Pottasium is now back to normal levels. I think I must have done something wrong. i did have a couple of bananas in the last couple of days. I wonder if this done it. But I have eaten bananas before but probably have never had a blood test the day after.
I will have to be careful now and not be a naughty girl. LOL

I do love a banana from time to time. . .so it sounds like eating that banana before your test threw it off. Please don't do that again.

Hugs,

Jill

Banana's are quite high in potassium .. a good idea would be to ask your Specialist when you see him !!

Had my blood test today and my doctor rang about 6.15pm to say that my pottasium as gone high, needed to go up there and get a prescription so we can get this level down. As I needed to start this tonight. Of course when I went down to the chemist they did not have this, they rang up the only other one that was opened at that time and they did not have it either. So I ended up going up the hospital and sat there for 3 hours, waiting to get the powder. I have now had my first dose and another tomorrow morning, then I have to have another blood test straight away.
Funny thing my creatinine and urea levels have improved again.
So that is an interesting blood test, not sure about any of the other levels.

Not much else to report but I am going to bed.

Goodnight.

thank you all, I did have another blood test today and the levels are now back to normal. Don't really know what happened. I spoke to the nurse today and she commented that the pottasium was very high and dangerous. So the 2 doses must have worked. I see the Nephrolgist next Friday so this will be discussed and even the treatment I had, so I know it was the right decision.

the medication was Resonium A. proper name is Polystyrene Sulfonate Sodium Powder. Don't really know if I like the name LOL. First sounds like foam, sodium we know what that is. sounds scary.

I do like to keep these doctors in their jobs and on their toes and throw in a curb ball every now and then LOL

more from yesterday's blog.

I have had many batlles with my mind. To be able to leave food on my plate and not feel guilty anymore that was a really big one. I remember the first time I did this late last year I nearly made myself sick because I did not eat it all, felt so guilty. Also to go out for a meal, the metallity was i paid for it so I have to eat it all. The guilt has all gone now but it has taken time.

I am now constantly eating from a smaller plate.

I am sure I am still going to have battles ahead but of different kinds, all related to the kidney disease I have but we will face these head on. I am learning all the time. Kidney disease is so tricky as when you do something wrong this will upset your blood tests and cause other problems.

Same as the meat, I love my meat always have, brought up on it. But now I will find meals where I do not have to have meat. But even this is hard because there are a lot of vegies I cannot have because of the potassium and phosphate in these.

So I really am only trying to do a balancing act to keep everything going properly.

But I am happy were I am, never really thought I would get to my happy place, but now I know there is such a place as this. It is all in the mind but mine is now there. i like looking at me in the mirror. I like and love me as a person.

i am in a very good place.

We all deserve to feel love for ourselves as we are right now--it does take time sometimes because we're taught at a very yoiung age that it's NOT okay to think of yourself first--

What you have found reminds me of that Whitney Houston song, "The Greatest Love of All"...

You last sentence is what makes me the most proud of all you've accomplished:

" I like and love me as a person." THAT is the essence of any change we make being totally positive for us!

I use smaller plates and it really does work for me too! When I go out to eat (and it really isn't that often), I just automatically put 1/2 the meal in a doggie bag. Out of sight, I won't eat it all!

You've come a long way, sweetie!

HUGS and wel done.

How do pasta dishes go with you? Can you have those. For the 2 of us I will cook 100g penne each and put 1/2 jar (freeze the rest) Raguletto sauce over the top. Quick, easy, and filling.

Maybe put out a cry for help and ask (in a blog) your Sparkie friends to come up with some recipe ideas that will suit you. In your blog you can state what you are or are not allowed to eat.

20th May Sunday.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Had a lovely quite weekend. Basically over my flu now at least I am not wheezing anymore.

I need to start doing more exercises again, I am walking heaps because I can do that in short bursts. Back to exercises tomorrow afternoon, I have missed this heaps.

Food is going good, sorted out some of the problems that I was having with the protein, carbs and sodium. Learnt some more things fromt he dietitian that I see about the food that I am eating, so that has helped.

Ended up putting on 1 kg again because of the lack of strength and cardio exercies.

One thing I noticed while i had this flu is that I didn't eat too much before I would eat whatever I could get my hands on. Now I had to tell myself to eat my meals. I have also noticed that I am not emotionally eating anymore either.
I have come a long way from when I first started on this journey.

Steps again for the week was just over 60,000 steps, a week ago when I was sick was just 30,000 steps. so proud of me. I have come a long way.

I have made lots of little changes, such as when I am out having a meal now I will divide the chips in half and only eat half of them. The other day I asked for half the cheese on the meal i decided to have. So half the fat. i really don't care now if I eat the whole meal or not now, I can leave some and not feel guilty.

I will have meatless meals now, never thought I could give up some of the meat.
I have been told that I still have to eat meat everyday but I have cut it down.

I am going okay, blood test in about 1 week time so that will tell if I have been a good girl. LOL.

bye for now.

So very Proud of you my friend ..
You certainly have come a long way .. and you are such a inspiration to us all ..
Just shows what can be done if we really want it enough ...
So glad problems with son are all sorted ..and you are feeling better.

Walking is the very best exercise: it is free, you use all your limbs, your lungs ...and it is weight bearing ..

I am sure you will get a good report when you see your Doctor ..
Don't worry about the slight weight gain ..
It could be fluid or a million other things... Just concentrate on your measurements and how your clothes fit but mostly how you feel..
