Dear Cathleen,

You are AMAZING! You've been working so hard. I've noticed. I may not say something all the time, but I HAVE NOTICED. LOOK AT HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU'VE LOST: 47 lbs so far! You're only 27 lbs from your goal! You're doing terrific. Don't stop now. I know you're tired and it's ok that you rest. But don't rest too long. Don't go to sleep. Get yourself up and just do it. You know you can - you've done it before. I'm so proud of you for hanging in there so long. This "diet" of yours has turned into a lifestyle. You're much happier now. Keep doing whatever it is that you're doing, because it's working. I love that you're interested in things again. Where'd that fire come from? SparkPeople? Well, let's thank God for SparkPeople! I've never seen you so alive! You're glowing! I just wanted to let you know how terrific you're doing and encourage you to keep up the awesome work. Now, let's get out there and do it!!!!

4. I want to control my high blood pressure through diet and exercise.

5. I want to be a positive influence on my husband so he can live a long, healthy life.

When I miss-step, do things as right as possible as much as I can.

Pick 2 positive steps I can take toward my goals when I take a step backward (or sideways!):

1. Do a 10 minute workout video.

2. Cook a healthy recipe.

3. Track my food.

4. Drink my water.

5. Take a walk.

6. Re-Read journal entries.

7. Listen to an inspirational song.

Remember to externalize failure and internalize success.

My Top Excuses To Not Work Out and Counter-excuses

My most common excuses that get in the way of my workouts and a counter-excuse:

1. I don't want to - just do it.

2. I woke up too late - work out this evening or do a cardio video or two during the day.

3. My husband upset me - exercise decreases stress.

4. I don't feel good - I'll feel better.

5. I'm tired - exercise energizes me.

2. 1 celery stalk, 1 T peanut butter + 20 raisins

3. 6 oz greek yogurt + 1/2 cup strawberries

4. 2 T hummus + 1/2 cup baby carrots

5. 1 cup popcorn + 20 oz sparkling water

6. 1 part-skim mozzarella stick + 1/4 cup marinara sauce

7. "Steph's High Fiber Brownie" + 1 cup skim milk

8. 1 "Granny's Mock Ice Cream Sandwich" + 1/2 cup frozen mango

9. 1 serving "Cream Cheese and Salsa Pinwheels" + 1/4 cup dried cranberries

10. 1/2 cup nonfat cottage cheese + 1/2 cup sliced peaches

11. 1 baked apple + 1 oz lowfat cheddar cheese
