It's a another glorious day!

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Woke up with the birds this morning, another glorious day to enjoy.

Garry, Shy and I sat out on the back deck last night until almost midnight. As the temperature dropped and the night got blacker we bundled up in our blankets and with feet up and leaning back in our chairs we watched the wonder of the night sky. There was a lovely breeze (okay wind...hence the need for a blanket!) which cooled things off from the heat of the day.
We sat and just chatted and had lots of giggles and laughs. Just plain enjoying each others company and the peacefulness of the night. We planned out all the different ways we would like to improve the back yard for next year, including adding a gardening area for me to grow more veggies. Some of the plans will need to be implemented before winter this year...but we will see whether time and money allows for those plans to occur.

Today is a lovely new day, supposed to be another 29 degree day. Garry is planning on doing some outdoor work, and Shy and I are heading into Whyte Avenue in the city to do some walking and window shopping for a couple of hours. Exercise! When we get home, Shy is tackling the task of re-oiling the wooden outdoor chairs. They didn't get done in the spring and the sun has really dried them out. At least they will be ready for next year!

BBQ for supper tonight, roasted corn on the cob, veggie burgers served in pita bread and a big salad. I'm already hungry! Maybe I should go and have some breakfast! lol.

Have a wonderful day, enjoy the blessing that you have received...another day of life.

Hugs,
Wanda

August 29

Saturday, August 29, 2009

I was so tired last night that I was in bed very early and slept until 8 am this morning! For me that is wild! I sure needed the sleep though. Too many early morning for work and late evenings visiting with family.

I woke to a beautiful sunny day...temperatures are supposed to reach 29 today. Now we are finally getting summer weather. I'll take it!

Yesterday we said goodbye to all our summer students at work. They are all back to school on Monday and most will be graduating by next spring and out looking for jobs. We might even see some of them back with us as permanent fixtures. We'll miss our summer student, Ashley. She fit in so well with her quirkly sense of humour. She has promised to keep in touch which is nice.

Shy and I only have 3 more days of work and then we leave on Thursday morning to head to British Columbia to see Kaeli. I'm so excited about seeing her again. Talking on the phone is just not the same as talking in person. Shy and I will gone from Sept 3 and back on Sept 7. I will not have access to a computer while away, so am hoping to make arrangements ahead of time for the weekly challenges, positive quotes of the day and the daily challenges that I cover. If anyone wants to take on any of those tasks while I'm away....just shout!

My positives:

A great sleep last night, I'm ready to face the day.
Garry is off today also, we'll tackle some more reno projects!
A gorgeous sunny day...a wonderful way to wake up!
I'm excited about whatever the day has in store for me. When I face the day with excitement and positive expectations...I'm always blessed.

It's silly, singing Saturday....put a bounce into your step today. Let some music stir your soul and enjoy the day.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great one...I'll see you all later.

Hugs,
Wanda

  Wanda

Have an exciting and great bonding time with your daughters. Have a safe trip.

I think you may have deserved that extra sleep. zzzzzzzzzzz

Funny to read your temperatures are 29. I know you use a different gauge than we do so when I look at that it makes me think you are freezzzzzzzing. LOL

See you or rather hear from you when you get back.

Finally a busy day at work! Seems like the selectors just had an "ahhh" moment and realized that they only have two months to get their budgets 90% spent. Some of them have a ways to go! Put that together with the end of another month drawing near...yep, I'm busy. I love it though, as much as I've enjoyed having some short work days...I'd much rather be getting work done and getting paid!

Garry and Q took some time today to head out for a game of golf. Yay, that meant that Shy and I could go and pick up our favorite veggie burritos in a bowl. Yumm, Yummm. Love my veggies. I didn't have to cook tonight as the guys said they wouldn't be home for supper and Shy was happy to have our salads.

Another world legend passes on. The passing of Sen. Ted Kennedy. This year has seen so many well known people complete their earthly missions. For those of you who mourn his loss, my condolences.

My positives:

a busy day at work...love being busy...the day goes by so fast.
I didn't have to cook tonight and got to indulge in a wonderful veggie meal.
another day of life.
a renewed determination to get that scale moving again.
my intake of water has once again increased. I drink mostly water, but got side track for awhile for some reason and my usual intake nose dived. Back up to 10 glasses a day again.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Have a wonderful evening.
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, I have the other wish - a slow workday! :)

Water is never an issue for me...I LOVE water! :) Drink about 14 glasses a day...my fave beverage.

Thank you for the condolences on Senator Kennedy. I, for one, am mourning him. My cousin from Maine made an interesting observation on my FB status yesterday - that he was a man who had the opportunity to turn his life around, and did it.

Hugs...and here's a couple for you:

I too have slid on my water consumption, but am working on getting it back to at least 8 a day, and after two weeks of not doing hardly any exercise am working on making it a daily item. I sort of took a short side trip away from everything, but after looking at my picture at my heaviest that jolted me back to reality and what I need to be doing. Glad work is getting a little busier for you, I think time goes by quicker when we are busy. Your's and Shy's veggie bowls sounded good. Hope your evening was good.

Hugs

What a great day!

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

It's a great day...our son came home for a few days visit and supply replenishing trip. He arrived about 2:30 am and will be leaving again to go back up north on Sunday. It's so nice to see him. It's been almost 4 months since I've seen him.

A cloudy day but very warm out. A great day for sitting out on the back deck, eyes closed and enjoying the solitude as I was the only one home for a couple of hours this afternoon. Things are slow at work, so I've been taking off early from work and enjoying some me time.

My Positives:

Talking Tuesday...had opportunities to chat with lots of people today.
More library books ready for me to pick up...always a treat.
Q is home for a few days.
Early home from work, and lovely meditation time out on the back deck.
A great deal on a remenant of granite...it's enough to finish the top of the fireplace hearth. Woo Hoo! It may be the only place that I can afford to have granite in the house...but what a blessing!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have had a wonderful day too.

Hugs,
Wanda

What a night we had last night! Winds gusting to 80km an hour and then some!
Tornado warnings and even the "emergency alert" message on TV. All looks good in our little corner this morning though, although we are supposed to get some rain, as yet that hasn't occured.

Garry has the day off work today, so we are making it a day to finish some of the smaller projects we have on the go. Since putting in the new cork floors in the entry ways, the closet doors had to be trimmed so they could be re-installed. While we have them off, we've decided that a nice fresh coat of paint would be nice on them also. That is today's project...Garry plans on setting things up in the garage so the paint smell stays outside. We are also planning of getting the supplies to make the new fireplace front. We want to cover up the out of date and out of place old red brick with a more updated and nicer front. We still have the planters to complete for around the deck and another coat of sealer to put on the deck. The sealer won't get done today as the things are damp from last night as well as the threat of more rain. But it's on the list!

My positives:
No damage that we can see from the winds last night.
Garry has the day off work.
So far the sun is shining.
My family....yep, I'll keep them all!
Positive Bloggers who offer such encouragment and support.
It's Silly Saturday...so giggles and smiles.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderfully silly day. Let that inner child enjoy the day with you.

Hugs,
Wanda

    Wanda,
So glad that you are ok after that storm you had. Sounded bad.
We had the threat of a Hurricane, but it has turned off and headed north now...
With it being peak season... we can relate to tornados popping up from all the winds.

Good Luck getting that To Do list all checked off.

Have a great week ahead...
