New job

Monday, August 04, 2014

A while back I wrote how I was being laid off from the school I've been teaching at for 10 years. But I am proud and happy to say that I have a new teaching job, teaching 5th grade. Going from teaching high schoolers to fifth graders will take some adjusting but it will be a smooth one.

Now my stress is gone. Now I can get back to losing the weight I've gained being stressed out over the past four months. I do feel a difference and have been eating better over the past week.

That is terrific on your new job. I work at Woodland Hills Junior High as a secretary. Govenor Corbett has been really tough on education cutbacks. What district do you teach at? Stress is horrible when it comes to eating habits, especially the unknown. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Stress and starting over

Monday, June 23, 2014

Stress...it does so much. I found out in March that I won't be back at the school, I currently teach at, in the fall. Our school is still in session, we go year round with periodic breaks. Budget cuts from the state are my demise here. So, I have been applying for every teaching job under the sun. I most likely will have to take a pay cut, but I will be working. Only had one interview so far. I have not been exercising regularly. It went from six times a week to one. Just don't feel it. Not motivated. This is making me extra tired and I just want to sleep. At times I feel up for it but then again not at the same time.

Bring on spark everyday is a good first step. Take care of yourself and everything else will fall into place.

I'm sorry for the bad news, re: your job. I'm friends with a lot of teachers and I know how stressful that life can be because of state budgets.

It's okay to let yourself feel unmotivated and bummed sometimes, I think, but the important thing is to get past it. That's tough sometimes.

Push thru this period. Try to set small goals such as 10 minutes per day of physical activities until you can get back to your routine. Good Luck with your job hunt and don't be too down about it. It will improve. Just keep pushing forward.

Week 1 down

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Week 1 of no starches went better than I could expect. I had headaches the first two days but managed to get through the week. People at work asked if I was feeling cranky. Not really. Anyway, weighed myself this morning and I was down 4 lbs. That is the biggest loss I've ever had ever. Plus I feel smaller. I'm not bloated anymore. I don't even miss having the starches. It's tough when I make dinner for the family but I'll just have a salad with some tuna on it and I'm satisfied.

No wheat or starch

Monday, January 20, 2014

Day 1 of my no wheat or starch. It felt hard but in reality wasn't. I'm also adding more fish and trying different vegetables to my menu which was my New Year's resolution. So today I made myself fish for lunch. I guess it looked good so my daughter asked if she could have it. She never eats fish so I gladly gave it to her. For my lunch I had a huge salad and some vegetable broth.
Now the end of the day, I'm not bloated or gassy. Perhaps wheat and starch was making me feel 10x larger than I really am. I'm hoping cutting these things out of my diet will get the scale moving again.

For the past month I haven't done much regarding eating well and exercising. The result...a six pound gain. Shocked? No. I had a talk with myself and if I want to fit in my clothes again I need to get back on it. Yesterday, did really well. Went for a walk - and got hubby to come along too! My excuse for not exercising. My son using the computer so I can't play my dvds to exercise in my room. Ha! Lame. My answer: got out the portable dvd player we used on car trips. That's right. No excuses. Can't wait to do my Zumba tonight.
