Fabulous Friday at last!

Friday, November 06, 2009

This has been a very busy and long week at work. I am so looking forward to today's end of work day!
It's Fabulous Friday today, my favorite day of the week, come and join me in celebrating the day. lol

I was so tired last night that I was in bed by 8:30 and probably asleep moments after my head hit the pillow. Yay, tomorrow I don't have to get up at 5 am. Not that it makes much difference, I'm so used to getting up at that time, that I automatically wake up then....oh well, I don't have to get up and I can roll over and attempt to go back to sleep.

My Positives:

I have a shortened day today, I leave just after noon. It was supposed to be my day off, and I have an appointment to attend at 1:20, so I will be able to leave a couple of hours earlier than I would usually. (the perks of going to work for 6 am, means I get to leave mid afternoon)
No snow! so driving will be a breeze.
It's Fabulous Friday.
Crossing things off my calendar is a huge plus right now in my life.
Friends and family.

Thanks for stopping by, I pop in later today to see what you have all been up to and do some visiting. Have a wonderfully blessed day,

I had to get up early too this morning to open the door for someone who needs to come in and clear the pipes out for winter at my friends house! I am looking forward to stepping foot inside tonight too - my brother Gary is coming for a visit and we're planning a nice meal together! Hope your day goes according to plan and that as you lay your head down on the pillow there's a great big smile on your face!

Thursday Nov 5

It is supposed to be a balmy +14 today, very unusal weather for this time of year, I love it!

Last night, Garry and I, went to see his brother at the grand opening of one of the new stores (Save on Foods) that his brother was overseeing. Garry's brother is the Western Canada manager for produce for Save on Foods. It means lots of traveling for him and a very busy life style. The new store has been built here in Sherwood Park and is so much more convenient for me to go shopping at...YAY! Brian lives in Red Deer, so was a nice opportunity to go and see him for a brief visit. He is hoping to head home again on Saturday.
As we were leaving the store with our purchases last night, we got handed another bag of goodies. Got home to discover not only did I obtain another great reuseable shopping bag, but interesting samples of groceries in it too! How blessed.

On Saturday, I'm hoping to get a chance to see a friend's daughter and her kids that will be in town. It depends on her time schedule, so she will phone if she has time. So many interesting things happening.

Yesterday when I got to work, I discovered that my fellow early morning co-worker was not there. Geff phoned me about 5 minutes after I arrived to let me know he is sick! From the sounds of it, he may very well be dealing with H1N1. So for the next couple of weeks at least, I will be heading into work earlier than usual. My day off on Friday has had to be cancelled, but at least I'll still get off early as I have a 1pm appointment. I think over the next few weeks, many of us will be learning to just roll with the punches.

My positives:
Still no snow!
Seeing Garry's brother and getting a lovely bag full of freebies.
Being flexible.
My health.
Working hard at staying on track.
Life...it's just full of blessings, especially when we make the effort to look for them.

Have a wonderful day, many hugs.

DD keeps saying that I have H1N1. I tell her, I have a cold. But a persistant one at that. Glad that you are healthy and able to keep flexible. I'm working toward it. I am going to learn my celsius to farenheit function. So I can get a sense of what it is that you call "balmy". Have a great day.

The 'still no snow' is worth its weight in GOLD! as a positive right now - isn't it. We are going to get your 14C this weekend and am I ever looking forward to it so I can do my container garden clean up on the roof patio!

Hope your weekend is relaxing - sounds like you'll need some now that you have some new responsibilities to take care of at work! Good Luck with them1

Nice post, Wanda, though I'm sorry about your coworker being ill. The H1N1 is certainly beginning to take its toll around our countries. I'm blessed to be able to work from home!

Isn't it grand getting free reusable shopping bags and especially with goodies inside? My only challenge is remembering to take the bags in the grocery store with me...I usually forget and leave them in the car. :)

We're supposed to get rain here in Oregon today, though since that's what we're known for and it IS that time of year, I certainly don't mind. Keeps everything green!

Have a blessed day and stay well!

Lots of positives. We must adjust to the changes and adapt if we are going to keep our sanity - and, of course, focus on the positive!

Calendar is working.

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

This week's challenge was to create a calendar of daily goals for the month of November. I am glad that I have done mine. Crossing off each day as I accomplish the goals that are set on it is so satisfying. The bonus of all this....I'm getting things done!

We are having unusually warm temperatures for this time of year...not complaining mind you, just stating a fact. The longer the temps stay like this, the less is costs for heating costs and gas for the vehicle (I don't have to warm the vehicle up as long to thaw out the windows etc.)

My positives:
God is continuing to supply Kaeli with weekly work, Yay! Being that winter has set in things has slowed down somewhat where she works, but I'm continuing to believe that God will supply all her needs.
Although my vehicle is not fixed yet, it is in line at the repair shop! Meanwhile, I have Garry's car to drive and he is using a vehicle from work.
We are all healthy in this household, plan on staying that way despite all the H1N1 that is hitting our town and across Canada.
Found some beautiful pomegranites at Costco on the weekend. They are large and the fruit is so sweet and fresh. I've managed to get three of them peeled and have been having a lovely treat during the day at work. Cutting them and peeling them in a bowl of water sure makes the chore of getting the seeds out easier. The fruit sinks to the bottom and the membrane and outer shell floats to the top!
Mass indexing went great yesterday...YAY!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit, I'll be checking in again after work to see what everyone else has been up to. I'm off to check out Mauri's Wednesday challenge.

