August 11

I didn't get to my computer last night as Garry arrived home from a week's trip and we spent the evening catching up on each others time. He had a fabulous time fishing and spending time with Quin. He's already making plans to go back next year!

Quin was going to come back with him for a week's holiday, but they had a larger group of clients arriving and were short one guide so Quin stayed to help out. We probably won't see him now until the end of October, but that is okay...he's earning money! Hopefully when he gets back this fall, he will have enough saved to pay for a course he has been wanting to take. It's a 3 month course on search and rescue.

My positives:
Garry is home.
I mastered my munchies yesterday and I'm going to do the same again today.
Busy at work, which makes the day fly by.
I had a good nights sleep last night, so feeling ready to face the day today.
God who watches over my family and keeps them safe.

It's a great day to be alive, enjoy it!

Hugs,
Wanda

What a life Quin has chosen for himself... I'm glad that Garry is back safe and sound... Did he bring pictures again this year?

Thanks for the positives... I always need a good dose of them.
And this is where I come for my fix...

((hugs))

Oh... hope they didn't catch any of my relatives... They still do catch and release right? lol

I did have a great day, thanks. Went to the mall and spent some money. I have to go back to day on an errand for my sister. I told her that I was able to replace one of my broken glass covers to my casserole dish at the Corningware outlet and she said she needs one for her 1 1/2 qt. dish. So be it. I will be travelling to see her this weekend. I have to pick up Mary, so it will be a nice exchange. (a dish cover for a daughter) Have a terrific Tuesday and I look forward to hearing how your day went.
Love,
Nancy

Silly Saturday it is!

Saturday, August 08, 2009

What better day to experience crazy fun and humour than on Silly Saturday.

I decided this morning to do some painting in the family room. It promises to be a nice day, I can open all the windows and doors and get the nice breeze circulating throughout the house. Hopefully it would cut down on the paint fumes that I'm allergic to! Yes even the VOC paint affects me! I figured while my hubby is away it would be a good time to just get it done, one less thing for him to have to accomplish when he gets back home.

Started painting around 7:30 am, trying to be careful not to make too much noise as Shy was still sleeping. I got two coats of primer on to cover the lovely shade of clay that we had painted the room before Christmas and no one liked. Then I got one coat of "Toasted Almond" on the walls. Decided to take everything outside and use the garden hose to wash up. Great idea...the paint tray cleaned up so nice and quick...then the fun started. I figured, seeing as I had used a new roller on the Toasted almond, I would just wash it out so that I could if need be use it again for a second coat tomorrow. Idea was great, just not the execution of the idea! I grabbed the garden hose and held the roller in the other hand and sprayed. Do you know how fast that roller spins when it's hit by a jet spray of water!!!! Holy cow...I had water and paint flying everywhere. Good thing the sun was nice and warm cause I was covered in watered down paint. LOL. I had to hose myself down, clothes and all cause I didn't want to have to put the clothes in the washing machine with all that paint, and I didn't want to have to throw them out! What a hoot! Sure did put a huge smile on my face as I thought about what I must look like covered in watery paint and then turning the garden hose on myself.

I'm standing on the deck realizing that I can't just walk into the house now as I'm dripping wet (but the roller and the tray are clean!). I had to call Shy to come and bring me a towel. Then decided to get her to bring me a glass of water and headache pill as my head was not doing so well from the fumes. Shy, the sweetheart that she is just handed me my requests, smiled and closed the door again!
I sat out in the nice warm sun, relaxed, got rid of most of the headache and dried off.

Ahhhhh, silly Saturday....has sure been fun so far.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit...hope your Saturday has some great humour in it also.

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad that you are all cleaned up from your adventure. I'm still looking for some silly in my day. I am such a silly person most of the time. I must just be an obstinate girl. Reverse psychology does work on me. It's true. "Be silly!" "no, I WON'T!" Oh well. I'm working on that character trait. Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing yours.
Love,
Nancy

>had to come back and do a spell check. I may be obstinate, but I don't know how to spell it yet. Now that I know how to spell it, maybe I can do something about it!

Well my good intentions....

