One more year under my belt!

Monday, November 16, 2009

I had a wonderful day yesterday celebrating my birthday with my kids and hubby. I got a lovely long phone call from Kaeli, Quin called me to say Happy Birthday and that he would be joining us at dinner time. Garry and Shy were home to give me wishes first thing in the morning. Although I had said I would be happy to have them cook me dinner to celebrate, they decided that taking me out for dinner was a better option. We headed to Boston Pizza for our meal, where I had the Baja Salad and then Shy and I shared a dessert.
I had emails and phone calls from friends that made my day. So blessed.

My positives:

My family...how blessed I truly am.
God's strength and support through the past year and the knowledge that He is only a chat away.
My backsplash tiles did not show up yet, but then that allowed us to have a nice free weekend from any renos!
My exercises are all done. I will try to get some walking in again on my breaks at work.
I remembered to write down the measurements for the size of box I need to parcel up Garry's parents Christmas parcels so we can get them sent. (They didn't fit into the box I brough home...missed by 1 inch!_
A new year that lies before me to set some goals and work towards them.

Thank you for stopping by, hope you are enjoying your day and looking for your blessings. Don't forget that even a smile is a blessing.

emoticon emoticon and a belated birthday wish. Our SIL's is Nov. 15, and every year he's out in the woods trying to get a deer, he didn't get one this opening day but has the rest of the week off so still has time. Our new SIL's is Tuesday, also my sis. It sounds like you had a very nice birthday and may you celebrate many more. Our American Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, we are going to our youngest DD's, this is a hard month for them as Nov. 25, it will be a year since Aaron's death, but they wanted to do Thanksgiving as they wanted family around them. Have a great week.

Belated Happy Birthday. Shows you where I'm at. You know that I just made sure that I knew the date! So I will take a minute to celebrate you right now. . .
Wanda, I am so happy that you were born and even happier that our paths have crossed. You have shown me how important attitude is for good health. I knew it, you reinforced it. And you continue to reinforce it by example everyday. Thank you for being you. And I am glad that you had a nice celebration on your birthday. Happy Birthday and many more.

Nov 14

Saturday, November 14, 2009

A lovely Saturday lies before me. I've pulled my list of chores that need to be accomplished today and am preparing to get some things crossed off that list. First and foremost is getting my online scrapbooks completed today so that I will have them in time for Christmas gifts.

Today is also my favorite day of the month...it's my monthly theraputic massage day and boy am I feeling the need for it. My muscles have been inflamed for the past few days and are really in need of some work. I am so blessed that I have a wonderful spirit filled massage lady to go to. She not only does theraputic massage, she does Reiki and cranal massage also. Some times she ends up doing all three on me during a session.

Prayers would appreciated for Kaeli as once again she is looking at no work in her field for the next few weeks as things have slowed down considerably. She has a line on a couple of other jobs to tide her over. Prayers would be appreciated for the right job for her and to start immediately. I'm thrilled to say that after several weeks of being back home, Quin finally has a job for the winter months. He was beginning to get very concerned about finding something to fill in the winter months before heading back up north for his May to October job.

I'm hopeful that my tile for the kitchen backsplash will arrive this weekend. We then should be able to being installing it next weekend. I'm looking so forward to getting the kitchen completely finished. Then it will be getting Christmas over with and on to the next project! Life is never dull at our house.

My positives:
Quin has a job that starts today.
Kaeli has made it through a few more weeks or work and although they have been told they will receive lay off notices in two weeks, the company has stated that they will keep on providing all their health benefits during the lay off. She has a line on a couple of jobs...praying that she gets the one that is right for her.
Massage today.
I will complete my online Christmas gift project today and be able to get it here for Christmas.
I have all my out of town gifts ready to wrap and get shipped this weekend.
Life...it is beautiful and it is what I choose to make it.

Have a wonderfully blessed Silly Saturday. Allow that inner child time to express it's self today. Enjoy the moment.

A massage sounds nice, something I've never tried. Will pray for Kaeli that she will be placed in the right job, praying that for our SIL also, he lost his job the first part of August, he did have an interview with a company here in MI and not to far from us if he went to work there and they moved there, but they have other interviews to do so it may be a little while before he hears anything. I sure wish the economy would get better for everyone. It sounds like you are getting closer to being finished with the redo, that'll be so nice. Have a great week.

