well it is all over here for another year. so sad. I had a fantastic time yesterday and so much fun. I did really well on my eating, did well in my calories. I am very proud of myself. I kept myself busy, helped serve lunch, did heaps of dishes, shelled the prawns. Was standing up for a few hours. instead of sitting.

Pedometer read 6700 steps the best ever.

I ate the least of all the adults, that was one reason I helped dish up is so I could control what I ate. Good thinking of me LOL. I stuck to my plans and only had a small piece of turkey and a very small pce of picked pork. They had a bit of other meat there like chicken, ham and silverside but I did not have them. But by the time I finished I was full, had very little for dinner.

I don't know how I used to eat that much before.

Now on toward 2012, I wonder what changes that will bring.

I hope everyone had a great Xmas.

Forgot to say, my oldest son flew out this morning to the Phillipines for a week, s I didn't get much sleep as I am a bit nervous about that. LOL.

Dear W, well done. I alo ate very moderately at Xmas and feel good about it, had 1 small piece of my homemade Xmas cake as I planned and no sugar cravings after it.
I wish Xmas was fun or me as it is for you. I dont like it.

It's pretty amazing to me too, how little I eat at one sitting now! LOL

I guess we can get used to about anything when we put our minds to it, huh?

You're doing GREAT, and I'm very proud of you--and I'm glad YOU are proud of you too! LOL

Happy New Year, m'dear!

Hi Wendy, you did really well keeping busy and controlling your calorie intake. Good for you - it sounds like you had a good day. I stuck to fish/seafood and salads yesterday plus a few sweet treats, and that worked well - taking it easy watching the cricket now! Hope your son has a safe trip to the Phillipines and back.

Congratulations on your high step count, keep it up! I got a lot of candy for Christmas that I'm trying not to eat too much of. Next year I need to give everyone a list. I didn't know people had any money. Good for you on eating less! I'm a vegetarian, so I eat less from that. But I'm also avoiding bread because it makes me sick. So I didn't eat much of dinner. I saved room so I could have some mincemeat pie and sparkling cider. I hope you have enjoyed your Christmas!

All good for you then Wendy. Wow though, that's a big trip for your boy!

My Christmas was still going until around lunch time today as DH and I spent the morning over at son's house with the grandies. We had our Christmas tree and presents this morning as we didn't see them yesterday. We had a lot of fun.

Everyone was thoroughly spoilt with so much food and so many gifts. Yes, all over for another year.

How's your weather in South OZ. It's been pretty wet here and is raining again now.

Merry Xmas and have a fantastic 2012.

I have been having a lot of fun in the last few days playing with the grandies. Lots of strength work because they have been jumping at me and I have been catching them and I am not sore. I thought I would have had trouble with my back tbut that is fine. Touch wood. LOL.

I have been doing a lot of walking but I am all ready for tomorrow. All we need now is a cool change as it is very hot here today about the 110F.

All the best

20th Dec 2011

wow where has the time gone. Three more sleeps until Xmas and I am getting excited. The grandies came over yesterday so I have already had a ball playing with them. I know I have so much healthier and fitter than I was, still have a long way to go. The kids have been running and jumping at me and I can manage to catch them now. They tried this once before and I nearly fell over just had no strength.

I have learnt more things lately, like I can not have leg ham any more. Even though I only had a 50 gram pce, it put my sodium level up too high.

Also learnt since I have had my pedometer how little I walk. I am averaging about 5000 to 6000 steps per day. Funny I am more active now yet not active enough still.

first small goal, no ham.

So my goals for the next month is to get the steps up to an average of 7000 steps. This I hope to achieve by the end on January 2012.

Keep playing with the grandies.

Mery Xmas and a very Happy New year. May all your dreams come true in 2012.

love

It really isn't worth the trouble it causes, is it. Maybe you could substitute some lean fresh pork... I can't, if it's not the salty processed stuff it literally makes me ill. It's ham and bacon or nothing at all, so...
emoticon

But there are worse things, and you and I both know we'd rather give up the ham than go through dialysis! LOL

I'm so glad for you, when I think back to where you started when you first joined us... I am amazed, what a wonderful, determined and vital person you are!

Merry Christmas, dear friend!

HI Wendy, how wonderful to hear you have been having such a wonderful time with your grandkids - and great that you are keeping up with them! Woo Hoo! It's incredible the things we keep learning, such as needing to stop eating ham - I hope you can keep your sodium levels under control so your kidneys have less strain. You are doing so well - I can hardly walk at all at the moment, let alone 5000 steps...will post an updated blog in the near future.

Take care of yourself and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and a happy and healthy 2012!

Love and blessings, Nattacia

    Merry Christmas Wendy,

I see you are having the same issues as I am. Ctemple is right. Leslie Sansone has great walking dvd's out there. I used the one where you can do 1 or 2 miles. I've done the 1 mile a number of times before and tried the 2 mile yesterday. I got my steps up to 9400 between that and shopping at at warehouse store and other errands with my husband. Keep up the good work. Learning is part of the process and it looks like you've learned alot. Have fun with your Grandies. Maybe they can join you as you walk away the pounds.

Ah yes! Keep walking and increase the steps a few each day. It helps. I love my pedometer. Keeps me moving!

Sounds like a wonderful, beautiful Christmas for you with all the treimmings! Funny you should mention ham. That's what Mom wants for christmas dinner, so I am making it, but going to be making 3 different veggies and a salad, so that will be what I concentrate on as the ham throws my sodium for a loop too!

Have a wonderful holiday! You are amazing. emoticon

Oh Wendy, I can't have ham either because it doesn't agree with me. Still not one of my fav things, now if we're talking christmas mince pies and my home made superb cake, yes I feel deprived but such is life.
Did you ever consider using one of those walking dvds ( walking on the spot), like Lesley Sansone's ones? It would add steps to your day ( the ones for beginners).
