy going as she pushed us. But now the original instructor is back.

So I have decided in the last couple of that I do need to increase my intensity at home. I have now started doing step ups using a step out the back, not a high one but that is okay. I am also doing a lot more strength exercises on the back veranda.
Looking around to see what else I can use.

Ended up getting my son to set up my DVD player and this morning I did my Australian Biggest Loser DVD for 61 minutes which has warmup, cardio, strength and stretching, Which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also was breathing harder doing this.

So I am now getting my motivation back and hope to see some improvements soon.

Food has been really good, still learning and playing around with food all the time, learning how to lower the calories. One thing I have learnt is not to stress about food.

I have had a couple of takeaway meals lately but I bought a kids meal at Hungry Jacks one day and then had fish and chips on Easter Sunday with my son and his girlfriend but I did not overeat.

This has been a really amazing journey and have learnt so much, I do not have to eat just because it is there. I can have my normal portions and be happy. Even my son's G/F commented on me using my small plate that day when they both had the big plates.

So in a nutshell, happy with progress on eating but need to lift the intensity of my exercising.

    Wow you sure have had a busy time. Have your ever tried aqua aerobics they have classes in local pools in the indoor heated ones. I've been a few times over the years with my mother they can get and a lot of the older people go. I had thought about doing this again or just going to the heated pool and doing water walking etc... with my mother. Or perhaps a different exercise class to the one you have been going to if the leader/teacher is not really good. Or even changing the day and time of the week you go and you might find a different leader / teacher for that day and time slot and that may be better. I am not sure all just suggestions you have to find what will work for you.

Exercise does definitely help with weight loss. Good on you though for all the help you have given your niece, grandchildren etc..

    Its great you have your motivation back Wendy. I just exercise at home. I have an aerofit walker which I try and do 3Ks a day. Plus I do push ups against a wall. I am up to 20, I could only do 3 when I started. I also have a resistance band and do Nicoles seated 20min video with it. emoticon

Losing 21 kilos is just Awesome.

Never Ever let yourself feel bad, as you must be doing something right to lose all that weight.
Sometimes I think we expect to much of ourselves and we must and need to learn that we can also burn ourselves out by doing to much.

    Injury and family demands on your time are not excuses - they are reasons for you going off programme. But you are right, it is important to make looking after yourself a priority. Keeping food intake under control despite all the pressures in your life is something you should be really proud of. And you sound on the right track with exercise but it is important to not overdo it, especially if you still have pain in your foot. emoticon

Well, I had a interesting day today. I developed an abscess on Sunday night, so very painful, then I woke at about 1 or 2 am Monday morning and felt like I had been kicked by a horse in my ribs. I finally had a appointment today due to a public holiday yesterday. It has been lanced then I had to go up the hospital for IV antibiotics, this was a total of 3 hours. After the small operation the pain in the chest has now gone.


Abscesses are caused by a infection, I know I have been a bit off for the last couple of weeks, not wanting to eat and so on but I didn't give an infection a thought. Yet thinking about diffeent things that has been happening I should have guessed. Hindsight is such a wonderful thing. LOL. I recken I have had this infection for about 2 weeks. I start oral antibiotics tomorrow.

Update about Colin, they removed the gallstone with a tube (somehow) but now they have found that he has more gallstones so he may be going back into theatre tomorrow to remove his gall bladder.

I will let you know tomorrow. I am off to bed.

HI everyone,

I have heard from Susie, Colin is still very weak as he left the infection too long. Susie has spoken of the problems she has with Colin and he had it in his head not to go to hospital as he does not want to die there. This has made the present situation so much worse. Susie said that Colin has many tubes in and out of him. He is still in intensive care and will stay there for a while longer.

Susie has told me to thank everyone for their good wishes, prayers as so on and that she and her family does appreciate them. Keep them coming. Susie will need your positive vibes/prayers and love for a few days yet.

When I have any more news I will let you know.
