Days 3-6 Ultimate Reset

Monday, January 07, 2013

It is going well I am down 11.2 lbs. I do have times where I get a bit frustrated about all of the prep and cooking and trying to stick to a schedule but it has been a really good thing I feel like my eating is in control for the first time in a long time. I am consistently walking throughout the reset my goal is 15000 steps a couple days I only got in 10000 but I don't feel bad about that at all. Today I am on track for 15000. Tonight should be a little bit of fun and frustration, there are a lot of things to prep and I also need to prep my lunch for work tomorrow as well. I have had a lot of school work the past couple days which have added some stress but it seems like I am able to deal with it effectively and not with food.

Day 2 Ultimate Reset

Thursday, January 03, 2013

After a much better and fullfilling night of sleep 7 hours which for me is doing quite well. I woke up took my supplements and weighed in (I'm weighing daily throughout just to make sure I'm not going down too quickly in weight). 4.5 lbs down the previous days weigh in was a bit inflated from overindulgence on New Years Day so this was about what I expected to see on the scale since I know how much fluff my body will hold if I'm indulgent. Today the food was wonderful once again, Breakfast was Oatmeal with fruit and nuts (old school cook your own not instant). Lunch was a microgreen salad again which I fancied up. Today it was supposed to be Greek salad with Chicken but since we already don't eat meat very often I didn't buy chicken just for the salad. I added toasted pumpkin seeds and a bit of edamame for the protein. Tonight is a mexican night of sorts guacamole is on the menu although not as much as I would like to eat (love guac). Salsa, corn tortilla, and black beans and brown rice. Overall I am super excited for this meal and all of them really. My energy has been good so far, I have been getting full, and I am really liking the reset. Getting 15000 steps in each day and drinking lots of water.

It sounds as if you are doing well and 4.5 is a great number.

Have you tried a fruit salad for breakfast: I have tried this and it is quite filling, Grapefruit
Banana and grapes or a pear, all fresh.

Finish off with a grain, I have one slice of wholegrain toast. You don't want it every day but it is a change.

Your lunch sounds lush - I love edamame beans but never think to buy them; thanks for the inspiration!

Day 1 Ultimate Reset

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

Today I started the Beachbody Ultimate Reset. The idea behind the program is that we are weighted down by toxins in our foods and environments. I am using it as a way for myself to detox from foods that are high in the craving value low in weight loss benefits. The program is 21 days and what I love about all Beachbody programs is that they are straight forward dummy proof and this one really hits that mark. Each day your food is listed what you eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is no thinking in the meal plan other than the logisitics of cooking and prepping all of it. But it is only 21 days and if it can bring lasting nutrition changes to my already decent nutrition then I'm in it for all 21 days no matter how convenient it is. There are supplements you take and you time them out in specific intervals. So day one here is what I did (and since I haven't done dinner yet soon to do)
0330 woke up took supplements (oxygenize, mineralize, and optimize- these are throughout what you take pre meal)
0400 since you have to wait 30 minutes before eating, I had breakfast which consisted of steamed kale, 2 scrambled eggs, and 2 slices whole grain toast. Yum and filling
1130 took round 2 of above supplements
1200 ate lunch a microgreen salad with toasted pumpkin seeds and creamy garlic dressing
The rest will be as planned
1530 akalinize (another supplement aimed to get you pH balanced)
1600 1/2 cup Quinoa
1800 supplements (the main 3)
1830 dinner baked salmon, steamed asparagus, and boiled potatoes.
I had a little bit of a headache most likely due to the time between breakfast and lunch although initially headaches are reported as common and considering you are eliminating a lot of stuff from your body this makes sense. I have been drinking lots of water, which is one thing I also want to improve. I had some food cravings around lunch when everyone was cooking very rich smelling foods that did make it rough and I had to remind myself why I am doing this. I have heard this part gets worse before it gets better. I am keeping a journal of everything that I am experiencing and I am also doing short videos on how I am feeling as well. I am doing these slightly for the science but also for the sake of sanity. This will not be an easy 21 days but I am determined to succeed at this.

The Little Things

Sunday, December 30, 2012

I had the flu the last couple days but I am proud to say that both days I managed 10,000 steps. Even though I felt under the weather I think that moderate movement does help the body heal. I went slower on my treadmill only 3.0-3.5 mph and the thing is it did feel good to move. I am thankful I have a treadmill at home it really helped me. I also made it through the holidays with no net gain or loss! emoticon While I would have loved to lose through the holidays I am glad I got to enjoy food and family. I just did a few extra minutes here and there on the treadmill! I did not eat as well as I would have liked but I didn't sit around feeling guilty either! emoticon So when I hopped on the scale and it showed a friendly number and my pants don't feel tight and my soul feels good I think wow all this little stuff works walking 15000 steps instead of 10000 and if I only get 10000 that is okay with me that is still 5 miles or more!
I am excited for the 2nd of January I am going to do the BeachBody Ultimate Reset I love the idea of starting the new year with at clean and healthy body inside and out. The food for the plan is also very appealing which I think makes it so much easier to want to do it. My fiance is also super supportive of my undertaking. I am hoping to see weight loss of course, but I am really looking to improve my nutrition and reset my body to cut down on cravings for certain vices of mine. I feel set and ready to take on the new year and continue to make every little stride I can that is progress and meet the bumps in the road head on and see those bumps as opportunity.

Bad luck having flu over the holiday but it seemed to help you.

Just a thought, try splitting the 15000 up into useable lumps of say 2 to 3 miles. I find that it makes a difference rather that try 5 to 6 miles in one go.

Happy New Year
