Am I really going to do this at 32?

This is a mental fitness blog. Yes kids at the age of (almost)32 I am going to be going back to school, while still working on weight loss, working full time, running a side business, and planning a wedding and most likely having a kid before I graduate. Yeah I am feeling that moment of what am I thinking, but I know I won't regret it. I did talk it over with my fiance since we're are now a official 2 person decision (you know what I mean), not that I was surprised but he was supportive of it, knew I picked the right one emoticon. Now comes the fun process of filling out paperwork, finding the best price, and of course who transfers my Kaplan credits. I am excited to officially get my Bachelor's degree, oh and I am doing business administration, it leaves my options a little more open than my criminal justice degree.

    No worries. You've got this like you've got everything else. My hubby is 40 yrs old and just graduated college with his bachelors. My dad went back at age 54. Never too late. :)

    I got my degree 15 yrs after I graduated high school....so I was 33 yrs old. That was in 1998. About 13 yrs later, I am back at it. I started school last yr for a 2nd BS.

    thats great love and with the right organisation and a lot of help from future hubby you can fit it all under one hat.i know you you thrive under pressure.just think another step forard towards making your and your future family life that what you want for them.so proud of you.how long would you have to go before you can graduate?will your wedding pass into school terms etc?you already know i think you are one awesome person well i donīt just think it anymore i know it emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    You can do it. I have been working fulltime, taking care of my daughter by myself and going to school. I sometimes wonder if I will ever be able to do it, but I am a year away from being finished and having my degree. Like you said, you won't regret it and it will be worth it in the end. The hard part is actually getting there lol.

Race Report: Pigman Olympic Distance Triathlon

After the weeks of debating I dropped to the Olympic about 2 weeks before the race after riding the course I knew I wasn't ready for the half iron distance.
The swim a 1.5k swim went decently well swam a 2:15 pace, for a time of 36:53 on the swim, I actually got out of the water feeling decent which is amazing considering I had totally slacked on the swim training. I took my time in transition making sure to dry off, it was a cool morning and I didn't want to freeze so my transition time was rather ugly in part due to the fact I struggled getting my socks on right so t1 was a blazing 4:27, then it was off on the bike the one area where I felt my training did not suffer from the ankle injury or motivational issues, 40k ride at a 15.2mph pace which is about my usual pace for a longer ride (also the wind and the rolling hill course, someday I will master hills) my time on the bike was 1:38:14. One thing that I learned from my training rides came in handy, I found that sometimes I struggle getting the water bottle in the cage so I used the freebie they gave out, 2nd time I took a drink boom down it went so in an effort to have a decent bike time I left it, I got one at the water bottle station, lost that one after one drink, so I got another one which I managed to mostly finish before it took a swan dive with a half gainer out of the cage. T2 I made sure to fuel up and get a little extra water especially since I had troubles keeping water bottles on my bike was 2:15. I was glad I saved the caffienated gel for the run portion because I was needing a little pick me up and it worked I did the 10k run in 1:22:26 which isn't horribly off of my 10k PR so I was happy with that. My overall time goal was sub 4 hour I was thinking I would finish around 3:55:00, my time was 3:44:12 good enough for 2nd place in the Athena category (140lbs and up)

August 20th It begins, this is the year...

After the triathlon on Sunday the real work begins, racing season is over except for maybe a few smaller races 5k, 10k, so it is once again time to focus on the weight loss. During racing season I just train, I don't actively try to cut weight, I hope that it happens but it is not my peak weight loss time. I will be focusing my efforts on HIIT training, strength training, with some bike riding and running mixed in (especially bike riding until the snow falls, then it will be on the indoor trainer) Hopefully we do get at least adequate snowfall this year so I can actually use my XC skis (I got to go a whopping twice last year). I say it every year since I joined SP this is the year I get to my goal weight. So this is the year I get to my goal weight, maybe I have the right motivation this year maybe the desire to be a toned bride will finally keep my eating in check on my bad days and motivate me to exercise on my sluggo days. I have been using my ring as a source of motivation when I want to eat junk I look at it and say need or want. I hope that I can keep this going to keep my bad food eating in check, so far so good. I have a picture of a wedding dress on my fridge to keep me out of the fridge. I'm rolling with it for now since it seems to be motivating.

A work in progress

I know the Pigman decision was the right one, of course I was a bit disappointed in not following through with my dream of the half iron distance this year, but I am really realizing though look how far I have come. I have kept my weight down and or lost all this year, I went on an awesome backpacking trip doing 10miles most of the days, I have done sprint tri's and half marathons, I have gotten faster in my shorter distance races. I will be doing my first Olympic distance triathlon, so there is no tail tucking I'm still taking on a new and big challenge. While I am still a work in progress I have come a long way.

    You're doing AWESOME things for yourself! Sometimes we don't reach the goals we had set initially, but surpass what we ever dreamed was possible. It sounds like you've done that. I mean really, did you ever think you'd be doing the kind of athletic things you're doing now? You have a whole lot to be proud of . . . and maybe next year the Pigman will be on your agenda.

    Good for you. It's good to sometimes take a look at the big picture as we sometimes forget that when looking at a small piece of the puzzle at times. I hope you enjoy your tri. I am working up to doing my first run. I have some health issues that I have to take into consideration before I start running, but I think that once I get the weight off the doctor will not have an issue with saying it is okay for me to start doing that. Keep up the great work!
