Spoke to my Mom on Saturday. Had a great chuckle. It was her birthday, she turned 83. She lives in New York, I live in Alaska. She has told me several times, she does not want anything, not even a card. She is trying to get rid of everything. So being the dutiful daughter, I sent her a birthday card and a fruit / flower basket. Thank goodness she LOVED it. So she was pulling everything out of the basket (my sister was there helping her) trying to figure out what everything was. She has never seen a mango, much less eaten one. Was lining up the apples and the pears. Got to the bottom of the basket and there was a whole coconut ..... what was she going to do with that? How was she going to open it? It was a toss up who was going to smack it against who's head to crack it open. Hoping that my brother-in-law has some tools that they can borrow.

In the last week, I have had one friend travel to the Mayo Clinic to have a tumor removed from her kidney. Have just heard that my cousin is facing Stage 4 Cancer. Reading SparkFriends blogs about trauma's in the their lives and in the lives of their family's. I have to say "Thank You God" for watching over me. I have been saying prayers for all of my family and friends that they may heal, recover and find peace in their lives. I am counting my blessings. Sending out lots of hugs to those in need. Never say good-bye without telling people that you love them. Only God knows if you will have the chance again.

Over the last two weeks I have been seriously slacking. Where I work, there are 38 field guys that come into Anchorage for a two week safety / training period. During that time, we have tried to provide continental breakfasts, lunches and snacks for them. I have also attended a couple of Benefit dinners for friends, my usual Friday Date Nights and then Valentines Day.
Besides eating poorly, my evenings have been booked and I have not been doing my usual workouts. I have a goal to try to lose an additional 10 pounds by my birthday May 19th. That is three months from now. Guess it is time to quit typing and get off my rear and get back on the wagon !!
Talk to you later Spark Friends, I am off on a mission!

I get to work at 6:30 am and usually try to leave work at 4:30 pm. Was just starting to shut down my computer at 4:45 today when the phone rang. It was Hubby. Asked him why he was calling so late, his response was "why are you still there?" Long day. Wanted to finish up just a couple more little things. Got up to deliver some papers to another office and realized that the lunch we had set out for everyone (leftovers from yesterdays luncheon for the additional 38 employees that are in from their remote work) was still sitting out. Someone needed to put it all away. So my alias at work is either "someone" or "Mom". If Momma don't do it, it don't get done .... Had to smile at Hubby. He responded with, " I knew it was going to be that kind of a week for you and just called to say I love you." Guess I will survive the extra work. It's Hump Day - the week is half way over and it is Positive Wednesday!
