My mode of transportation to my race today a 1.1 mile warm up jog. 8k completeI am happy with my time 1:01:?? I will have to post the official time once the results are up later but I am pleased with this run, no walk breaks once again, I remember when I was so excited about running 2miles with no walk break so I am definitely out there getting stronger. I had some ghetto a$$ chump ask me if I wanted him to run for me, I told him I was good, but I really felt like stopping and saying if you wanted to run you should have signed up because while I may be the slowest runner out here I had the damn courage to be on the start line wearing a race number and a timing chip! I am the winner because I do that I am not out here with my lazy crack smoking self ostracizing people that are giving it their best! The thing is my feelings weren't hurt I just thought he should know that it takes courage to start. I had plenty of people that were encouraging me and cheering for me what does your crack smoking get you? Anyway finished the race with a jog home and a little detour to get the rest of my mileage in! I freaking rock!!!

    Great job! I ran an 8k today too! It was a lot of fun and a nice distance. The nerve of some people though, huh! Try to forget that bad part and remember that YOU DID IT! Yay you! Keep up the good work!

3 day weekend ahead and of course another race!

I am looking forward to the long weekend a lot going on hopefully some healthy bbq options (I will be bringing something healthy for all of them). Running an 8k on Sunday it is going to be part of a 10mile training run. Was happy to learn that I was in fact the inspiration for one of the guys at work to get back into running. All of my talking about running made him want to do it again. We actually enjoyed a really nerdy discussion on running, gatorade and which flavors quenched the best, also gels and post race rituals. Very, very nerdy and I know anyone listening would have been like OMG is she seriously talking about running again. Yes, yes I am. It has become one of the centers of my life and I will talk anything that I am passionate about into the ground. P90X, Insanity, Running. It's not all I am but it helps make me a better me! I digress! Long weekend...yeah!

    First off, enjoy your weekend and your runs! I am somewhat like you in that I do find myself talking about health to just about everyone. It is pretty funny when people will ask me what I think and I am like I am not expert, but they are like just tell me what you think, okay?

    You talk of an 8K like it's a walk in the park :) I think it's great that you're talking to anyone that will listen about it! The world needs more of people like you...people who are positive about something - we truly have enough of the other!

First Speedwork session complete.

Completed my first speed session actually a tempo run for all the technical running lingo. It was on the pace I was supposed to be going but coming off the half it proved a push to keep the pace but I did. I am going to get fast before Chicago at least for me fast! Also finished my weight loss contest down another pound for a total of 6.5lbs lost throughout would have liked it to be more but I will take every pound I can get. Now if I can keep going in the direction I want to go running faster will be a lot easier. Running at 190 would be a lot less stressing to the body than running at 240!

1. lots of running (follow full marathon training plan to the letter)
2. strength training (p90x) get back on this schedule
3. Active recovery days (Insanity) keep the cardio level high!
4. Focus on food as fuel, meal plan according to workouts scheduled.

    What marathon training plan are you following? You got a nice plan and you are getting some serious training in with the addition of P90X and Insanity! GO AHEAD THEN!!!
