Love my new Garmin Forerunner

Monday, May 24, 2010

While waiting for the heat to subside yesterday I decided I could no longer live without one, a Garmin Forerunner, it does everything: tells time, calculates miles run, pace, calories, and keeps track of workouts and has a virtual training partner! It means that I can just run without pre driving all my routes and that means I can hit the trails and not have to pay attention to the mile markers that are few and far between!

The sudden change from 50s to 90s is an interesting change my body was not overly thrilled with the change in weather but I will suffer through and build up a tolerance to it and soon it will be nothing to run in the 90 degree weather.

A big change to my life this year now that I have lost weight, I actually get my workouts and yardwork done even when the weather is 90 degrees definitely hurray for that!

58lbs down 62lbs to go...time to be serious!

Friday, May 21, 2010

I had been being slack, maybe you could call it burn out or whatever but I am back with a vengeance I have 62 more pounds that I would like to see take a permanent hike. My new calendar system is working at least to keep me on track with what needs to be done! Now it is time to remember the basics, veggies, water, lean protein, packing healthy lunches and cooking in advance. Exercise at least an hour a day a combo of strength and cardio. I mean plain and simple isn't this what has worked for me, for everyone! So for those of us that are in a rut, frustrated wondering what have we been doing wrong...I'VE HAD MY REALITY CHECK and I know what needs to be done and there is nothing stopping me but excuses!!!!

I told you what CAROLYN1213 said "I have no choice, I will move forward. The road isn't any shorter between where I am and where I am going if I just sit down on it and stop. And going back is not an option"...We can do this!

I keep using those excuses so haven't made much progress. I pray every day, it will be different. If I don't try, it won't happen. That's what BOTZZ says!

New plan to get weight loss moving again!

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I have been stuck at basically the same weight for 2 months, not for lack of exercise but more due to overeating because of exercise. I am taking back control. I have developed a new calendar system for myself to get my weight moving in the right direction, I have taken things that I know help me lose weight and am keeping diligent track on this calendar. For me these items include: log ins for sparkpeople (means I will track stuff and blog), calories (normally not much of a counter but I think I need a reality check, especially after long runs), strength training(for this it can be a full workout or just some push ups and ab work just something for muscular endurance), cardio minutes (mostly in the form of running but also in the form of Insanity). I have been having a hard time with the motivation that I had a couple months ago (I know big surprise cause no one loses motivation) I am trying to recapture the motivation and energy that I put into my nutrition and exercise back then. Wish me luck although luck isn't really what I need, I just need 2-4 weeks to get back to what made me successful before!

I love how you stay accountable by sharing the details of your weight loss journey - you inspire me! I also do well with a calendar that clearly schedules my workouts (hello, P90X and distance race training!). I can relate to the "munchies that never stop" after long runs, and have been overdoing it on too many occasions, sigh!

Here's to a fresh start of revamping what we know works and walking the talk, LOL!

I love your honesty! Those calorie counting reality checks can really be ...well, a reality check :)

I just know you'll do great - we'll keep motivating each other, okay?

Thanks for blogging this. This is exactly what I need to do also. I already have a calendar of my work outs I do but I lack in the counting calories too! Its easy to think we are on track with eating when I am not. I also make the excuse to much that "well I am going to workout tonight so I can eat this..."

emoticon Sounds like you know what you need to do to get going. You're doing great and have motivation. Check in with us often and from my experience, the contact with my team mates is what helps keep me on track. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

Premonitions and workout adjustment

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I had a feeling today as I set out for my run today was a good day to cut it short! I was right I got to work today and had to do my agility course not really a big deal by any means and I would have been fine doing it after an 8 mile run but it was a lot more comfortable after a 4 mile run so while I have to shift a workout somewhere I am happy I did because my body would not have wanted to do anymore running today after an 8 miler!

I'm a dork, but I HAVE earned it

Monday, May 17, 2010

So today I ordered my half marathon bumper sticker, and charm, and a running mantra tee that says "running down a dream-26.2" so yes I am an incredible dork for doing so I am sure but I have earned it and I will do the same when I finish my marathon! I want everyone to know what I am doing for myself! If anyone wants to join me in my dorkiness, the website is www.goneforaRUN.com they have all kinds of souvenir running stuff (got it out of the back of Runners World)

Hooray! The Hippie Chick Half I did the same day as your Half Marathon had cute copper heart-shaped charms with the name of the race stamped on them as a finisher's medal, and my mom also got me a little circle one with 13.1 on it - I've been wearing them on a necklace non-stop since the race!

Be proud of your success - you absolutely earned it! :D

    What a great site!!!!

When ever I have a friend who doesn't give themselves FULL credit for a run I ask them this "How far did the guy sitting on his couch run"?

FLAUNT THEM MILES!!!