Have a wonderfully blessed day,

You actually MADE a calendar - DUH - now why didn't I think of that - nevermind ... I will do it - thanks for stating the 'almost obvious to me' ... heheh! Also - the pomegranite tip is amazing ... they are so good but a real luxury food time-wise. I think one of the last memories i have of eating one is with a girlfriend - we were quite young and we tried to eat the seeds by pulling them out with pins (which didn't really work) ... I mean we were really young - laying in the grass and not allowed to eat them in house because our mothers wouldn't let us - that young! I might just try this new method you've described now too!

Hopefully we're in for a warmer winter this year - I think it's el nina's turn (el nino's the meanie)!

So glad that the calendar is working for you! I love to check things off the list!

I don't believe I've ever tried a pomegranite before but I've seen them in the store. I'll have to get one just to try it. It would be something else new that I've tried on this journey.

Glad that the indexing went well! And that you and your family are staying well!

Have a great day!

Doing this....

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Doing my blogs first thing in the morning the past few days has made things easier for me. It still feels strange to do them in the morning, but I'm finding them easier to do. After coming home from a day spent working on the computer, it has been a struggle to spend even more time once I'm home. Now when I do log on from home, it doesn't feel like an obligation! Amazing how much pressure we put on ourselves and how just making a small adjustment relieves that pressure.

Hmmmm....small adjustments, food for thought!

I need to go in early this morning as my co-worker who usually comes in to do computer stuff early will be delayed this morning. We need to do a mass indexer of our system this morning, so I get to do it ....yay....NOT! Another thing that I am learning how to do...mass indexing...scary, when you know it is the entire system you are playing with at work! YIKES....I'm just going to have to trust that all my instructions are good.

My positives:

Another "warm" day today, temps are still on the plus side.
Our furnance was not expensive to fix and we have heat again.
Hopefully, my vehicle can be fixed quickly also. The heated seats are not working....and in our winters that is not something that I want to be broken. It is still on warranty for another month, so want to get it done.
My family who encourages me to keep on going on those days that I am frustrated.
Sparkpeople for the blessing of information, friends and support.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit, keep on moving forward. Have you got your calendar done yet????

Wanda, I'm so glad those days of mass computing anything are over for me! The advantage of working in a small organization! :)

I'm working on my calendar...Started it at lunch today but after my counseling session and listening to Louise Hays on my way home, I've got a whole new approach!

Glad your home has heat again, now to get your car seats working again, thank goodness it's still under warranty. Good luck with the indexing, I am sure it will go fine, but can understand being a little nervous. I need to do the calendar yet, will try and get it done today,if I don't before you know it Nov. will be gone. Good job of blogging.

Glad the furnace was easily fixed. Definitely thankful for warranties also! It's rare that something actually breaks while it's still covered - at least in my experience! lol.

Have a great day and good luck with the indexing. Just think, if you don't have good instructions (and/or something goes wrong), you'll be able to improve them based on first-hand experience for the next time you or someone else has to do it. Not that I want something to go wrong, but that's when we really learn. (yes, my background and degree are in computers, so I'm a geek like that.)

BTW - if something goes massively wrong, there are back-ups of the system. That's why your IT department does it at least nightly. They plan for this stuff too (or at least they should!!).

I'm confident all will go well and you'll have a great day. You always seem to make the best of it. Take your goals one day at a time!

Wanda I hope your day goes really well ... glad to hear the furnace was a small deal (not a big one)! Heated seats (I got a little number from Canadian Tire that I plug into my lighter) and it works ... sounds like yours will be covered under warranty though - yeah) ... again have a great day!

It's Chilly this morning!

Monday, November 02, 2009

It's chilly in our house this morning. Sometime around 11:30pm last night the thermal coupler on the furnace died. It's sitting at about 12 degrees in the house this morning. Despite the coolness, it has given me pause this morning to be grateful that I have a warm bed and a roof over my head. There are many that don't. I am grateful for all the God provides in our lives.

A new month, another new attempt to get back on track. Not sure why I'm having such a difficult time. I'm holding my own, but I'm spinning my wheels. I need to figure out what it is that I need to learn at this point in my life before I can once again move forward.

I have a short week at work this week, I have Friday off from work...not that I have not got a full day planned for that day though! I've got my calendar all filled out as per our weekly challenge and I'm hoping that by focusing on each day, I'll be able to refocus my healthy lifestyle.

My positives:

A roof over our heads, and a warm bed.
Hot water this morning, so although the room was chilly, the water was warm.
Knowing that we can afford to get the furnance fixed....I'm trusting God on this one!
A short work week...time to get some Christmas gifts complete.
Friends and family who support me.
God who blesses me.

Have a wonderful day, keep on moving forward.

I'm getting a little déjà vu ... last year my furnace went out one evening while my parents were visiting and I had to plug in spot heaters to make sure they wouldn't freeze before morning! We are certainly prey to the elements once Fall sets in. Hope you can get it all taken care of and get back to normal ...

I added drinking juices to my regime today (I'm trying to make sure I get all my veggies & fruits in) ... I keep forgetting to take my vanilla-flavoured fish oil though (woops ;o)

You've made so much progress already! I can't wait to get where you are. You are an inspiration to me.

Sitting in one spot (on the scale) is frustrating, though. Maybe the one goal per day this month will help you. I've learned that I have to keep doing things a little more and a little different to keep the scale moving. Walking twice a day got me started and gave me confidence, but I've had to add more exercise to keep losing. Drat!!

Hang in there and keep working at it. We're rooting you on to your final goal. And good luck with getting that furnace fixed too!

Have a great week!
