Day 4 holidays

Thursday, October 08, 2009

I'm doing a count down just because I can! lol

Here is what I woke up to this morning, and it continued off and on all day.

Lots of accidents on the roads today...I just don't understand why people will not slow down in this kind of weather. I spent almost all day at home as I really didn't want to be on the roads unnecessarily.

My kitchen installers did not return today...they will be here at 8:30 am tomorrow(I hope)
I did venture out to get a hair cut and a new "blue" streak put in the front of my hair. I'm getting adventurous...branching off from "purple" lo.

My Positives:
Despite the cold and snow....I know that the ground really needs the moisture.
Safety driving to the hairdressers and home.
A great haircut and a fun blue streak.
Supper was cooking in the crockpot...so supper was ready when I got home.
Believing that Q will have a job for the winter months soon. He is at a job fair today, looking at he hopes a position on the ski slopes.
More books to read...
Growing Your own Fruits and Vegetables; Practical Guide to Solar electricity;
How to do Just about Anything on a Computer; 500 Quick and Easy Decorating Projects and Ideas and 500 Sensational Ways to Create Your Ideal home. (I told you, I have very eclectic tastes LOL)
Being blessed by God through the people I came into contact with today. Had a fascinating conversation with my Hairstylist.

Thank you for stopping by, Have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, this is POSITIVE blogging...sn*w...a four letter word that I really don't like. Yuck!

Hope your cabinets are being installed as I write you! Be safe in that weather.

Thanks for sharing your reading list...I read ANYTHING except romance novels...so may check out a couple of those books...

Hugs and blessings! (Prayers still going for Kaeli and now for Q)

Your snow is supposed to find its way down to my house on Saturday. You are correct about people losing their winter driving skills every year. Dinner from the crockpot sounds like a good idea for a snowy day. I'll have to do that.

  Brrrrrrrrr!!!

Your list of books sounds like it should keep you busy. How long will it take you to get through that list? I would be reading for awhile.

Hope your Cabinet people show up. I know you go with the flow but it is just a tad inconvenient.

Sounds like another good day! Love the "blue streak" idea. I had never colored my hair in any form until about a year ago and that's only because I didn't want to look at the grey!! I've had it streaked just lightly with red but not enough that it was terribly noticeable. Maybe I'll get more bold one day.

I love snow - in someone else's pictures!! lol. I'm sure I'll have plenty of it here soon enough.

Thinking that I'll use my crock pot for tomorrow night's dinner.

Have a great holiday #5!

Day 3 Holidays

Wednesday, October 07, 2009

A busy day, started at 8 am with the kitchen installers arriving. Base cabinets and uppers are now in place. No doors or finishing as yet and no countertop, but hopefully it will be complete by the weekends end.

Because everyone arrived so early this morning, I wasn't able to get out doors for my walking today. I'm going to have to get creative about getting some extra calories burnt this evening. Thinking some time spend walking on the spot while I watch a program on tv just might do it.

Positives :
Kitchen is beginning to resemble a kitchen again. Microwave is back on the wall, not connected to power yet, but looking good.
Invited out to supper on Monday evening...YAY
I've made a great start on a scrapebook I'm creating online through Heritage makers. I'm so thrilled...I have been wanting to get this done for a few weeks now. Christmas presents!
Lots of stair walking again today.
Opportunity to chat for a couple of minutes with Nancy...love ya my friend.
So excited about Marla's test results....here comes that kidney for you Marla.
God, who blesses this family in so many remarkable ways. Thank you.

Have a great evening...hugs,
Wanda

It won't be long now before your kitchen is all put together and the inconvenience is just a funny memory. Way to find a way to move. That adaptability is the going to be the key to staying healthy!
Sleep well and nice chatting with you.

Day 2 of holidays

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

Woke up to a very cold blustery day, raining off and on. The winds were gusting from 50 to 90 km an hour. Definitely hold on to your hat sort of day.

I did manage to get my outdoor walk in...30 minutes between rain showers. Then another round of walking at IKEA.

Kitchen guys weren't able to show up today...say they will be here tomorrow morning at 8am...here's hoping.

Lots of running up and down my stairs today...everytime you want to wash something or get a drink, or fill the kettle it involves stairs! My house is a 4 level split, so there is really no where that you go that does not involve stairs. I must have made a couple dozen trips up and down those stairs today....great exercise.

My positives:

Got my outdoor walk in.
Extra walking at IKEA
Day for myself.
Lots of stairs to burn calories today.
Blessed to have running water to wash dishes etc...even if it involves stairs!
Able to use my stove to make meals as well as the crockpot. The fridge is still accessible too.
A wonderful day...time to sit down and start another new book.

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Wanda

First day of holidays!

Monday, October 05, 2009

Motivation Monday...hmmmm....first day of holidays....hmmmm.

Well I decided to be my own best friend today...I took myself out for a lovely brisk fresh aired walk this morning. Temperatures were on the brisk side...+3 this morning. With my brisk pace just to keep warm...I created some steamed up glasses..which made for an interesting hazy walk! lol
What a treat though to have the time to go for such a lovely walk. One that I plan on repeating if possible each day that I am off work this week.

My kitchen cabinets have arrived and are all now sitting in the kitchen. They will be back tomorrow afternoon to begin the installation. I have been assured though, that the chances of my kitchen being finished for Thanksgiving is slim. I'm okay with that though as we've been doing really well with finding alternative ways for making meals. Garry just might be doing a turkey on the BBQ! lol

I'm so excited about my new cupboards. After 10 days of a gutted kitchen, I'm more than ready to have the clutter put away.

My positives:

My cabinets are here.
A beautiful brisk walk this morning.
My SIL just phoned and my other brother is going to be in town on the 12th, so we've been invited to supper. YAY.
A fabulous honor of being the receipant of a long distance call yesterday. Nancy, what a joy to talk to you again.
My crockpot...made a wonderful chicken stew.

God for blessing this family.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, what fun to be able to take those wonderful walks! My work schedule is a bit nuts this week so I have to forego them...sob...

Can't wait to see photos of the new kitchen!

Speaking of BBQing the turkey...My cousins in Illinois had to do that the year I was there since their stove died the day before...Since then, they continue to cook it that way because they loved it so! You may start a new tradition...Hey, when IS Canadian Thanksgiving?

Hugs and blessings.

Making head way!

Saturday, October 03, 2009

The kitchen is making headway. The electrical wiring is all done, at least as much as can be done before the counters and the undermount lights on the cabinets go in. They will be back now on Monday to begin the initial installing of cabinets. Richard figures it may take most of next week to accomplish.
Chances are my lovely husband will be cooking Thanksgiving day dinner on the BBQ! This should be fun! lol

My positives:

It's cold enough to snow, but so far no white stuff.
Electrical work is coming along on schedule.
Picked up more great reading material at the library that was on hold for me....yep...I plan on some reading time!
I choose to create a wonderful day and that is precisely what occured.
Although tomorrow is serenity Sunday, we do have some prep work that needs to be finished on the walls before the cabinets go in. Not much to accomplish so shouldn't take too long.
God and friends in my life that continue to bless our family.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you all have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Wanda

    Wanda,

Please tell us if you're reading something interesting! I keep a list of books to look for when I'm in need of something new. I'm currently working on "How Doctors Think." Excellent book, and very helpful.

Enjoy your Sunday. Hope it's peaceful and refreshing.
