Yay...it's Fabulous Friday!

Friday, October 23, 2009

I love Fridays...it's a celebration of the end of a busy work week and the beginning of a lovely weekend. It's a day to celebrate how fabulous we each are as individuals.

I had an exciting moment at work today. As I was ordering materials, I noticed that the selector had marked to order a copy of the new SPARK book to be published in January 2010. What...only one copy! Went to see the selector and had a chat with her about Sparkpeople and how I felt that this book would need to be ordered at the very least a couple more copies....yay she agreed and in fact order one copy for our Best Sellers Express location and three copies for regular circulation. I just know that I will be ordering more in the next while...but was excited to have her order 4 copies anyway. When I approve a title for ordering, that means that our patrons are able to place holds against the title.....I checked before leaving home and already there is a hold against the title....woo hoo! People are hearing about Sparkpeople. I have ordered my own personal copy through Chapters, so wasn't me that placed the hold! lol

My positives:

It's Friday!
I am blessed with health and the ability to make good choices for myself.
The weather prediction for snow for the weekend has been changed to NO SNOW!
My kitchen is 99% done. Only the backsplash needs to be completed, the pedastal under the eating island and the one door put back on. I love my new kitchen....I promise to take some pictures real soon.

My biggest positive and blessing is God in my life who walks with me each day.

Have an awesome weekend.
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, woohoo on ordering more books! I can't wait to receive it! Since I bought it I used the gift ctf to buy a SP mug...and a tee shirt that says my life is an adventure...and it is! :)

Double woohoo on 99% of the kitchen being done!! Can't wait to see it...have you selected new tile for backspash yet??

Triple woohoo on no snow! Yuck! Yesterday the heavens opened and poured its refreshing water on us here in RI, but today it is sunny...and I can't wait to head out to the Warren Walkabout!

Blessings and hugs...and thanks!

Thought provoking....

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Thank you Shirl for sending this to me. I thought it was so well done that it was worth sharing on a larger scale.

Used vs. Loved

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up a
stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.

In anger, the man took the child's hand and hit it many times; not
realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.

When the child saw his father.....with painful eyes he asked, 'Dad, when will my fingers grow back?'

The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked
it a lot of times. Devastated by his own actions.......sitting in front of
that car he looked at the scratches; the child had written 'LOVE YOU DAD'.

The next day that man committed suicide......

Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely
life..... Things are to be used and people are to be loved, but
the problem in today's world is that people are used and things are
loved.

During the day, be careful to keep this thought in mind: Things are to be used, but People are to be loved ... Be yourself....This is the only day we HAVE.

Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watchyour words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

I'm glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder..
If you don't pass this on to anybody, nothing
bad will happen; if you do, you will have ministered to someone.

Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL

What a powerful message, I hope you all appreciate it as much as I do.

My positives:

My kitchen is almost done! WOO HOO. Pictures soon, I promise.
I have a job I enjoy doing, even though at times it is stressful.
My family is safe....how often we take that fact as a given. Today in Edmonton, some family members are not so safe...there is a hostage situation at the WCB building in Edmonton. A disgruntled former claimient walked in to the building this morning at about 8:30 am with a rifle and has been holding people hostage. The last news report at 3pm today, said that all but two hostages have been released by the gun man. Very scary situation. My prayers go out to all in involved including the gunman...how incredibly despondent and stressed he must be to have reached this point.
Friends who send me such wonderful heart warming emails. Thank you to all of you.

Have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Wanda

Thankful that the situation with the gunman ended without anyone getting physically hurt, but it's questionably about their mental state, that could certainly be a life changing experience. I am glad you shared the e-mail with others. It sounds like things will all be done and put back together before the holidays, looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Much refreshed today!

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Ahhhh, a much better night's sleep last night left me feeling like I had some energy today!

Spoke with our kitchen people today and they hope to be here tomorrow to almost complete the kitchen. The only thing that might not get finished is the eating island, but we are getting there. Garry and I then have the wonderful job of learning how to tile! This should be fun, we have not done any tiling before and decided that we'd like to tackle the back splash ourselves as it will save us a nice bit of change. We had some tile chosen, but Garry is not so sure he likes it now, so back to hunting we go.

My goal this week is to get all the floors washed. There has been no sense doing them while tradespeople are tracking back and forth. By the weekend, they should be done and I can once again have clean floors. YAY!

My positives:

A wonderfully supportive team.
An almost completed kitchen.
Hot water...even if we still don't know why it keeps going out...but at least we have hot water.
A good night's sleep last night.
I've almost completed the online scrapbooking project that I'm doing for Christmas. I need to get it done in the next few days in order to take advantage of a special they are offering.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and for all your encouragement.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sounds like a good day! Then again, in my opinion, everything is better when you have a good night's sleep. The kitchen is almost done. WooHoo! We tiled the kitchen floor several years ago. Never done it before, but it turned out well and we were proud. We still like to tell the story.

Have a great evening.

A brief blog

Monday, October 19, 2009

Just a brief blog tonight. I'm so tired, I'm having trouble staying awake. Didn't have a good sleep last night for some reason and having to be up for work at 5am has left me super tired tonight. So I'm off to bed very early!

Woke up this morning to once again having no hot water. Our water heater is less than 3 years old and we've been having nothing but problems with it. The thermo coupler was changed about 2 weeks ago, but again this morning it was out and Garry wasn't able to get it re-lit. Phoned our plumber friend to come and look at it. It's re-lit now, but Dave is going to come back later this week and see if he can't figure out what is going on.

My positives:

Busy day at work, so was able to focus on work as opposed to feeling so sleepy!
Just plain and simple a wonderful day...I've been blessed with another day of life, you just can't get better than that!

I will bid you all a good night, see you tomorrow.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wow! I sure hope you get things worked out with the water heater. I have been thinking about getting one of those tankless water heaters. I don't know if they would be less trouble or not.
You know I am the queen of "the art of sleeping"! I changed my sleep schedule around for a whole week during vacation week before last and it took me an entire week to turn it back around again! Sweet dreams Wanda! emoticon

Reconnecting...

Sunday, October 18, 2009

We had a wonderful time last night. We reconnected with neighbors we used to have when we lived in Lloydminster. We had not seen or actually spoken to Reg and Anne since 1984. Through the wonders of tecnology, I actually located them via facebook. Turns out that they live about 45 minutes away from us. They head south every winter, so the timing was great, we were able to get together last night before they leave at the end of this month.

We had a very enjoyable time getting reacquainted. Their eldest daughter used to babysit for us...at that time we only had Kaeli. Now their kids have kids the same age as our youngest. How time flies.

We have exchanged email addresses and will keep in touch over the winter and next April make arrangements to get together once again.

My massage yesterday, has left me a little sore...I had to have some deep tissue work done, and am really feeling it this morning. The nice part of having the deep tissue work done is that my left shoulder is once again at the same level as my right shoulder. It was almost an inch and a half lower when I went in...the muscles for some reason had tightened and as a result had shortened. Much better now.

My positives:

Reconnecting with old friends.
My shoulder is once again in it's proper location.
A crockpot of simmer stew is on....supper will be ready with very little effort.
A wonderful day ahead to relax in.
My family and friends.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Hugs,
Wanda
