30th March 2012

Friday, March 30, 2012

I had a really good sleep last night. Went to bed at 9.30pm, very early for me and the alarm woke me at 8am.

I used sticky tape to stick up my pedometer as it keeps falling apart where the batteries are, so far it is working like that.

For the new people following my blogs. A little bit of my background story. I am so happy with what I achieved yesterday because I have chronic kidney disease, stage 5. This is the end stage and the last stage before dialysis. I also have a few other things wrong associated with the kidney disease. I do battle tiredness most of the time. Been anaemic for a number of years but I still battle on. Been having infusion since last year. I also had 2 major operations at the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010. They were both life threatening.

I proved yesterday to myself that I can do more than i do most days. BUT I also know I cannot do this everyday. I would be very silly to myself. So I am going try once or twice a week but this depends how I pull up today and tomorrow.

Well, I clocked 9236 steps today, this even surprised me. As I am tired today and a little bit sore but it still proves I can do it. So I must be fitter than I thought.

The grandchildren arrived this afternoon and they will be here until Monday afternoon.

Another improvement I noticed tonight , my 8 years old grandson was jumping for me to catch him which I did on numerous occasions. I ended up saying to my son "I never thought I would be able to do that" as for years I had trouble with my back. I had been going to see chiropractors or physios for years but it is now over a year that I have needed to go to one. Good stuff for me. Actually I started seeing a chiropractor before I was pregnant with my son and he is now 33 years old.

So many improvements for me. Way to go.
Just keep them coming LOL.

Sweet Wendy, I love hearing that you're getting stronger and doing as much as you can. I really admire your determination and stamina to be as healthy as possible. I sure wish I could sleep like that as recently I've been dealing with insomnia again. How wonderful that your Grandies are with you as I know how much you love them and spending quality time with them. Continue to take good care of yourself. You've come a long way Wendy, WTG!!

Love,

Jill

So sorry to hear about your kidney disease! You seem to be a strong, motivated woman despite what you are going through. I have gone to a chiropractor constantly for 18 years and it has helped. But, since doing all my walking and losing 54 pounds I have not needed to go as much. They make you feel like you have to go ($) or you will seize up and you need maintenance! Well, I beg to differ! I haven't been now in 2 months and I don't feel so bad. Back is getting better day by day!
Good for you on all your improvements and having such a positive attitude! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Just how good are you going, girlfriend. emoticon
Have you ever been to Rewarding Health web site. They sell pedometers and every time you reach 10,000 you get a code that you put into the website at S2H.com. When the point build up to whatever, you can redeem rewards.

I joined in August last year and the pedometer cost me $40 but they have them out for $20 sometimes on special. So far I have redeemed 6 x $10 gift cards from Target and Big W. Great stuff and now the pedometer hasn't cost ne anything at all and I'm still getting rewards.

Just thought I'd share that with you. You may be interested.

Hi everyone, thank you for all the comments on my last blog. I am going great with meeting my goals.

Wednesday
25 minutes of dancing (please don't fall of off your chair) I haven't danced in about 20 years. I thought that at least I can move the whole of my body.
plus 16 minutes of core ball work
plus 5500 + steps but then my pedometer fell to pieces. This was the last number that I had checked on so it would have been a lot more than that.
plus 100 chair marching steps.

Thursday.
drumroll please 10,272 including about 2000 chair marching steps.
plus 70 minutes at my exercise class.

So please I reached this target, it proves I can do it. But I don't think I could do it everyday as I am very tired tonight. However I am feeling especially good. I deserve every calorie I have burnt today.

Yep that is a biggie, I usually get about 6000 to 7000 steps. I have had my pedometer for about 5 or 6 months and I have only achieve this twice and both have been this month. I was shocked when I saw this number.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Hi everyone, thank you for all the positive comments on my last blog.

Update
Monday
5962 steps plus 1000 chair marching steps
60 minutes of walking
30 minutes of strength. including calf raises, boxing, core work on ball, seated leg extensions, squats and stretches

emoticon

Tuesday
5318 steps plus 1000 chair marching steps
60 minutes of walking.

eating is really good and I am not eating empty calories.

Just made a pizza using 1/4 cup white sauce with garlic, zucchini, capsicum, onion, and 25 grams of lite cheese on a pita bread base and it was quite nice. The white sauce is because I am not allowed tomatoes so this was the next best thing. Saw it on the Net about using this as a base. So a fairly healthy meal.
Have another one tomorrow (made 2). Did you see no meat. Ya for me.

So today I have been quite busy with housework, washing and the cooking, now I need to do some exercising. LOL.

Another goal I just worked out for April

7. 7000 steps times 30 days is 210,000. How close can I go. Wow something to aim for

26th March 2012

So many changes in the last couple of weeks. I am now the leader of one of the teams I am on. I was only a co-leader before. I have enjoyed being the Co-leader and now i am enjoying the Leader position. It has been interesting.

About me, I arm is healing well, still is sore but not as bad as it was before. So now I am starting to doing more exercises again. I have only been doing the lower body for the last few weeks.

Food is going well but I must confess that yesterday I had a few empty calorie things, met my calories but boy I was starving last night. I was silly to myself. It was things I can eat but absolutely stupid choices. i didn't have much for breakfast and i am sure that was the main problem. So I just picked. emoticon emoticon emoticon Not falling for the same trick today.

I am doing a lot of walking, in the high 6000 on nearly every day for the since the 18th March blog. Missed 2 days so not bad. I have been building myself up to meet my goals from the 18th

I have just joined the 8 week Diabetic challenge so that I can start to exercise regularly.

reaffirming the goals I set for April are

1. Start again on the first of April ( I have really started this already)

2. Walk at least 1 hour per day

3. plus exercise at least 1 hour per day (total 2 hours)

4. Strength train 3 times per week for between 30 and 60 minutes per time.

5. to start losing weight again so that I can make this year's goal of losing 25kgs.

6. for the 8 week challenge I will lose 4 kgs.

I can do this. I will be so much fitter and healthier. I will be a sexier babe at the end of the year with the 25kgs gone emoticon emoticon

Wendy, You have become such a good role model for me--thank you. You are doing everything right and don't worry about having an occasional empty calorie treat--we all do that from time to time. I really love your page it is so Spring Like and Easter is nearby now. Compared to our pound system in the US how much is a kg? I might just google it and see what I come up with. You are wonderful and I'm rooting that you meet all your great goals as you are so worth it!

He is extremely drunk

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Sorry I had to write this on here, only found it last night, but we have just celebrated St Patrick's Day and I couldn't resist.

Late one Friday night the policeman spotted a man driving very erraticaaly through the streets of Dublin. They pulled the man over and asked him if he had been drinking that evening.
"Aye, so I have> "Tis Friday, you know, so me and the lads stopped by the pub where I had six or seven pints. And then there was something called "Happy Hour" and they served these mar-gar-itos which are white good. I had four of five of' those. Then I had to drive me friend Mike home and O"course I had to go in for a couple of Guinness - couldn't be rude, ye know. Then I stopped on the way home to get a another bottle for later ..." And the man fumbled around in his coat until he located his bottle of whiskey which he help for inspection.

The officer sighed, and said, "Sir, I'm afraid I'll need you to step out of the car and take a breathalyser test."

Indignantly, the man said, "Why? Don't ye believe me?!"
