Reconnecting...

Sunday, October 18, 2009

We had a wonderful time last night. We reconnected with neighbors we used to have when we lived in Lloydminster. We had not seen or actually spoken to Reg and Anne since 1984. Through the wonders of tecnology, I actually located them via facebook. Turns out that they live about 45 minutes away from us. They head south every winter, so the timing was great, we were able to get together last night before they leave at the end of this month.

We had a very enjoyable time getting reacquainted. Their eldest daughter used to babysit for us...at that time we only had Kaeli. Now their kids have kids the same age as our youngest. How time flies.

We have exchanged email addresses and will keep in touch over the winter and next April make arrangements to get together once again.

My massage yesterday, has left me a little sore...I had to have some deep tissue work done, and am really feeling it this morning. The nice part of having the deep tissue work done is that my left shoulder is once again at the same level as my right shoulder. It was almost an inch and a half lower when I went in...the muscles for some reason had tightened and as a result had shortened. Much better now.

My positives:

Reconnecting with old friends.
My shoulder is once again in it's proper location.
A crockpot of simmer stew is on....supper will be ready with very little effort.
A wonderful day ahead to relax in.
My family and friends.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Hugs,
Wanda

How wonderful to reconnect with people you haven't seen in that long! I love FB because it helps me stay in touch with family so much more...especially since we are spread around the world!

Blessings and hugs.

It's now Fabulous Friday evening

Friday, October 16, 2009

Where did the day go....started out as usual at 5 am and now it's almost 8pm.
Busy day at work, not only my own desk of work, but it is our annual major fundraiser happening tonight so lots of extra activity going on at work.

Q got my new kitchen ceiling lights installed for me. They look great! We still have to purchase one for over the island, but are waiting until it's complete before seeing what will look good.

My positives:

Warmer temps today...the snow is pretty much all gone, although we will be getting some freezing rain Sunday morning.

Manage to spend some time organizing a few things in the kitchen after work and this evening. I don't have all my shelves or drawers so some things have to wait. But I'm seeing the potential and it's great.

It's the weekend and I have my monthly massage to look forward to tomorrow morning. YAY!

So much to be thankful for. Thank you for the blessings.

Thanks for stopping by, I'm off to finish some work in the kitchen.

Hugs,
Wanda

Enjoy that massage. (no tone in the writing to give away the fierce jealousy behind the words) Hey, if I want a massage, what's stopping me from getting one? I have the money! I'm going to put a massage as one of my rewards for goals met. That's a good one. Enjoy your day (I'm sure you will when all your stress has been massaged away.) Hope to catch up with you soon.
Love,
Nancy

You've certainly earned that massage!!! I can't wait for photos of the completed kitchen! Since I only rent, I'm living vicariously through your "re-NEW-vations!"

Hugs and blessings.

Another great day!

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Still frosty when I left for work, the streets were very icy and seemed to only get worse as the traffic picked up and packed it down. It had rained last evening and then froze, so not nice.
By afternoon, the temps were on their way up and all the snow and ice was melting. We are supposed to experience +14 this weekend. It would be nice if all the water was evaporated, so that when the cold comes again, we won't be slipping and sliding.

My dishwasher is hooked up, but I'll have to wait until I get a load of dishes before running it. I'm excited about using it...it's a new one and I've been promised that it is very quiet! Our old one was very loud!

My positives:

Yay...I have a dishwasher again! Oh, the things that excite me! lol
Lovely warmer temps today...no sun, but at least there was no snow.
Stayed within my calorie range easily.
Laughter at work, I'm so blessed with my co-workers.
Things are picking up where Garry works...that eases his concern about the economy.
Fabulous Friday tomorrow....yay!
A massage to look forward to on Saturday, another big YAY! I love that I am able to go once a month for a treatment.
God, who constantly blessed our family.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have had a wonderful day also.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wednesday October 14

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

We have had almost every kind of weather you can imagine today. Freezing cold temps this morning with snow and wind, then this afternoon zero temps and rain! The roads are going to be deadly tonight.

Thank you for the prayers on Shy's behalf. So far she has heard nothing from the police and has tried a couple of times to reach the young girl to inquire about how she is doing and her calls just go to voice mail. She has left messages, but they must feel that it is not necessary to call her back. I'm thanking God that there was no serious injury and I'm just having to trust God that it will all work out. If she hasn't heard from the police tomorrow, I'm going to have her call them to make inquiries.