    Dear, dear Wanda...
Thank you so very much for the kind words on my blogpost. I never dreamed I'd end up with FM on top of the cervical dystonia. The little bit I've read about it so far indicates that stress-reduction and meditation help and I'm listening to my iTunes music that offer just that.
I've also learned that exercise does help so my intention is to begin doing more of that. A big step for me considering I do none at this point.
I take Cymbalta for my CD and it helps and knowing that it's helping the FM makes me feel better about it. I feel I take so many meds, now, that I'm hoping to not have to increase those.
Thanks for the tip about the massage. I'll have to check into that!
Have a blessed Sunday, my friend. Prayers going up for Kaeli, of course. Faith that it will all work out.
Gentle hugs to you!

have a good massage (I've been enjoying the benefits of this from someone who is very gifted as well - she has just sold her practice though and is heading off to Australia to travel - so I'll need to find someone else - hers will be big shoes to fill) - also hoping jobs become abundant very very soon! (we need to be thankful for the jobs we do have - we just heard that we probably won't be going on strike ... management and union have come together-ish so that we can move forward without too much angst!)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Sounds like a wonderful massage lady, I always find that massage people who do alternative therapies like Reiki, or craniol have a better success rate with patients in helping us heal.

Hope you had a fantastic relaxing message and all your prayers are answered.

Thank you for you encouraging words to me as well.

Will definitely offer prayers that Kaeli will find the job that God has for her. We know that He will provide. We will ask on her behalf. Glad that Quinn has something.

I hope that the massage is both helpful and relaxing for you.

Have a great weekend. I know you will make it so.

Yay, it's Friday!

Friday, November 13, 2009

What a strange week with having Wednesday off. I can't decide if it's been great or if it's made the week seem longer! lol

Regardless, today is Fabulous Friday...a day to celebrate. Not that every day isn't a day to celebrate, just being alive is reason enough to celebrate.

I'm looking forward to hearing if our tile for the backsplash in the kitchen has arrived and getting that done. Then my kitchen is complete. We are loving having the eating counter in the kitchen. Already I think it's been used more by everyone than the old table and chairs ever were. It's such a great place to spread out the newspaper for a nice leisurely read as well as sit and visit around while you are eating your meal.

My co-worker that has been off sick came back to work yesterday. It's great to have him back and feeling well. Means I'm back to not having to go in quite so earlier. Even though I'm up and ready to go in at that time, it means I have time to meditate and just gather and center myself more in the morning.

My Positives:
It's Friday! lol
Geff is back and feeling better.
No one else from our department has come down with the flu.
I have time this weekend to get the out of town parcels ready for shipping.
I'm blessed in so many ways.
Knowing that I am not alone, that I have support, encouragement and comfort in all that I do.

Have a wonderful day, keep on moving forward.

Glad it's Friday too - we'll see how it goes being the 13th and all! Glad you are enjoying your new kitchen area so much now that it's been designed to be so inviting for everyone. Amazing how design can create people-friendly places!

I'm glad to hear that your co-worker is back and well again. It obviously put extra responsibilities on you. I'm sure he and your boss appreciate your willingness to help out for the good of everyone! It's good that no one else is sick.

I work in a college and I fear for an outbreak here. My staff has direct interaction with the students and it could so easily and quickly pass through the department. We're all getting shots and trying to take care of ourselves to prevent it as best we can.

I'm glad that your "new" kitchen has brought such joy to you and your family. It is beautiful and functional and bringing you even closer together. How wonderful!

Have a great day and great weekend.

Feels strange to be going back to work today after having yesterday off. Remembrance Day falling on a Wednesday meant a middle of the week "no work day". Felt like it was Saturday.
The idea of working two days, having a day off and then working two more days and having a weekend sounds rather appealing! How can I work this into my schedule! lol

I didn't do much of what I had planned to do with a day off work yesterday, but I'm okay with that...I did the important stuff and that was Remembering those who served and those who are still serving.

My positives:
a mid week day to be at home.
relaxation time
good books to read
most of my out of town Christmas parcels are ready to be wrapped and shipped (yay, ahead of schedule on this one!)
my blessed life.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll catch up with you all later today, Have a wonderfully blessed day,

always nice to be able to take pause - especially in the midst of all that goes on around us ... and I like it because it's food for thought (not body - for a change) heheh!

Glad you had a good day off, Wanda. Always a nice gift, huh!

For some reason this year it seemed here that there were many more acknowledgements of Veterans Day (and not just the silly sales in the stores). It's reassuring to see so many fellow Americans remembering and giving much-deserved thanks for the sacrifices and service of our military and their families.

Raining buckets here in Oregon, but that's what we're known for!

Make it a fabulous day, dear Wanda!

We had several remembrance services here in our area, but no one (except the banks and the post office) had the day off... It's nice that you did. Glad you were able to enjoy it and remember.

Lest we Forget

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

A day to Remember those who served, who still serve and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we might enjoy the life we enjoy today.

I am so grateful to all those are called to serve.

My positives:
Remembrance Day
My freedom
My blessings.

May God watch over all of those who so willingly serve their country. May He bring peace and calm to those families whose loved ones have been called home.
May we all recognize that only through "being the change of peace" will we be able to create the "change of peace" we so desire in this world.
