Thoughtful Thursday Blog

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Wow...it's Thursday already! One more day and then a lovely weekend. lol

Great meetings today. Our monthly staff meeting covered a huge amount of ground. We ended up with a 3 hours meeting and then headed into another meeting at 1pm that was great. We had the occupational health nurse come in to discuss the H1N1 pandemic and what we can do to attempt to stay healthy. Some extremely good information came out of it all. The one that I found the best was : Dishes....wash with soapy water, rinse with hot water and let them air dry....using dish towels to dry them is not a good idea as the virus can live up to 24 hours on the cloth. Often times people dry their hands on the dish towel and then use it to dry the dishes! Because where we work is a public place, the measures we take need to be more extreme than they might have to be at home. We have a plan of service in place should it become necessary for staff to work from home and should the pandemic become really bad, how we can cover for each other and still maintain our "social distance". Very interesting stuff.
The best thing that we can all do is "WASH YOUR HANDS" after everything and especially avoid touching your face, eyes or mouth with your hands if you have not santitized them first.

After work, I headed to Kitchen essentials to choose the color of stain that I wanted for my crown molding and other moldings on the cupboards and choose the door handles/knobs for the cupboard. I'm thrilled with my choices...and just believing that they are going to look great upon completion. Also found out the young gentleman that is handling our file is due to become a new Daddy any minute. How exciting for all of them.

My positives:
Great and productive meetings.
Although breezy (to say the least-40/50 km winds) the weather is lovely.
My choices are made for the moldings and the handles/knobs.
Stayed on track everyday this week....so nice to finally get back to feeling like I'm moving forward again.
God who blesses us each and everyday.
Contact via facebook yesterday from a cousin that I haven't had contact with for almost 40 years and a neighbor that we used to have some 30 years ago. I'm excited as we are getting together on October 3 with the old neighbors. Always makes me wonder what is in store as these old relationships reappear in my life. Hmmmmm.

Have a wonderful evening...thank you for stopping by.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, sounds like you had a very busy, but productive day, those are the good ones. It's hard to believe next week is the beginning of fall, one of my favorite seasons. I am trying to touch base with as many of my spark friends as I can today, been a little lacking in that area. When I am dizzy, looking at a computer screen, tv screen, trying to read or any of that stuff isn't good, thank goodness today I woke up without it. I see my family doctor on Monday and will see what she thinks. I am hoping it's just an inner ear thing and will be able to get it cleared up. I hope you throughly enjoy your weekend. We're going to see pictures of all the makeovers, right.

Hugs,
Shirl

thanks for the info. I think that I will be doing paper towels for hand drying from now on through the winter.

Good day, I love those kind of days.

Wednesday Blog

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

A short blog today...had to stop after work to get some groceries. We needed fruit and veggies. Bonus...today was the stores 1 year anniversary for their points program and they had some great sales on. Woo Hoo...love those sales. Plus the fact that I ended up collect triple points...which means that I now have $35.00 in free groceries. I'm planning on saving the points up though...Christmas is coming and I'll be able to buy a little extra with bonus dollars. Sure do love their program. The points you collect are worth dollar value on any groceries in the store.

A busy day at work...meeting this afternoon was great and I have two meetings tomorrow. One is the monthly safety committee meeting and then we have the occupational health nurse coming in the afternoon to talk about H1N1 and what we can do as a library to ensure staff and patron health.

This evening we have the kitchen people coming over to give us an update and to make sure everything is what it is supposed to be. Yippee...I'll have my new kitchen the first week of October...hopefully all put together in time for Thanksgiving. (Yes...in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in October)

Thanks for stopping by, hope your day was awesome and that you checked out Mauri's great challenge for Wednesday.

Hugs,
Wanda

I thought I would come over to your blog this morning. I don't know why, but everytime I think about Abraham and Esther and Jerry Hicks, I think of you, Wanda! And since I use them in my blogs so often, that means I think of you quite often!
I love to hear about home renovations! I renovate my condo in my dreams! I would love to buy the condo next door and knock out the walls! Woo hoo!
Gosh, thinking about Thanksgiving already! It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling even though I am pretty sure I will be working Thanksgiving at a new job. I think my department is days away from figuring out what 2 of the 10 stay. This may be me, or not. Either way, I am taking lots of deep breaths and watching a lot of Abraham DVD's!

Tuesday's blog

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Well my day started off shakey for some reason. I wasn't too sure if I was going to make it into to work or not. I woke up at my usual time...accomplished my exercises and had my usual serving of yogurt. Drank my water and headed to the computer to log on to SP. About 5 minutes into my computer time...I started to feel very nauseous. Ended up with the shakes and a broke out in a cold sweat. Needless to say the nausea led me to the bathroom. I went did feel some what better after my visit although still a bit of a headache. Decided as the nausea was not an issue anymore to head to work and see how the day progressed. I'm glad that I did go in as a couple of issues arose that needed to be dealt with, but by 10:30 am my head was telling me that by continuing to look at a computer screen was not going to be a wise choice. I headed home and debated with myself about lying down for a nap or sitting out in the sun on the back deck. The deck won for about an hour and then I headed in for a nap. I slept for a couple of hours and now the headache is gone and I'm feeling much better. Strange! Not sure what was going on...but I did need to listen to what my body was telling me.

