thank you for all your get well wishes from yesterday's blog. Going back to bed now, it is only 11.15 on Monday morning but I do intend to get up this afternoon and do 10 minutes on my exercise bake.

    One thing about sleeping (if you can) is you can't feel anything and it gives the body a bit of time to get better. emoticon

There have been so many colds and flus going on around here and I finally caught it, came down with it yesterday afternoon. Silly me, I did my best not to catch it but it won in the end. It has knocked me around something shocking.
Not well at all.

    No sense exercising when you're not well. I hope the cold doesn't linger and you get on top of it soon... then you can think about getting back to exercising.

    I have been resting so much and I am taking cold/flu tablets which has paracetamol in it. I would feel a lot better if I could get rid of this head and face ache. I will start having the lemon drink today. I am missing my exercises although I went down shopping yesterday so I got a fair few steps in. Had to get stuff for this cold but ended up going in 3 shops, did feel better after for a while.
I would love to get to the gym again tomorrow, I will see if I am any better first.
hugs to everyone but then you would probalby get my cold. So I had better not hug you all.

been to the gym twice this week, was very sore Tuesday night and yesterday but went again today for another 30 minute session. I think this is the way to go. At least it is not completely wearing me out this time, not like last attempt to do this. This 30 minute session does take me about 45 minute because I have a bit of rest and a drink between equipment. I am also being ever so careful not to wear myself out.

I am not sore tonight only tired but I have earned this. I actually got my heart rate up to over 130 on the treadmill, the bike was over 110.

So now I will see if I can start to lose some of this weight. I did weigh up there on Tuesday and they are going to weigh me every fortnight so I am going to keep my fingers crossed. hey had the scales that also show the fat (content or whatever it is) which was a bit of a shock. Yucky, need to improve this.

    You are doing great and love how hard you exercise, but never overdo or get overly tired doing them. Take good care of yourself.

    I have one of those scales that measure body fat, water, etc... interesting, and like you said, just a bit scary! LOL

I'm still recovering from some mild heat stroke issues--NEVER thought it would take so LONG!--so I'm having trouble getting my routine up to speed... you're setting a GREAT example, my friend!

    Sounds like an excellent plan. I have always done well when I regularly went to the gym. Now that I live in the country I just don't make the drive into town and finally gave up my membership.

I have had a pretty incredible month, with my Nephrolgist appointment, then my parent's 60th wedding anniversary, I just seem to be busy.

I have also been going to exercise class 2 times per week and increasing the amount of exercises I do at home. I have also started to go to the gym today but these will only be for 30 minute sessions for cardio.

I am stilll learning as I go along with this journey. I do alway track my food and exercise on here but I have started recording in a journal everything I do with calories, exercise, calories burnt. Everything that I am doing per day. Then I am adding them up weekly, then dividing by the amount of days that I tracked. I must say that it has shown me some patterns and where I need to increase over the week.

As I have said I do this on Sparks but after the week, it is gone and out of mind LOL.

Another thing I have realised that when exercising I am not hufing and puffing as much as I was before because I have built my fitness up to where I am now. I was exercising in my comfort zone. I was coasting along, merrily on my way and not losing any weight but saying to myself "I am doing so much more now so I should be losing weight". But obviously just doing enough not to put on weight.

I have now increased the intensity of the exercises and cardio. Yesterday and today I did raise my heart rate and I was puffing a bit and today when I was on the treadmill the pulse got up to 120+. So I know I did work it.

I had to take a food diary today to the gym and was told not to eat carbs at night. I was hungry last night so I had a couple pces of toast and tracked it like I should. I was told that I must eat carbs earlier in the day and not at night. I was really hungry because I think it was the intenstity of the exercises.

Otherwise food has been really good. No other problems with that side.

So that all said the goal I am making is to huff and puff more and raise the heart rate when I am exercising. Raise the intensity Wendy.

No news on the grandchildren issue, I think this is going take some time for this to be sorted. Hopefully one day but I neeed to be fitter, stronger and healthier by this time.

I was scrolling through updates, noticed a fellow Spark friend of mine had commented on your blog, so decided to take a read of it too. Wow, you are certainly progressing! Great work - shows how dedicated you are to making sure you are as healthy and fit as possible.

You really inspired me, and brought something to my attention, something that I'd noticed but not actually thought about in my own life - I walk my dogs every morning, rain, hail or shine, and generally 3 or 4 times per week we go for a super fast, long walk to a friend's house. She and her dog then share a more leisurely walk with us in a more undeveloped area, back to her place, then I walk home as quicklyas possible with my dogs.

At first I was almost breathless by the time we arrived at my friend's front door, and again after our walk home. I've noticed the past two weeks that I've been enjoying the faster pace, that my heart rate is no longer so high as it was... Maybe it's time I too upped the pace a little, or even dared to find another form of exercise that would lift the bar just a little higher...

Definitely something to think about, all thanks to your blog! Thank you so much - I am so glad I discovered it. emoticon emoticon

    Thank you all for your comments, it really is a bit of a juggling act with me bacause of the kidney disease. I have to limit my protein so I cannot fill up on this. I also need to limit my fruit intake because of pottasium.

A few years ago I used to make a heap fo fruit salad and have a spoonful throughout the day unfortunately I cannot do this anymore as I would send my pottasium levels through the roof. Then the doctors would not be very happy with me again.

    You are doing so well Wendy - there is so much conflicting information out there. Maybe some protein like a boiled egg ( I boil about six at a time and have them in the fridge for snacks) would stop you from feeling hungry at night.

    I'm glad things are going so well for you... even though the grandkids are still an issue, at least you have SOME things in your life going right!

Are you keeping your journal here on SP? The planner has a place for that, and it can be as private as you want it to be... I don't use it much any more, because my blogs have kind of taken over that function for most of things I journal about, but it's there and readily available whenever I feel the need. I should do that more... LOL

You are such an inspiration to me, sweet friend!

    It's true! Try to get the bulk of your carbs in, actually, by noon. IN other words, eat the most carbs @ breakfast, less @ lunch and minor amts. @ night. I find pairing it with a protein really helps (i.e. something like peanutbutter on a whole wheat cracker). It keeps you full.

Also important to be sure you get the good fats (olive oil, safflower oil, avacado) as that also is vital for carbohydrate metabolism.

HUGS and you're doing fantastically. Proud of you!

    Wendy, Eat the way sparks people suggest. It doesn't matter when you eat. Use your trackers plan It tells you how many carbs, fat, Protein to eat for each meal and snack. I have been given totally different advise by my doctors and a nutritionist and a weight consular: all different. It makes more sense what SP teaches. You are doing great. You must be getting very muscular with all that exercise. Muscles burn more calories. Try not to compensate by increasing your calories. That would be non-productive in your plans to lose weight. Stay healthy. emoticon

I am glad you are upping your intensity and you will soon reap the rewards on the scale ..
Always remember that muscle weights more that fat and you could be losing fat without really knowing it .. so my friend go by your measurements, or the fit of your clothes.
I am glad the journal is helping ..
Having a journal and recording on there as well as on Spark Peoples Trackers is a double check in .. and as you say, being on your journal too... it is in your face every single day ..

I am sure all will be resolved as far as the children are concerned ,will happen soon There is no way the authorities will allow children to be in the danger they are in .
