Happy Halloween!

Saturday, October 31, 2009

Wow, the end of another month already!

We did have a great time yesterday at work...really we do work!

Our department dressed up like one of our co-workers....Jody. Jody is our IT tech and has a great sense of humour. Because he is so predictable, always wears plaid shirts and jeans, usually has headphones on his head and is never seen without his famous clipboard and crossword puzzles, we decided to clone ourselves and become "Jodys" for the day.

We all arrive for work before Jody, so the timing was perfect. When Jody arrived for work in his usual attire and announced as he does every morning "Morning Everybody", we all stood up and announced right back "Morning Everybody". The look on his face was priceless, it took about 10 seconds for him to clue in and burst out laughing.
Such a fun time.

From left to right:
Louise, Gail, Andrea, Geff, Wanda, Cindy, Dawnelle and Jody in the center.

I am so blessed to work in a place where the staff gets along and where laughter is part of the day.

My positives:

It's Silly Saturday and what better day for Halloween! I get to enjoy all the little ones as they come to the door trick or treating.
A fabulous Friday was enjoyed.
Nothing major planned this weekend...so maybe those stacks of books I have on loan from the library might get read! At least one or two of them!
Friends and family.
God who so blesses my life.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Enjoy the day, be safe.

Fabulous Friday October 30

Friday, October 30, 2009

This should be a great day at work.

It's our staff potluck in celebration of Halloween, so costumes are the rule for the day. I love seeing the creativity of those around me.
Today, our department is dressing up as one of our co-workers. Our techie person is so predictable and has a great sense of humour so this should be fun. I've got my lovely "plaid" shirt and blue jeans on. My clipboard with my crossword puzzle is waiting for me at work, as well as my headphones.

My positives:
My camera is charged and ready to go.
Fun is in the air.
No major dump of snow and it's supposed to get up to +12 tomorrow!
Meeting yesterday afternoon ended early than we had expected.
It's the weekend (almost)
Life....it's just plain what you make it.

Have a wonderfully blessed day, thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sounds like a day filled with fun. We had a free breakfast this morning for the residents and some did dress up, I think everyone had plenty to eat and enjoyed themselves. Will be waiting to here how your techie responded and what was he dressed as.

Okay....so it's not quite finished but....

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Alright...the kitchen is not quite finished, but thought I'd share some pictures anyway.

We still have the backsplash to be installed, but that won't be until mid November as the tile we chose has to be ordered. (Figures! lol)

Here is the new location of the "old" cabinets. Garry and Quin had fun installing them in Garry's new "play" room.

It's still a work in progress as unfortunately the "inside" of the house has required attention and Garry's "play" room has been on hold. He is thrilled though to finally have a place to put all his things away in and to have a great work space.

Now for the the reveal:

I love my new corner cupboard...when you pull open the door the cupboard follows. No more getting down on my hands and knees and trying to find things in the back of the cupboard!

My recycle center fits beautifully under my kitchen sink...I love it, no longer do I have all this sitting outside my cupboards!

Not sure how well these knobs show up, but they are actually perfect for the cupboards.

And now for the new counter height chairs. They are so comfortable. We do so much of our living in the kitchen, these will be nice for those extended times of playing cards or board games.

When we get the backsplash in, I'll see if I can get some good pictures of it also and then post.
Hope you enjoyed the view of my new kitchen. I'm thrilled with it and so excited about having such a wonderful space to work in.

Need to run now, work is calling. Have a wonderful day, see you all later.

Hugs,
Wanda

Delivery day!

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

I'm excited today as it's DELIVERY day at our house. We purchased 4 counter height chairs for the new island in the kitchen and they are supposed to be delivered today. YAY, we'll have chairs now to sit on! We've been just standing around the counter enjoying it, now we can actually eat at the counter.
It's the simply things in life that give me pleasure. LOL

My exercises are all done for the day, starting my morning off with a burst of energy. Now anything else that I do through out the day is a bonus! By the looks of the weather out there this morning...that could very well involve doing some shoveling of snow when I get home!