Thursday, August 06, 2009

Okay, my good intentions this morning of walking to work never quite materilized. I started out the door this morning at 5:20 am only to find that it was raining out! I wasn't prepared to walk for 30 minutes to work in the rain and then have to spend a day feeling damp and chilly.
Turned around and came back in the door, then stopped and thought...why not drive to work now and then spend 30 minutes walking around inside my place of work (the library). That is just what I did. Got my walking in and felt great about it. We have a large library and 30 minutes of walking every which way in was actually rather entertaining. I was the only person in the building, so enjoyed the solidtude! Where there is a will there is a way.

My positives:
Got my walking in as planned.
My performance review went well.
Busy day at work.
Time to curl up after work and enjoy some reading.
More good books ready for me to pick up at the library. (always a plus)
God who shows me that there are many different paths to achieve what we want in our healthy lifestyle journey.

Have a wonderful evening all, I'm off to check out Mauri's challenge for today.

Hugs,
Wanda

Way to go on not using the circumstances to give in to the negative options voice. I'm plugging away here and making some progress. Got to get back to work, but glad I had a moment to visit Wandaville. Have a great Saturday!

Nancy

A busy day at work, we got a huge shipment of books in and being that we are short staffed due to holidays...we are busy!
That is okay though, I'd rather be busy than always trying to find something else to do.
Tomorrow is my year review meeting. So hopefully my supervisors are as happy to have me as I am to be working there. It's hard to believe that I've been at this job now for eight years. Another ten years and I will be able to retired...maybe! lol

Garry phoned me from Fort McMurray today to let me know that they had arrived there safe and sound and that he would be flying out to the fishing lodge about 3pm. So looking at the clock...he's already in the air! Sure hope the weather cooperates for them and they all have a great time fishing.

My positives:
Busy...which is a good thing.
Phone call from Garry.
Email from Kaeli to let me know that she will be elsewhere working for the next 10 days.
Although we have a major car gas shortage in Alberta (due to one of the severe storms a couple of weeks ago, damage to two of the plants) I was able to find a gas station today that gave me $22.00 in gas. ( they must be rationing it as the pumps shut off automatically at that amount!) At least I have gas to get back and forth to work.
So you think you can dance...is on tonight. Shy has managed to get me hooked on that tv program. lol
So many little blessings occured in my day, it's hard to list them all. From the friendly good monring smiles to have a good evenings as I left work, to emails, phone calls, and contact from team members. Thank you.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a wonderful evening. I'm off to check out the Writing Wednesday assignment.

Hugs,
Wanda

Hi Wanda. I hope I didn't miss that finale. But the dancer that I liked was voted off a couple of weeks ago according to my sister. Janine? I don't even know her name but I liked her dancing. I was out of town for most of the season. I'm not sure how they managed to drag it out so far! I'm proud of your walking. I had no idea that you were experiencing a gas shortage. Bummer. Walking will help that too! It's taken me half a week to get around to reading blogs, but I'm getting back into the swing of things. Hope you day is delightful and I look forward to reading about it a bit later. Cheers.
Love,
Nancy

August 4

Back to work today after a nice long weekend. I have 2 co-workers that are away on holidays right now, so things are busy. I like being busy though, so that's not a problem.

Garry left today for a weeks fishing with Q up north. It's their Father/Son time and I know both were really looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post when he gets back home.
Shy and I are heading to BC to see Kaeli on the Sept long weekend...its the girls time! Not sure what all we are going to get up to, but I've been told it might involved some horse back riding! Woo Hoo! At least I know that that poor horse is not going to buckle underneath me anymore...Yay for eliminating so much weight!

My positives:
A busy day at work.
Garry having the opportunity to go fishing with Q.
Time on my own...means Shy and I can eat the things we like...no cooking any meat!
Being blessed in so many little ways.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad you are getting your "girl time" in.

That retirement will sneak up sooner than you think. In the meantime it's great to have a job you love.

Wanda, have fun with the girls! Back when I weighed a little less, I took English riding lessons - just adore horses...but cats fit in my apartment better! Hahaha...no, I wouldn't trade the girls for anything!

That's so nice father and son get to spend time together and you and girls get to enjoy each others company. Let us know how the horse back riding goes if you end up doing that, I've never done that, ha, ha funny about the horse and the rider. I am sure you'll all make some wonderful memories.

Hugs,
Shirl
