Some thoughts

Monday, June 10, 2013

Here are some thoughts I had about weight loss this morning and some of my own tips:
1. Eat at home. Eat out rarely...like for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
2. Drink your own coffee. Skip the coffee stand and save lots of calories and money at the same time!
3. Exercise a little every day. Notice I said a little!!! If you do too much you end up hating exercise.
4. Eat some fruits and vegetables every day, preferably organic.
5. Unless you have teenagers at home, cancel that Costco membership. Nobody needs the ten pound bag of chips.
6. Take care of your mental, emotional and spiritual health. Read a book, call a friend, take a class, join a support group, get involved! Buy yourself something pretty.
7. Tell yourself every day that you are beautiful and lovable exactly the way you are. This is for two reasons: first, because it is TRUE, and second, because research seems to indicate that people who think positively are far more likely to reach their goals.
That's all for now, spark friends! God bless you all and have a beautiful week!

I hope all you Spark Moms have a beautiful and blessed day! Here in Washington the lilacs and rhodies are blooming and even the roses are barely starting to open! Let us all remember our moms with lots of love and try to make their Mother's Day as bright as we can!

And you added such beautiful fragrance to it. Thank you! What color are the roses?

Hope your day has been beautiful and that you have received many hugs and kisses from those you love...

Thank you for a view of the garden in your area.

I have had a nice day and got several things done outdoors. It was still a bit cool today but things are finally starting to come up in the perennial garden.

Hey spark peoples,
Last week I was lucky enough to hear a talk on "Christian joy" by a man named Dr. Tom Curran. It was SOOOO good! I needed to hear it a long time ago. His main point was that we have to ASK for joy... persist in asking for it...don't give up!
I have had a lot of disappointments and heartaches the last few years and this talk really gave me hope. If we could only realize how much God truly loves us, we would have joy even in the midst of great trials and sufferings and sorrow.
I hope all my spark friends are doing GREAT!!! Happy spring!

The last 1 1/2 yrs. was hard for us as well. Finally things are starting to turn around. I have to admit, our dogs helped with keeping the smiles on our faces. Always making us laugh. And praying like crazy as helped. Prayers have been answered. Hope you have a wonderful Spring too!!

There are a lot of opportunities for joy that i overlook everyday. i think we look ahead to "special events" so we do not notice all the simple things that go well in our day.

Letting go

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Hi spark friends! It is still winter here in the Pacific Northwest. That means lots of chilly rain! But I heard the varied thrush this morning so I know spring will be on the way soon.
My big mental challenge right now is letting go of the decisions my children make (they are all grown.) I have to give them to God and trust Him to lead them where He will. It isn't easy for me because I like to be extra helpful and try to "fix" things!
I am also trying to get my pantry organized and get at least three months of food and water stored.
God bless you, my spark compatriots---

I am in the Northeast and waiting for signs of spring too. It's been below zero for a week and I'm getting a bit cranky! it is very hard for us mothers to let go and trust God (and all we've instilled in our childre). I am working on that too.
Good luck with all you're working on.

Happy fall!

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Well I am feeling more positive these days. I still have issues with the choices some people in my family are making but I am doing better at turning these things over to the Lord. If He wants me to say or do anything, may He give me the words! The good news is that my younger son is back in school and PAID for it himself with his money from his Alaska job. His finger is a little shorter but that won't slow him down.
I am just so grateful to have my grandchildren close by! And I am grateful for the nice people I have met here on Spark! Blessings and a Happy Fall to everyone! emoticon
