Canoe trip recap

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Friday, got out on the river after my sweetie made me a nice lunch with healthy sweets included. He is an excellent cook! Put the canoe in at Palo and had 10+ miles of river to paddle. After getting the hang of controlling the boat (I haven't done much paddling) we were off down the river. We got distracted looking at geese and momentarily got stuck in a shallow spot. About 2 miles down we pulled out to look for morels (its still early but we were scoping potential hunting grounds. At around 6 miles we got out and found a great sand bar for some camping or picnic area.

After taking this picture which I promptly sent to my mom, I put my phone and wallet back in its ziplock bag and into my jeans pocket, after paddling another 2 miles I noticed these items missing from my pocket needless to say very frustrating but the 2.5 hours after were much more frustrating. The trip overall was quite good and I definitely burned a few calories paddling.

Saturday was a lazy day consisted of attending a BBQ for a friend's birthday. We were going to bowl afterward but everyone decided they were tired so Mike, the dogs and I walked to the redbox to find a movie for the night.

Sunday we visited my parents and took our bikes with so we could ride the bike trails in my hometown. After returning home I took the dogs for a walk back to redbox to return the movie, Mike went out for a run, it was looking like it was going to storm so the dogs and I ended up getting a little running in too!

Overall a great weekend and in spite of the phone/wallet incident I look forward to many more paddling trips!

I feel for you losing the phone and the wallet - hope they turn up. Sounds like otherwise you had an awesome active weekend though! The one and only time I've ever been in a canoe, we sank in the middle of Lake Coeur D'Alene....that was an interesting day! It sounds like you will have lots of good memories from this weekend.

Thanks for the update and the picture! I'm glad you had a good time being active in nature (one of my favorite things). I hope that your phone turned up; what a bummer!

Rolling on the river

Friday, April 08, 2011

I'm excited going to be hitting the river tomorrow in a canoe and then biking back to the car how is that for fitness and apparently I am in store for a romantic surprise too! Time to get this night shift over and go enjoy the weekend!! Made an awesome vegetarian meatloaf found the recipe on allrecipes.com for vegetarian lentil meatloaf, I had to make a few tweaks I mean who makes food without garlic!!

Not me! Garlic makes a lot of vegetarian meals better.

Enjoy that trip. Envy you, we haven't done the canoeing and biking (except stationary) for a while.

That is great you found someone who treats you like you deserve! Every one needs one of those! Enjoy the canoing. I used to be on a dragon boat team and sort of miss it :-) Hope its a wonderful surprise and a wonderful day! Enjoy. I think I might want that recipe :-)

I don't think it will quite be that, we have only been together a few months, but I still imagine he is going to be quite sweet he insists that he doesn't want to slip in the romance department. It is nice to have someone that knows how to treat a lady though emoticon

Good week last week, gotta keep it up this week

Sunday, April 03, 2011

Last week I put in 21.5 miles between walking and running. This week I am already off to a good start and hope to continue with the progress I have made. The hamstring/back/hip/IT band thing I have going on is getting better, today after my run Mike helped me stretch and I think we will have to continue that cause it really seemed to help the back and hamstring a lot. Mike and I have also been doing crazy amounts of gardening and that will continue tomorrow just have to go get more free compost from the city and then we will be taking over his sister's yard and his mom's yard as well. Fresh healthy eating is only a couple of weeks away, at least for some things.

Work slowly through the hamstring issue and you'll get it back - I am the voice of experience on this one!

Sounds good. I have been thinking about gardening myself. It i probably too early here since I did wake up to a little bit of snow on the ground.

Injury getting better

Friday, March 25, 2011

My mind is chomping at the bit to get myself training hard again, but the really rational part of my mind knows to stay the rehabilitative course I have been going right now. The truth is I'm still getting in the miles still logging the strength workouts, I'm just giving my body the chance to actually heal while doing so, but yes, oh yes it's making me a bit crazy. I will probably only get 17 miles in this week down from my 20 last week, but I had a work training day that kinda through the plan for a loop, I'm still here, still standing, and still striving to be a better injury free me. Foodwise I had 2 so-so days and 2 rock star days and 1 let's not talk about it. Gotta get rid of those let's not talk about it days. Need to look at the old blogs and look up some facts from last year so till next blog...

Actually just found what I was looking for didn't take as long as expected. Was just looking to see when I ran my first full 2 miles with no walk break April 7 2010 wanted to look so I can remind myself I am ahead of where I was, I just have to break back through emoticon

Logged 20 miles this week

Saturday, March 19, 2011

I am really happy, granted most of it was walking not running, its good because I am getting something in instead of feeling sorry for myself and my injured body. Rocked out a nice hilly 5 mile this week, started week 2 of the push up challenge, started the sit up challenge, had a so-so eating week. I'm not complaining too much plenty of work still to do but I am here and I am working each day.
