Glad to be running

Saturday, June 30, 2012

I'm enjoying running, except for sometimes when I'm getting ready to run. Running is one of those tasks in life that would be easy for me to delay each time, but I'm always glad when I've done it.

I delay and delay and then I do and feel so good when I am finished emoticon

Are you ABLE?

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

It's great to be ABLE to do the things that I either need to (for work) or want to (for work and family). Taking care of my body is important to me this one reason, as well as others.

I was able to pull gigantic weeds for 1 1/4 hours Thursday evening. My back and thighs held out really well, and I was only a little sore the next day or so. Really happy to be fit enough to work hard!

St. George Marathon

Saturday, April 02, 2011

I signed up for the 2011 St. George Marathon yesterday. The race isn't until October, but I think I want to use all that time for slow steady training. I ran my first half marathon this past February and it went fine. My primary goal for this coming marathon is to train and run it without injuring myself. A secondary goal is to enjoy the experience with my 17 year old son.

My next steps: recoup from a torn hamstring (doing well now), decide on a training schedule, and figure out how to buy some new running shoes for about mid summer.

Thanks, Nolarunner. I just checked out runnersworld.com and created a training plan. I agree that their paces are a bit slow, but I can easily work with that.

I am currently using the smart coach training plan on runnersworld.com. It's very pace specific and you can input when you want your long run, when the race is, etc and it spits out a training plan (free). I think the paces are a little slow but it's good since you're looking for slow and steady.

Late Dinner

Friday, April 01, 2011

We had a miscommunication, but that was no excuse. I thought we would be eating dinner at a normal time, but as it turned out we didn't eat until 7:30. I ate some snacks in the 5-6 range to ward of imminent starvation, however they were unfulfilling. When dinner was finally ready (insert: when the guests got here) I was telling myself to eat slowly and proportionately - I did manage to stay in my calorie range (by the skin of my teeth) but it was a frustrating way to do it. Maybe there will be a day when food doesn't mean so much to me.?

HI, just checked out your page after you posted on my blog. Thanks for that.... You've been around awhile, glad to see you have been so successful..

I felt so bad for the pastor at a church I attended about 7 or 8 years ago, because he was a very young man and had jut had a new baby and he must have been close to 400 lbs... Lost touch when I moved, but hopefully God blessed him with a a weight loss to allow him to be here and raise his kids..

God Bless you as well.

Down with breadsticks!

Monday, March 28, 2011

Today I went to Olive Garden with the family and managed to endure through the whole meal without eating any of the breadsticks. They're delicious, but definitely not worth the calories. I have no regrets tonight.
