Discover Your Reason To Race

"Anyone who crosses the finish line always wins because winning could be finishing...or setting a personal best time..."

For me this time, it's all about finishing. When I bought my new heart rate monitor/pedometer, I found I wasn't walking as far as I had thought. My last 5K time was inaccurate because the mileage was off. That being said, my 1st real 5K race is set for this week and it truly will be phenomenal just to finish. This will be my baseline for the future when I walk to race against my own personal best time.

    Go Girl. Our neighbor who walks 7 - 9 miles 5 days a week. She is the one who told me how far the 5K was. It makes a difference. I know you can do this. Whatever you do, is great. lol

Dear Cathleen,

You are AMAZING! You've been working so hard. I've noticed. I may not say something all the time, but I HAVE NOTICED. LOOK AT HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU'VE LOST: 47 lbs so far! You're only 27 lbs from your goal! You're doing terrific. Don't stop now. I know you're tired and it's ok that you rest. But don't rest too long. Don't go to sleep. Get yourself up and just do it. You know you can - you've done it before. I'm so proud of you for hanging in there so long. This "diet" of yours has turned into a lifestyle. You're much happier now. Keep doing whatever it is that you're doing, because it's working. I love that you're interested in things again. Where'd that fire come from? SparkPeople? Well, let's thank God for SparkPeople! I've never seen you so alive! You're glowing! I just wanted to let you know how terrific you're doing and encourage you to keep up the awesome work. Now, let's get out there and do it!!!!

When I miss-step, do things as right as possible as much as I can.

Pick 2 positive steps I can take toward my goals when I take a step backward (or sideways!):

1. Do a 10 minute workout video.

2. Cook a healthy recipe.

3. Track my food.

4. Drink my water.

5. Take a walk.

6. Re-Read journal entries.

7. Listen to an inspirational song.

Remember to externalize failure and internalize success.

My Top Excuses To Not Work Out and Counter-excuses

My most common excuses that get in the way of my workouts and a counter-excuse:

1. I don't want to - just do it.

2. I woke up too late - work out this evening or do a cardio video or two during the day.

3. My husband upset me - exercise decreases stress.

4. I don't feel good - I'll feel better.

5. I'm tired - exercise energizes me.
