Injury getting better

Friday, March 25, 2011

My mind is chomping at the bit to get myself training hard again, but the really rational part of my mind knows to stay the rehabilitative course I have been going right now. The truth is I'm still getting in the miles still logging the strength workouts, I'm just giving my body the chance to actually heal while doing so, but yes, oh yes it's making me a bit crazy. I will probably only get 17 miles in this week down from my 20 last week, but I had a work training day that kinda through the plan for a loop, I'm still here, still standing, and still striving to be a better injury free me. Foodwise I had 2 so-so days and 2 rock star days and 1 let's not talk about it. Gotta get rid of those let's not talk about it days. Need to look at the old blogs and look up some facts from last year so till next blog...

Actually just found what I was looking for didn't take as long as expected. Was just looking to see when I ran my first full 2 miles with no walk break April 7 2010 wanted to look so I can remind myself I am ahead of where I was, I just have to break back through emoticon

Logged 20 miles this week

Saturday, March 19, 2011

I am really happy, granted most of it was walking not running, its good because I am getting something in instead of feeling sorry for myself and my injured body. Rocked out a nice hilly 5 mile this week, started week 2 of the push up challenge, started the sit up challenge, had a so-so eating week. I'm not complaining too much plenty of work still to do but I am here and I am working each day.

    20 miles is 20 miles. I can't even do 30 in a month. GO YOU! That's awesome!

Day 3 Push up Challenge

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

I'm still battling the injury right now, but I have been doing things to keep in shape, walking, biking, and I started the 100 pushups in 100 days challenge. Tomorrow is a run day hoping to go pain free or mostly pain free and get some decent distance in. I am definitely frustrated but I am positive because there is still plenty of fitness to be had.

On a fun note got my indoor garden rocking, tomatoes just blew up over night! and I noticed my one pepper plant looks ready to pop, so while I am at work I cranked the heat in the house to give them a little boost! I also ordered a bunch of fruit trees and vines which should be here the first week of April, in the meantime there is plenty of fitness to be had working the soil in preparation for the trees oh and in getting the house organized before Mike gets here. He made quite the tree order as well, we may have an over abundance of fresh fruits and veggies if that is even possible.

The IT band is on fire, I have been stretching it like crazy and it is not wanting to feel better, so far this year running is really frustrating me emoticon

Oh my! I'm so sorry! The elliptical, a foam roller and yoga really helped me. I was off for about 5-6 weeks. But still crosstrained.

Stretching only helped me a little. Have you tried a foam roller?? You can also check out runnersworld.com for exercises and stretches you can do to help it. Sorry you are having such a problem!!! Wish I could help you!

Get it checked and if stretching is the cure, add a foam roller in the mix and a good massage therapist.

Perhaps you better get your IT band seen to.. Make sure it is something that can be fixed with just stretching.. Treating a injury wrong can prolong pain..

Utah trip

Monday, February 28, 2011

I had a great time even though it was much too short. I ended up getting alititude sickness after snow shoeing in the mountains and so I didn't get the chance to hit the slopes snowboarding etc. that being said it was still fun, went to the Prehistoric Museum in Price, yeah I'm still a big kid that loves dinosaurs and fossils, probably why at one point in my life I was a geology major. I picked up a brochure on how you can volunteer in the summer to go out and help dig, this may be an upcoming vacation for me. Really needed about a week and a half out there, guess that is what the summer trip is for (11days canoeing and sight seeing). Working on getting plants and trees for my yard and working on my organic garden, although it will be with much help from the BF who has the green thumb that I lack! I knew there was a reason I liked him emoticon! Got a busy month preparing for him to move in, Yikes! J/K I am excited but it is a huge step and also the fastest way to learn how annoying someone really is lol! I also need to get my butt in gear been kinda slack and not training as hard as I want to be for the mini, so time to get some motivation and go juice and get serious about getting a new half marathon PR!