My positives:

I've got another day of morning exercises under my belt. I like doing my exercises first thing in the morning...my energy level seems to be much higher through out the day. It's also like a monkey off my back...I don't have it hanging over my head all day.

New chairs are to be delivered.

Wednesday daily challenge is done...thanks Mauri for the trip down memory lane.

We will order our backsplash tile today...hopefully they will have it all in stock or at the very least it won't be long for it to arrive.

Chatted with Kaeli last evening. God has been so good, He has been providing hours of work for her. She was only anticipating a couple of days out in the field this week, and has ended up with a full week's worth of work in the office! Yay...another blessing.

God in our lives...teaching us that we have only to lean on Him for all our needs.

Have a wonderful day, keep on smiling and moving forward. One step at a time will get you to where you want to be.

Hugs,
Wanda

yes - chairs to sit on - little things in life ... just know you'll enjoy relaxing on them this evening as you take in all the grandeur of your new kitchen (possibly after shoveling snow - I'm sending some warmth your way right now so that doesn't have to happen just yet)!

    Wanda,

You're already having an awesome day! And you're having visitors tonight to see the new kitchen. I suspect they'll be friends by the end of the visit, just based on what I know of you!

Have a great rest of the day.

October 27

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Talking Tuesday was a day filled with laughs and lots of humor at work. It was also a very busy day and I'm now tired and looking forward to an early night.

I just received a call from a gentleman, who wanted to know if we would be willing to show them out kitchen. They are thinking of going with Kitchen Essentials to have theirs done and are checking out some that are already done by this company. We said they could most certainly come over to see it. I explained that our back splash is not complete yet and the pedastal for under the table is not complete, but they we welcome to come and see what is complete. They are coming tomorrow evening around 8 pm.

My positives:

Lots of laughs at work.
No snow...we did get some rain...but no snow yet!
I'm eating healthy and exercising and thinking positive thoughts about the flu pandemic. We have some staff already off sick.
Free H1N1 flu shots for everyone...I hope to go and get mine tomorrow.
Life...it's just plain and simply wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit...I'm off to check out everyone else's posts and blogs now.

Have an awesome evening.

Hugs,
Wanda

I know what you mean about that exercise thing. I get up and have mine done by 7:30. It seems if I don't do it first thing it doesn't get done and it seems to set the pace for my day.

Yippee on the completion of the kitchen. Did you get the bar stools you thought were a little expensive? My new philosophy I would rather wait and get what I really want than buy something I'm less than satisfied. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of your new kitchen.

Whoops posted this on the wrong day. LOL Oh well. This was supposed to be on Oct 28. Glad Kaeli is getting to work a full week.

Wanda, you be careful. Tel's out with H1N1 as well...and my state down here in the US has not received any vaccine for it since we don't have an "epidemic" by the CDC standard. They are shipping does to the areas with larger outbreaks. I'm wearing my skin out with washing my hands...

Blessings & hugs...

One of my student workers is out because her young daughter has H1N1. I told her not to come back to work until the daughter was well!!

There were many people in the hospital that they were trying to "rule out." Medical workers must take full isolation procedures until the CDC reports back after 5 days if the test was positive or not. It's the first time Teri has ever been told to NOT go out and walk in the halls. I'll probably get the shot as soon as it's available here again.

Have a great day!

Glad you had such a fun day at work!

We've all got to keep thinking positive about H1N1 ... woke up this morning to the news that a young boy here in Toronto just died of it yesterday - seems it's hitting children especially hard. I am allergic to the flu shots - so far I haven't been allergic to anything else - but I got hives when I got my first flu shot a few years back! I am tanking up on healthy foods, vitamins, naturopathic meds, etc. and trying to keep up with hand washing and wiping down surfaces at work, etc. Sneezing into my elbow ... I'm almost getting the hang of that now too :o|

PS - I know - I only saw the fish oil was 'vanilla-flavoured' after I got it home! Cute young whipper-snapper pitched a good sale.