My Positives:
Despite feeling not up to par this morning...I did go to work for 4.5 hours and was able to deal with a couple of crisis issues at work and then come home.
Wonderful sun time and nap time.
Feeling great now!
Payday tomorrow! woo hoo....thank you Lord for money that continues to flow in.
Plans in place for a nice light supper.
A job that enables me to leave when necessary.
God who blesses this family with so much.

Thank you for stopping by...hope that your day was wonderful and that you accomplished all that you set out to do.

Hugs,
Wanda

I think this time of year the weather affects us a lot, sorry your day didn't have such a great start, but glad it got better as the day went on. I did much, much better with the weekly challenge today, and that made me feel good. GS slept a lot and when he wasn't sleeping he was eating, I think by the time mom picked him up he was feeling ok. Tomorrow I am picking up my sis and going to meet her daughter, our brother and his wife at a restaurant, so tomorrow is all play day for me. Hope your day is a good one tomorrow.

Hugs,
Shirl

Monday's blog

Monday, September 14, 2009

It's been a busy day.

Dealt with the two cats having a spat at 5:30 morning. For some reason CJ has decided that he is a bully and out of no where will chase and harass Kismet. He chased her up stairs this morning and had her cornered. As he weight at least twice as much as Kismet, it's really not a fair disagreement. On the other hand, Kismet is such a "hissypants" any time he comes within three feet of her...so one is as bad as the other. Siggggghhhhh!

Lots of orders today at work, got most of them input and ready to send tomorrow. Hopefully there will be more orders coming down as it has been very sporadic this summer.

My positives:

It's big pick-up item tomorrow...which means that we can get rid of a couple of items that need to go to the dump. The county picks up things twice a year. It's such a great way of helping out those people that would have to rent a truck or have trouble disposing of large items. We have a falling apart old 9 drawer dresser and a queen size box spring.
A beautiful sunny day again today.
I've met my challenges from Positive Bloggers...woo hoo!

Have a great evening and if you haven't done your challenges....what's stopping you! lol

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, hahahahahahaha on CJ & Kismet! Sounds like my apt. everyday! Gracie & Katie circle their "wagons." Gracie begins to bathe Katie, who appears to be enjoying it...and then the race is on! It's only when I hear furniture move that I get concerned! My bathroom is off the kitchen and one eve when I got home from work, the kitchen chair - that had been tucked under the table - was sitting in the bathroom! I think I'd rather not know HOW that happened! Hahahahaha...

Hugs!

Wanda, I love that "hissypants" that made me laugh. Well I didn't get all the challenges done for today, but did get some done, will try and do it better tomorrow, it's a great one for this week, one I needed. Have a great Tuesday, I am going to be babysitting my 11 yr. old GS, he's not feeling well enough to go to daycare and school.

I'm just waiting on that final calorie total! Guess it will keep until after my fabulous 6:30 date at Open House. I love large trash day! I miss it most of the time, though. I moved to town, but don't take the paper. Nice chatting with you. Have an awesome evening. I look forward to your week's worth of basic blogging!
Love,
Nancy

Sunday Sept 13 blog

Monday, September 14, 2009

Okay...so I am doing this blog early Monday Morning...but I will also do another one this evening to account for the daily blog in the weekly challenge. You all have permission to do likewise as I did NOT get the weekly challenge posted until this morning. Which in itself is not fair as we needed to do something for Sunday! My apologies.

Yesterday, was a lazy day between lots of work. I set myself a goal of accomplishing some house hold chores as well as time to relax. I worked for an hour and then I "played" for an hour. It was a strange day and a strange way of doing things...but it worked! All the chores got done and I felt like I had relaxed also.

My positives:

I'm so blessed to have a husband who despite not having the skills for some of the handyman projects I plan...is willing to tackle them and learn. We actually have done a lot of learning of these skills together.
A gorgeous sunny day...yay...summer is still here.
Talked to my eldest on the phone last night. Sure do miss having her at home or at least close by.
I've got my goals in place for this week and I'm doing them! No more slacking off.
God and my guides who love and protect my family and friends.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll be doing another blog later today to account for Monday! lol

Hugs,
Wanda

I didn't blog either, so Wanda and Mauri don't feel bad. Wanda I may have to try that work and hour play an hour instead of full steam ahead thinking I'll get it all done if I just work, work, work. Sunday was a busy day, church in the morning, then GD's birthday celebration, she's 14, then off to visit a friend and celebrate her belated birthday, all in all it was a very nice day. Now we are into another week, let's make it a good one.

Great plan, Wanda, doing one hour of each...I may have to try that this week. I didn't do my blog yesterday, despite thinking about it all day. Too tired when I got home...am determined to write this eve.
