Sunday, day of rest

Sunday, May 06, 2012

yes I did have a day of rest today. Woke up this morning sore and acheing so I had to have some Paracetamol. Because of my kidneys, I do not take these very often but had to today. Beside being in hospital when I had the operation on my arm these are the first ones I had this year. So I am not going to stress over these.

Back to exercise class tomorrow. I will make up my rest day during the week.
Son came back today and got some more of his things. I am going to make his bedroom in to my exercise room.

Not enjoying the cold weather as I am eating more hot food, calories are okay but all my other nutrients are all over the place. Either the carbs, protein or sodium are much too high. The sodium and protein are no good for my kidneys. Need to get this back under control.

Wendy, I understand trying to balance those nutrients... I am still trying to balance protein, carbs, and fats. Keep on keeping on and you will get there.

You will LOVE having your exercise room where you have all of your equipment organized and stuff.

I love days of rest - but I cannot seem to get one these days. Too much going on and too much to do.

Keep up taking good care of YOU. Jean

I think the body needs a rest day once a week. If you exercise the other 6 days, a day of rest is earned and the body needs the break.

Hi Wendy, I had a good night's sleep which hasn't happened much recently but for some reason my arthritis is hurting like heck. Trying to think more positive like you. I also eat more and feel hungrier in cold weather so I understand how you feel. I am really glad to read you feel well rested as that is so important for all of us. You'll love having an exercise room and I'm sure your Grandies will also. Enjoy your day!

Love,

Jill

Oh man, I don't have kidney issues, but other issues and change . . . good or bad . . . sends things in a bit of flux for awhile till things normalize again. It will for you, in the meantime hang in there, and take as much control as you can of the amt. of salt and protein you consume. Hard? You betcha!

Change really DOES throw a monkey wrench into the works at times, but we can deal with that... no choice, really... LOL

I have been having a lot of the same issues, trying to sort through things I no longer need--and with my nutrients all over the place--not due to cold weather, but to changes in the OTHER direction! LOL

Sucks sometimes, but the others are right--you get through it and get things back in balance again, and everything will settle back into a newer version of whatever it is we call "normal"... *giggle*

I know emoticon

BE well, dear friend!...

So sorry you are having a bad time. Perhaps you should look into a more vegetarian based diet for the cold season. There are many meat free hot meal choices available. If you can cook from scratch, that probably will help your sodium problem as well as you would have control over added salt. You are such a brave lady. I admire how you approach life. Best wishes emoticon

Saturday 5th May

Saturday, May 05, 2012

busy day today. I did my exercises this morning, strength and cardio for 40 minutes. Then helped to shift my son as he is moving in with his girlfriend. So there was lots of walking, carrying boxes, packing his clothes and so on.
So with the strength today I met my goal of strength exercies 3 times this week.
so tired and sore.
Did some videos this week but I am happy with what I have achieved this week.

And you have every reason to be proud of your accomplishments this week! **I** am proud of you. You're an inspiration.

Hope you get a chance to take a breather this weekend, though. We need that too.

I remember back in the "bad old days" when I had no energy, felt horrible and just plain didn't want to do anything. Now I have so much energy that even when I'm a little tired, I just don't want to give up! It just feels too good to be able to do things.

2nd May 2012

Wednesday, May 02, 2012

wow I have had a busy couple of days.

Goals for May

1. To cook, make and eat healthy meals including 2 or more meatless meals per week

2. Increase my steps to 250,000 for the month.

3. Strength 3 times per week

4. increase my cardio workouts. I need to start doing different things.
Do 2 or 3 Spark videos per day.

5. weightloss goals to lose the next 700 grams in the next week.

6. Need to increase, increase, increase because I know I am fitter, stronger and healthier than I was so I can do this.

7. longer term is to lose another 3.3kgs to get down to where I was before my computer crashed last year. I need to get rid of these 4kgs to get to where I was.

8. At this stage I need to lose about 3kgs per month to make the 25kgs for 2012.

I need a fantastic month for May.

I started the month of well, keeping myself busy. Plus I have been cooking some very healthy meals. Vegetable pizza on pita bread. yummy.

I had vegetarian pizza but during the night I was thinking about what I called the pizza and realised that I used cheese so I changed it to a vegetable pizza.

thank you everyone. My goals are do-able but I need to do it. I cannot stay in my comfort zone any longer. I need to push myself. I cannot believe how far I have come to actually enjoy exercising and to want to increase this. I need to start doing variety, I have increased my walking but this is not going to get me where I want to by the end of the year. I am happy with the amount of walking I am doing but again need more.

Great goals! Wishing you success in achieving them. If you can afford it, think about getting yourself a heart rate monitor. I really like mine. It gives me an idea of how hard I am working. If I start slacking, it gives me incentive to pump it up. It is better to work really hard for 30 minutes than coast for 2 hours. You put your personal data in (age weight sex etc and it determines what your aerobic range should be. Wishing you a very successful May!

Interesting Wendy, I was just thinking to myself that I've not been doing much that's different. Sure I've increased my steps but now that I've reached this 'comfort zone' in my workouts I'm really resistant to doing anything that will challenge me.

The other day I had to do crunches and push ups for a fitness test with the BLC. Wow - that was not at all enjoyable and trying to side plank was just an hilarity!! So I am walking. I am doing weights - I am even doing lunges and squats - but I don't like DVD workouts. I don't want to run most days cos I don't really feel like it - every time I push I end up waking up all night with sore legs and hips but I know now that I'm not doing enough. Anyway, this wasn't really to tell you all about me but to say that I've been thinking too that its time to do something different but it's the old comfort zone.

Someone on the Biggest Loser tonight - an Olympic athelete said that a coach they had once said that pain (from exercise) was just getting rid of a weakness. I liked that idea.

27th April 2012

Friday, April 27, 2012

Hi everyone, it has been a nice week. Went of exercise class both Monday and Thursday. Really enjoyed both of these.
I have completed over 2000 fitness minutes this month so far and over 200,000 steps. I will work this out at the end of the month and plan to improve both of these total for May. LOL
Feeling really good and proud of myself.
The most important thing is the grandchildren will be here for the weekend. Could be here now. So I will be spending lots of time over my parents with the kids. That's is where they stay as my son lives there.
Have fun on the weekend.