I now have a operating kitchen sink...yay! No more washing things up in the bathroom sink.
Not sure why I don't have any water pressure though. It takes a very long time to fill the sink with water. May have to have that checked into. In keeping with today's "miracles" challenge...I am grateful for the miracle of running water...and access to clean healthy water.
Thank you Mauri for posting a challenge that reminds us to look for the miracles in our daily lives.

My positives:
Running water, a sink in the kitchen that I can use. Looking forward to having my dishwasher up and running now.
A lovely new electrical plug in on my new island. Yay...more counter space that I can use for baking and cooking.
A warm home to protect myself and family from the weather.
Team mates who keep me encouraged with their comments, blogs and challenges. Thank you all of you. You don't know how much I appreciate all that you do.
Marla's great results from all her tests...yay Marla...that new kidney is on it's way.
A lovely comfy bed that I am going to go and crawl into in a few minutes. 5 am keeps coming around so quickly!

Thank you for your comments, they are always a highlight of my day. Have a wonderfully blessed evening.

Nancy...have another awesome day with those young people that you are imparting healthy knowledge to.

Hugs,
Wanda

Shirl...only 2 more days til the wedding!

Yawn!

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

So, I'm a little tired. After having a few days off and not having to get up at 5am, 5am rising this morning for work has left me a tad tired. It was good to get back to work though. Made a little head way on the stack of work left on my desk, but I'm sure it won't take long before I'm caught up.

Shyra's day started off very bad this morning. As she was pulling away from a stop sign on her way to work, a young girl darted out in front of her on her bike. Fortunately, Shy was only just beginning to roll forward and basically bumped the young girl off her bike. The witnesses said that Shy couldn't have avoided the situation as the young girl admitted to not looking or paying attention to the traffic. Unfortunately, the young girls father was a bit of a bully and we are still waiting to see what the police are able to piece together. Shy came to work and I took her down to the police station to file a report. The young girl said she was fine and refused Shy's offer to see her to school. They did exchange phone numbers which Shy passed on to the police. She has tried phoning this evening to see how she is, but all she is getting is an answering machine. So far we haven't heard back from the police. Prayers on Shy's behalf would be greatly appreciated. She is one very upset young lady and despite the young girl saying she was okay, she is worried about her. I understand the parent being upset, but his comments were really bordering on bullying and intimidating. Thankfully Shy has his comments on her voice mail.

My kitchen is coming along...the handles and knobs look terrific and so does the countertop. My sink is fitting very well. I'm a little overwhelmed though with the island. IT"S HUGE. Not sure that it really works in the kitchen, but we'll give it some time and see how it goes.

My Positives:

Back to work, so back on a schedule.
Being able to be there for Shyra today.
Knowing that we've placed the situation with God and He will work everything out for the best of all involved.
Stayed on track very well today. YAY!
One pound elimination...so thrilled, only 5 more to go to get back down to where I left off!

Thank you for stopping by and blessing my day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Prayers for Shyra, of course. Please keep us posted on how this turns out. It sounds as though she's a strong individual and will come out of this even stronger.

I've been "away" and have missed your positive blogs, Wanda. I'll be checking back in.

Have a blessed, beautiful day!

As I write this prayers are being said for Shyra. I'm so sorry this happened to her I know something like that is so unsettling. I hit a dog the other day and that upset me so I know it has to be even worse for her.

Hugs and prayers

WORKINGSTIFF 10/13/2009 10:29PM

I knocked a college student down with my car once (or rather he probably fell trying to get out of the way). It was raining, dark, and he was jay-walking. It was a one way street and I was watching oncoming traffic to my left, then started to turn right.

Long story short, he was ok, no harm done. I, however, pulled over to the curb and started bawling! He was maybe 18 or so. As the mother of two sons, I could not imagine hurting someone else's child...

Hopefully the situation you described will end well. Dad was probably very concerned about his daughter and no parent wants to think that something may have happened due to his child making a huge mistake (not watching/paying attention).

Stay strong!

Sorry to hear about the accident it is much worse when someone can't recognize that it was just an accident. I had a fender bender last week a kid hit me from behind. My only concern was if we were both ok (which we were) and of course my damage. Why waste emotions on getting angry when it was only an accident. Life is full of them. The kid even thanked me for my "kindness". Take care.

    Wanda,

Will be praying for Shyra and this unfortunate situation. God is always in control.

Congrats on the 1 lb elimination and being back on schedule (those schedules help me a lot!). Glad the kitchen is continuing to progress.

Have a good day!
