Baby William is here and getting ready to set some new goals!

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Well I made it through 9 more months of pregnancy for the third time! This was definitely the toughest pregnancy, but the easiest delivery! Recovery is slower than I want (I am impatient) but I know it's good to take this time to recover the right way so I don't hurt myself.
Once baby reaches 6 weeks old (a couple more weeks) I will be ready, I think, to work on some goals. What those are exactly I am not sure. I will take the next few days to think about it and set some realistic and achievable goals. I think I will set four phases of goals to ease into things again.
I know I will feel better once I can get back to an active routine and get sleep again! Just praying that baby William will settle into a good sleeping/eating routine so I can get my sleep again! But, for now I am muddling through trying to keep things together, the other kids somewhat happy, and myself from going insane.
Cheers!

Congrats! A phase plan sounds like a great idea, something to plan and work on once the little one gets into his own routine :)

2nd 5k done and improved! Yay!

Monday, May 18, 2009

I completed my second 5k last weekend and I ran it 3 minutes faster (35:00)!!! I was amazed, especially when this second race had more hills!

My next race is 7 weeks away and my goal is to run it with at least the same pace.

I'm looking for a good 10k to train for. Maybe I'll be ready for that in the fall? I'm also thinking about training for the 1/2 marathon that is next spring!

Anyone have 1/2 or full marathon experience? It seems like a big goal but I know it can be done with the proper training.

AWESOME!

WTG! I am training for a full marathon, and will be doing a half at the end of July so that I am used to the distance and can get an official time. I picked up Jeff Galloway's book 'Marathon: You Can Do It!' The key is to only run a few days per week, and to take walk breaks.

20 down, 20 to go!

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Well, I am half way to my goal weight!!! I am feeling better and definitely fitting better in my clothes. In fact, a lot of them are pretty loose! I just bought a couple pair of pants last week and now those are getting loose too!
I am really enjoying running, even though it is still a hard thing for me to do. I am feeling fitter and stronger every day. I run 3-4 days a week and do boot camp the other 3 days. It's been great and I really feel like I am in a good rhythm right now.
I know now, for me anyway, that this is something I am going to have to consistently work at. Once I "think" I have it conquered is when I start to have problems and return to old, bad habits.

Keep on keepin' on!

Never Give Up!

One more week of training for my 5k!

Friday, April 10, 2009

I can now run 2.5 miles straight! That is amazing considering where I was just a few weeks ago! I am hoping to conquer the last mile this next week.
I have been trying to come up with some inspirational movies to keep me inspired and motivated to reach my goal(s). This is what I have come up with so far:
Without Limits
Prefontaine
Chariots of Fire
Forever Strong (just came out on dvd, not available to rent yet, haven't seen yet)

What is your favorite inspirational movie?

I like GI Jane, Terminator 2, and Rocky. The first two are for the strength of the female characters and Rocky because well it's Rocky.

The Power of the mind

Friday, March 27, 2009

I have to admit that the past three weeks have really gotten me down. I had the flu and it's taken me a really long time to recover!

I was very frustrated that my exercise got put on hold for that long. I was really worried that I would have to start all over again. That all of my efforts from the past three months or so have been all in vain.

But, to my surprise, I went running this morning and felt really good! I was able to run about two and a half miles!!! I am a bit sore but nothing I can't handle.
I really believe that it was my determination to get back to it that got me through. It's amazing what our minds can do...as "they" say -- "mind over matter"! Having a running partner that won't give up on you helps a lot too!!!!!

I am hoping to be ready for the 5k race coming up mid-April.
