The New Year comes in with or without your staying up. We go to bed at out regular time also, and I concur that beauty sleep is important.

Christmas Day

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

I had a fantastic day today but I am glad it is over in Australia. I am completely worn out. Went over to see the grandchildren this morning gave them their presents. I gave them some water guns and of course who do you think got soaked(me) tonight. It was great fun though.

Helped my niece and sister-in-law get lunch organised so i did lots of walking and I had to navagate two steps which I think I had to go up and sown 30 or 40 times. I did keep myself busy doing dishes so I wasn't just sitting and eating.

All in all I am so proud of myself and I did not overeat or go back for seconds.
Some of it was so yummy that I was tempted but I did resist. Also I did not have any lollies or slices and did not overdo the meat.

So I will be going to bed soon and get some much needed rest

I must be learning.

Go you! Christmas is such a temptation to overeat and you did yourself proud.

Oh - I am back. Ready to pursue the path again!

PLEASE let me know how you are health wise - I have thought of you even though I have been away.

It is tiring but you did VERY well to resist the food (better than I did!). I'm even glad Boxing Day is almost gone, as are the leftovers, and tomorrow can be fairly "normal"!

So glad to hear you had a great day Wendy - and didn't overdo the food side of things! Woo Hoo for you! All those steps and playing with the grandchildren would have helped too. It's great you were able to enjoy it and I hope you can catch your breath now!

six white boomers by Rolf Harris

Friday, December 21, 2012

I thought I would post this as it is nearly Christmas

in australia, christmas comes in the middle of a very hot summer
so when santa claus delivers his presents
he's not taken around by reindeer because
they can't stand the terrible heat

he's taken around by six big, white, old man kangaroos
called the six white boomers

early on one christmas day
a joey kangaroo
was far from home and lost
in a great, big zoo

mommy....where's my mommy?
they've taken her away

we'll help you find your mommy, son
hop up on the sleigh

so up inside the bag of toys
little joey hopped
but they hadn't gone far when santa stopped
unharnessed all the reindeer
and joey wondered why
then he heard a far off booming in the sky

(boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom)

six white boomers
snow white boomers
racing santa claus through the blazing sun
six white boomers
snow white boomers
on his australian run

pretty soon old santa began to feel the heat
took his fur-lined boots off to cool his feet
into one popped joey
feelin' quite okay
while those old man kangaroos kept pullin' on the sleigh

then joey said to santa, "santa, what about the toys?
aren't you giving some to these girls and boys?"

"well, they've all had their presents, sonny
we were here last night
this trip is an extra trip
joey's special flight

soon the sleigh was flashing past
right over marble bah
"slow down there!" cried santa
"it can't be far
hop up on my lap here, son
and have a look around"
"there, there she is!
that's mommy! bounding up and down!"

well, that's the bestest christmas treat
that joey ever had
curled up in mother's pouch feeling snug and glad
the last they saw was santa heading northwards from the sun
the only year the boomers worked a double run

You can listen to it on here

We do this song with the children at Kindy each year. They sing it to their parents (among others) at the concert. The children really love it, we often get requests for it and children tell us that it's their favourite song.
The only downside is that I often wake with "6 White Boomers" running through my head!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Update on my toe. As most of you know and to all of the members that I met since I did this, I fractured my little toe, I had this x rayed yesterday and it is still not healed and also the bone around the fracture has now gone soft, whatever that means. I go back to the doctors on Tuesday so I will have more of an understanding then (I hope).

So at present I need to sit down and work out what exercises I should be doing and keep off my foot as much as possible. I need this to heal.

Sorry it turned out to be a fracture and the other bone is compromised. Our feet are so important and they always get easily injured. My husband hurt his ankle a couple months ago and it is so much better now. Hang in there...wishing a speedy recovery for you. emoticon

Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog-meant a lot! emoticon

I'd cross my fingers and toes--and even my eyes! lol--for you if it would do any good--but I'm afraid all it would do is give me muscle spasms....

...so I'll put in a few words for you with the "Man Upstairs" instead...
Take care, sweet friend!

Wendy, yes do try to stay of you feet, or toe wont heal soon enough. I believe the soft bone has to do with your CKD. I know how i have felt lately with this foot of mine, and its not fun, hang in there.

I hope it is good news Wendy. I really got a scare.
I am trying to find out if I am entitled to get anything
from Work Cover as it happened on my way home from work.
There is a big pothole there and I will call the council and see
what they are going to do about it. You look after yourself too.
