Doing Chair Exercises...Chair Salsa For This Big Girl

I did my other dvd I hadn't yet before. It was called chair salsa featuring David Stamps. It was corny as heck but really fun and I got more of a lower body workout than with just the chair boxing.

I am going to alternate between the two to get results. As long as I'm MOVING for thirty minutes a day that is something. I miss my turbojam and tae bo but maybe when I've lost a lot of weight I can go back to conventional exercise. I'm hoping so. Rightnow it has to be plan B God willing.

At least I felt like I did something. Along with a diet rich in fruits and veggies I will lose this weight. I can feel it. G.

I'm Not Stopping God Willing

I have had to resort to plan B. Doing chair exercises and some calesenthics *sp?* to start working out again. My knee just won't let me do turbojam or tae bo. There is a chair workout dvd I will order as a reward for myself when I lose twenty pounds. It is a complete workout with weights and all kinds of things. It's called Chair-A-Cise and I want it.

Today I did my 30 minute chair boxing and some side leg lifts and kickbacks for my hips and thighs. It all equaled out to working out for 35 minutes. Thats great. I've got my coffee and its pouring down outside. I feel so accomplished. I don't feel fat today. What a feeling! I did something about my negative image I have about me and that feels really good.

Going At It Again

I did Turbojam fatblaster yesterday and was so happy. I modified all the moves and didn't do the jumping so I wouldn't hurt my knee. Now today my knee is stiff and so sore. I don't know what to do.

I have a chair boxing video I was doing. Maybe I should go back to it. And also a chair salsa video I haven't tried yet. Maybe that would help. I am eating healthier more fruits and berries on top of my hot cereal with flaxseed. I found a way to grind them in my coffee grinder.

I want to be healthy so bad. I want to be able to get on the floor with my daughter and play her games with her. I love her so much. I want to go on walks with her and not huff anf puff. She is almost ten now and growing so fast I don't want to miss my times with her God willing. Wow my knee really hurts. I cant imagine what's wrong with it I want to cry and give up but I can't. I lost fifteen pounds with the chair boxing so I can do it again I think.

Has anyone ever had a physical setback? I used to do tae bo and turbojam and never have a problem with my knees. Could it be all the weight I gained? G.

    Excess weight can definitely impact our knees. Every step we take they have to support all the weight coming down on them without collapsing.

To help, we actually need to exercise the muscles around the needs to strengthen the whole area. Check out this SP article for some exercises (most don't require putting a lot of weight on the knee):


If you have an option or way to include some swimming / water aerobics, they can be an excellent way to get cardio that doesn't put a lot of weight on your knees. Hand pedaling on an ergometer (I think that's the spelling) is another option if you have one available.

    I have not experience physical setback personally. But I do think that being heavier does affect your joints and bones. I think they have proven that scientifically. Better to do something that doesn't bother your joins (like swimming) until your joints get stronger. I recently had a chiropractor tell me that gaining and losing weight is hard on your joints and to take a joint support supplement.

I Haven't Been Consistant

I just now started working out again. I keep losing my motivation. I bought some flaxseed to sprinkle on my hot cereal for health reasons and some raw pure honey that is very good for you. I couldn't grind them with my coffee grinder so I just put them on top of the cereal and chewed them up. No problem.

I just did my twenty minute turbojam. It's that or chair exercises. I've gotten so big....205 at 5'1. I gained back the fourteen pounds I lost by dieting alone. I went beserk and ate everything in the house. I just can't stop eating some days. I want to control it like I used too. I used to eat pretty much what I wanted but I ate smaller portions.

I want to believe I can do this. I want to lose at least fifteen pounds by Thanksgiving. I think I can. I WILL. God willing. G.

Really Big Girl Here Doing Chair Exercises

I'm a really big girl now. 200 pounds at 5'1. I"m proportionate I have big chest and smaller waist and and curvy hips but let's face it for my health I need to lose this weight. It's affecting the quality of everything. I can't get on the floor with my nine year old to play a board game. My knee hurts and so does my foot from the plantar faccittis that happened when I gained all the weight.

I'm serious about this now. I did a chair exercise for thirty minutes today of chair boxing. It worked me out and that was good. I want to do something every day for twenty to thirty minutes and at least lose the first twenty pounds. I had lost fifteen and stopped exercising due to my hurt knee and put it ALL back on. How disappointing but I can't give up now.

I have to believe in myself. I have to believe and have faith God will help me. I want to be healthy and off my blood pressure meds. I would be happy with losing just five pounds a month until I get there. And drink lots of water. I want to lose the first twenty pounds before my parents get here for Thanksgiving God willing.

I am also 5'1" (part of the small and mighty!) and started at 212.

I am also doing chair exercises now, because of foot surgery a couple of weeks ago. There are some good ones with Coach Nicole on the Lifestyle Center Limited Mobility. Check them out!

    Concentrate on living/eating/moving in a way that makes you feel vital. You can be vital at any weight. emoticon

    glad you're moving...hope you can get medical attention for your knee & foot-no reason you can't be moving-sounds like you're young & once the weight begins to drop off, your foot & knee ailments will improve as well...keep at it! emoticon
