Despite a foot injury that kept me out of cardio the last 10 days, I lost 2.6 lbs last week. Slow and steady is the name of the game. I can't help but wonder if I would have lost more with cardio. That's water under the proverbial bridge. Can finally begin cardio this week after walking 2 miles shopping on Friday. Didn't feel like 2 miles. I should go shopping more often! I am excited to get back in the game. I miss my morning walks and the sunrises in the park. I've continued getting 8 hours of sleep a night, most nights and kept my 4 AM wakeup time so that I could stay on a schedule. No sleeping in on the weekends or naps for me! I feel good. I love the quiet time in the wee hours of the morning. I'll be ready to meet the sunrise tomorrow morning as I take in the fresh air at the park. Here's to a healthy lifestyle!

Finally I can walk. Yesterday I went shopping and parked far from the stores to get some walking in. Besides walking in and out, I walked around the whole stores (Walmart and Academy). Got my 2 miles in. Strength trained before I went. I bought walking shoes, a sports bra, a resistance tubes kit, and a kitchen scale. Now I need to investigate more exercises for resistance bands and add them to my fitness tracker. Had a great time. We also found a steakhouse where I can go for my 50th birthday in July. I can hardly wait.

The biggest thing I noticed as a began cardio was that it gave me tons of energy. Now as I sit out due to a foot injury, I find I have much less energy. Rather than rate my energy as "very high" , I can only rate it as "moderate" now. I've gone to bed too early and thus rose too early, for the last 2 nights. My internal circadian clock is all messed up. I wish the city would open the public pool so that I could swim and do water aerobics. Swimming is an excellent no-impact exercise as well as a great all-over body toning exercise. For now, the best I can do is strength train Monday - Saturday as I am.

I played with my fitness tracker for a couple of hours yesterday, browsing all the exercises and picking 5 core, 5 upper, and 5 lower body exercises I was interested in. I was limited because I have no fitness equipment or access to a gym, But I'm happy with my new plan. I'm planning on working my core on Mondays and Thursdays, upper body on Tuesdays and Fridays, and lower body on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Sunday is my official weigh in day and day of rest. Friday I'm going SHOPPING! I need a good pair of walking shoes and some fitness equipment like resistance bands and/or light dumbbells. I'm excited and can hardly wait!

Today I did strength training for the first time in SP. Some of the exercises were easier than other ones and I was able to do it all, even the more challenging exercises. It felt good to work out. I didn't go for my 2 mile walk today. I'm saving cardio for Tues, Thu, and Sat this week. That way I'm working out every day except Sunday, alternating cardio and strength training. Right now I'm just trying to ease myself into exercising as I learn to eat healthy. I'm working hard to develop new, healthy ways of living that will last a lifetime. I don't want this to end. It's just the beginning of a fabulous journey. I learn everyday on SP, exercising the grey matter too. Thank you all for the unparalleled support.
