SPA Day at Home

I'm having a spa day at home today. My dear husband is giving me a full pedicure and haircut. I'm soaking my feet in a warm, bubble bath right now as he prepares his tools. He's picking the nail color: it's a pretty turquoise called Blue Streak.

This is the man who willingly supports my Sparking 100% of the time. He tries my SparkRecipes and loves them. Last night we had Low-Cholesterol Scalloped Potatoes. Check it out. It's incredible. He'd thought I'd gone off my Sparkdiet they were so good! He had seconds and leftovers this morning with eggs!

This is the man who cooks healthy recipes of his own creation listening to me talk about nutrition that I'm learning here in SP. HE'S the one who taught me how to saute in water. I recently saw a post on the Official Healthy Cooking Challenge team message boards saying the same thing.

But most of all, this is the man who is my teacher. He teaches more about the love of God in practice in our lives than anyone else.

I could go on and on. I have no idea who I am to deserve him. I'm so grateful for him. Thank You Dear God.

Discover Your Reason To Race

"Anyone who crosses the finish line always wins because winning could be finishing...or setting a personal best time..."

For me this time, it's all about finishing. When I bought my new heart rate monitor/pedometer, I found I wasn't walking as far as I had thought. My last 5K time was inaccurate because the mileage was off. That being said, my 1st real 5K race is set for this week and it truly will be phenomenal just to finish. This will be my baseline for the future when I walk to race against my own personal best time.

    Go Girl. Our neighbor who walks 7 - 9 miles 5 days a week. She is the one who told me how far the 5K was. It makes a difference. I know you can do this. Whatever you do, is great. lol

Letter of Encouragement To My Best Friend

Dear Cathleen,

You are AMAZING! You've been working so hard. I've noticed. I may not say something all the time, but I HAVE NOTICED. LOOK AT HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU'VE LOST: 47 lbs so far! You're only 27 lbs from your goal! You're doing terrific. Don't stop now. I know you're tired and it's ok that you rest. But don't rest too long. Don't go to sleep. Get yourself up and just do it. You know you can - you've done it before. I'm so proud of you for hanging in there so long. This "diet" of yours has turned into a lifestyle. You're much happier now. Keep doing whatever it is that you're doing, because it's working. I love that you're interested in things again. Where'd that fire come from? SparkPeople? Well, let's thank God for SparkPeople! I've never seen you so alive! You're glowing! I just wanted to let you know how terrific you're doing and encourage you to keep up the awesome work. Now, let's get out there and do it!!!!

1 Step back, 2 Steps Forward

When I miss-step, do things as right as possible as much as I can.

Pick 2 positive steps I can take toward my goals when I take a step backward (or sideways!):

1. Do a 10 minute workout video.

2. Cook a healthy recipe.

3. Track my food.

4. Drink my water.

5. Take a walk.

6. Re-Read journal entries.

7. Listen to an inspirational song.

Remember to externalize failure and internalize success.
