I haven't got the results from my last blood test because I forgot to put my local doctors name on it so it went straight through to the Specialist. Silly me.

I have been keeping busy lately as I have a lot more energy now although i still do wear out by the end of the day, but that's okay.

Went to Adelaide Thursday for 2 doctors appointment, been cleared from one, so that is good news but gave me some advise so In need to remember that now.
The other appointment was to do with the kidney cancer I had last year and had a partial nephrectomy then. I am being very positive about that one too as he told me they thought I would have been on dialysis 6 to 12 months ago and I'm not. So he told me I am doing alright. So I was happy with both results. The next important one is for the Nephrologist which is next Friday the 9th. I hope he is happy too. LOL.

I have a had a very good week and my grandchildren are over so it is going to keep being nice. We are having a little belated birthday party for me with the grandchildren. It will be the first one that they have had for me. So going to be very special, one for the memory box. LOL.

I now have new scales as I still could not get the better and dearer scales to work. So ended up buying cheaper scales and they work fine, typical. I had put on a few kg's but at least I now know where I am in the weight department. So now I need to work on it to remove it again.

The only disappointing thing about the doctors's appointment is that they are pushing to have a lap banding and I don't really want to, so now I will have to prove them wrong. LOL.

So the main goal for 2012 is to lose 15 to 20 kgs 0r 33 to 44 lbs. So on toward next year but starting from now.

Have a great weekend.

Glad for the good news. Well, the lap banding is a consideration in the future, but nothing is etched in stone, as I always feel. So, give it your best shot to prove 'em wrong!! THEN if you feel that the right choice is surgery, you'll feel satisfied you did your best. That's all you can do.

HUGS!

thank you there has been some good points here but it will still be over 12 months before they would do it. I put my name down in Feb 2010, seen the dietician and the exercise physio a few times. Only just seen the doctor a couple of months ago and have another appointment in June and then possibly I will be put on the waiting list and that is about another 12 months so anything can happen in that time. I might not need it then hopefully.

    Hi Wendy,
Great news from your doctor's, I wouldn't want the lap band surgery either.
I'll be joining you with the 15-20kgs to lose in 2012.
Nice to have the grand kids around, ours are visiting next Friday, enjoy your belated birthday party!
Have a wonderful day,
Janet

    Wendy, great no-cancer news!

Normally, I would never encourage elective surgery. But, your situation is different. If having the surgery extends the life span of your kidneys, then it may be worth the risk. If you choose surgery it will not be a failure - it will be life giving.

Either way, we support you!

my birthday ya. Had a very nice day today went out for lunch, used my head with what I ordered so I am in my calorie and protein range. Going over my parents for a B-B-Q dinner tonight but have already stated that I am going to have only salad. My 2 sons will be there.

Food wise everything just seems to be falling into place after over 1 year of being a member of SP. In the last fortnight I have been coming in just under calorie range and doing really well on the protein.

The only thing I really need to do now is to exercise to the best of my ability. In that I need to be intelligent with what I am doing to burn the greatest number of calories. Then I will be very happy. LOL.

The only thing wrong with today it is so hot, with a hot wind. A very yucky day.

I had my blood test today a bit late, I hope to get the results on Wednesday, I am hoping for an improvement. I am also taking some tablets to help with my urinary tract, so this is why I am hoping for a little improvement.
Fingers crossed for luck please

I just got a birthday card from Sparks which was lovely, stating really what I have just written , it talks about reshuffling your priorities, and spending more time with family and friends and also taking care of your body.

It came at the right time

HI everyone, I have been keeping myself busy in the last few days to keep my mind of off what is happening to me.
I am eating very healthily and exercising.
I go to Adelaide on Thursday for my Urology appointment, but can't wait until I see the kidney specialist on the 9th Dec. Hopefully he can then give me some good news.
Had a very lovely day today, my brother, his wife and the 7 children came ove to my parent's house and we had a B-B-Q lunch, My 3 grandies were also there so had a very good day.
Ate within my calorie range, actually still a bit down, I am going to eat some yoghurt soon as I finish here.

I think you are doing the right thing by focusing on what you can immediately control and enjoying time with your loved ones. The medical issues will unfold in due time. At least that is what I am telling myself. I have my first appointment with a kidney specialist in Boston tomorrow afternoon. I had some testing done for something else in October, when they found a "mass" on my kidney. There were immediate discussions about a partial or full kidney removal. Then they did other tests - in all I've had an MRI, CAT and ultrasound. The latest opinion was I just have a genetically deformed kidney that is functioning fine. But, my local doctor wants me to see a specialist so he can review all my "pictures" to see if he comes up with a different/same opinion. So, I'm a little nervous, but staying positive. I hope things progress positively for you as well. Good luck!

Thank you for your support on my last blog. I am feeling a little bit down today but I think it was just the shock. What ever happened to me 6 or so weeks ago must have had some drastic effect on my kidneys. Still don't know what it was, I still do think it was some sort of infection but still nothing has shown up in the tests.

One good thing I weighed over my parents place this afternoon and I think I have lost weight. My weight was down even fully dressed and it was after breakie and lunch, So it will be interesting if I can weigh on my scales in the next couple of days as soon as I get out of bed and then we will see. Fingers crossed.

I have reset my page so I am hoping it has fixed the problem that some of you are having, reading my blogs.

Still eating properly and exercising, I won't give up the fight yet. There is still fight in the old dog yet LOL. I really do wished that I knew what I had to fight as it would make it so much easier.

Love you!

    Hi Wendy Dear!!
I so feel for you my friend .
What ever it was must have done a little bit of damage but do you know that your kidney fuction can still improve?
Just stay well on track with your exercise and healthy eating love.
Helen my daughter, who also has these problems.... turned her kidney function around just by losing weight and eating well .
The doctors don't know how it could happen like that, but it did happen and I am convinced you can do it too .

She only has 1/4 of a kidney working but she is doing really well .
One thing I did discover was a definate no no for her was Coke and soft drink in any form whether it be diet or not, it really upset her kidney function ..
The doctors are still out on that ..but I am convinced .
she was born with this and told she would not see 21 years old she is now 46 and doing better than she ever has ..
Take Care of your self my lovely Lass .
I am here for you if you need me ..
Love and Hugs Susie

Oh my, I just got to read your blog from yesterday. So sorry to hear the news! My sister is dealing with kidney disease as well, and has really had to work sooooo hard to remain stable. I am glad you're feeling better today. I understand how difficult it is to fight that "unknown enemy". At least with a NAME you know what you're fighting!

I went through that with my thyroid issues for YEARS. Finally found a Dr. that listened to me, and THAT'S when the healing began.

Sending good vibes and prayers your way. Never stop fighting! It's hard, but in the end, what are the options!!

HUGS!

Hi, I have been to the doctors and it was not good news, my kidneys have deteriorated. I am not stable any more. I have an urology appointment next week then an appointment with my nephrologist in December so I will find out more information then.

I will keep trying and doing what i am doing now. I will not give up yet.

Had a really good exercise class today, worked really hard and lots of perspiration. LOL.

I do have another blood test on Friday, so I will find out what that one indicates.

I am still hoping for some improvement, I did it before. So here goes.
