one pound - thirty times

Monday, June 06, 2011

Well, I haven't had any successes in weight loss or exercise since about November. I had some life changes... lost my job, started traveling with my husband. Every day I woke up I had less motivation. My first problem is I tend to Overthink things. I know what I need to do but besides looking at one day at a time andt counting small victories I tend to see the BIG enormous thing I need to do... and then I get defeated. So today I am choosing to start again. One day at a time. One pound at a time. I don't get a chance to get on SP as much as I would like, but I am going to make a determination to do what I can.. and not get defeated by it. I know how to do this.. I know what works.
I overtook my laziness this morning and put in Billy Blanks Cardio Inferno and burned some calories. I have felt better all day just from exercising. So here goes to a new start. A new me!

Recipe Addiction

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

I just realized that I have a Recipe Addiction! I see recipes on the web, on this site, on other sites that I really think I would like. So I print them... over and over and over again. Turns out, I never fix them. I order recipe books because I love them! I love to read them... look at the ingredients; oh and ah over all the pictures that is in there. I even get the magazines.. :Cooking Light, Taste of Home's Healthy Cooking. Guess how many recipes I have actually fixed??????? NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy. I looked in my desk drawer and I would imagine there are a couple hundered recipes I have printed, snack Ideas, food list. Am I crazy! I think I have good intentions, and I do, but never even taste all of the delectable ideas that people have taken time to put in print. So today I am making confessions. Obsesssions with recipes. With that in mind, Today I am going to make a commitment to take one recipe to the grocery store, buy the ingredients if I don't have them, and simply cook myself something different. Just wanted to know Am I the only one???????????

I have stopped buying cookbooks but I still cut out recipes in newspapers and copy recipes from magazines I read while waiting at doctor's,salons, etc because I can't cut out. I have made a few especially ones found on Spark. I love to look at recipes on Spark and put in my cookbooks but really need to make more of these recipes. I hope your plan works.

A lady from my church came to the house the other day. She commented on my progress and the fact I had lost some weight. (YEAH!). Then she said you use that site.... Smart People right? I said well, it is SparkPeople... but I think that it is SmartPeople. I got to thinking about that. Those who are being disciplined, trying to get healthier, making wiser choices... they are smart people! I am glad I am one of them :) SO keep it up you Smart Sparkers!

Getting rid of the old!

Friday, April 30, 2010

My husband and I have ventured out into the Yard Sale world this weekend and are getting rid of some our things. The greatest part is I was able to go through all my clothes. All of the larger sizes OUT THE DOOR! Never to be put back in my closet. I am not hanging on to just in case this time. There is going to be NO "Just in Case". I am going to continue on this journey. If I have another baby, I am going to still be continuing in this journey with a healhty pregnancy. My next goal is to be able to get rid of ABSOLUTELY every piece of clothing that I have right now... and have to get a size I have never worn. It may be next summer, but that is a goal and a vision that I am going to stick with.. even when I have doubts. I know if I just stick with it... it will happen. Happy day!

Mind over Matter

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Why is it that one thing can be stuck in our mind... and we let it weigh us down (literally!)
I am pretty sure that stubborn pound that I worked so hard to get rid of was just a mental block. I finally overcame it! The whole next week it was still in the fore front of my mind that it was not truly gone, but it would haunt me the next week. SO what did I do? I skipped my Weight Watchers meeting and worked on it for one more week! I went back Monday, and yes it is still gone, plus a little more! However, I lost what I could have learned at that meeting because of a mentality. I know it is not all about the scale.. and even preach that, but when it came down to it I let it bog me down. I guess in a sense I did let it motivate me.. now, I am dropping more quickly. Heading to the next goal. I am just glad that I made the choice long ago that I am doing this for life... not for a season. So it really doesn't matter if I wasn't down that pound for those weeks... I am still sticking to it. That ... is Mind over Matter.
