Well my good intentions....

Thursday, August 06, 2009

Okay, my good intentions this morning of walking to work never quite materilized. I started out the door this morning at 5:20 am only to find that it was raining out! I wasn't prepared to walk for 30 minutes to work in the rain and then have to spend a day feeling damp and chilly.
Turned around and came back in the door, then stopped and thought...why not drive to work now and then spend 30 minutes walking around inside my place of work (the library). That is just what I did. Got my walking in and felt great about it. We have a large library and 30 minutes of walking every which way in was actually rather entertaining. I was the only person in the building, so enjoyed the solidtude! Where there is a will there is a way.

My positives:
Got my walking in as planned.
My performance review went well.
Busy day at work.
Time to curl up after work and enjoy some reading.
More good books ready for me to pick up at the library. (always a plus)
God who shows me that there are many different paths to achieve what we want in our healthy lifestyle journey.

Have a wonderful evening all, I'm off to check out Mauri's challenge for today.

Way to go on not using the circumstances to give in to the negative options voice. I'm plugging away here and making some progress. Got to get back to work, but glad I had a moment to visit Wandaville. Have a great Saturday!

A busy day at work, we got a huge shipment of books in and being that we are short staffed due to holidays...we are busy!
That is okay though, I'd rather be busy than always trying to find something else to do.
Tomorrow is my year review meeting. So hopefully my supervisors are as happy to have me as I am to be working there. It's hard to believe that I've been at this job now for eight years. Another ten years and I will be able to retired...maybe! lol

Garry phoned me from Fort McMurray today to let me know that they had arrived there safe and sound and that he would be flying out to the fishing lodge about 3pm. So looking at the clock...he's already in the air! Sure hope the weather cooperates for them and they all have a great time fishing.

My positives:
Busy...which is a good thing.
Phone call from Garry.
Email from Kaeli to let me know that she will be elsewhere working for the next 10 days.
Although we have a major car gas shortage in Alberta (due to one of the severe storms a couple of weeks ago, damage to two of the plants) I was able to find a gas station today that gave me $22.00 in gas. ( they must be rationing it as the pumps shut off automatically at that amount!) At least I have gas to get back and forth to work.
So you think you can dance...is on tonight. Shy has managed to get me hooked on that tv program. lol
So many little blessings occured in my day, it's hard to list them all. From the friendly good monring smiles to have a good evenings as I left work, to emails, phone calls, and contact from team members. Thank you.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a wonderful evening. I'm off to check out the Writing Wednesday assignment.

Hi Wanda. I hope I didn't miss that finale. But the dancer that I liked was voted off a couple of weeks ago according to my sister. Janine? I don't even know her name but I liked her dancing. I was out of town for most of the season. I'm not sure how they managed to drag it out so far! I'm proud of your walking. I had no idea that you were experiencing a gas shortage. Bummer. Walking will help that too! It's taken me half a week to get around to reading blogs, but I'm getting back into the swing of things. Hope you day is delightful and I look forward to reading about it a bit later. Cheers.

Back to work today after a nice long weekend. I have 2 co-workers that are away on holidays right now, so things are busy. I like being busy though, so that's not a problem.

Garry left today for a weeks fishing with Q up north. It's their Father/Son time and I know both were really looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post when he gets back home.
Shy and I are heading to BC to see Kaeli on the Sept long weekend...its the girls time! Not sure what all we are going to get up to, but I've been told it might involved some horse back riding! Woo Hoo! At least I know that that poor horse is not going to buckle underneath me anymore...Yay for eliminating so much weight!

My positives:
A busy day at work.
Garry having the opportunity to go fishing with Q.
Time on my own...means Shy and I can eat the things we like...no cooking any meat!
Being blessed in so many little ways.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful evening.

Glad you are getting your "girl time" in.

That retirement will sneak up sooner than you think. In the meantime it's great to have a job you love.

Wanda, have fun with the girls! Back when I weighed a little less, I took English riding lessons - just adore horses...but cats fit in my apartment better! Hahaha...no, I wouldn't trade the girls for anything!

That's so nice father and son get to spend time together and you and girls get to enjoy each others company. Let us know how the horse back riding goes if you end up doing that, I've never done that, ha, ha funny about the horse and the rider. I am sure you'll all make some wonderful memories.

Severe thunder storm warning!

Sunday, August 02, 2009

Last night we got hit hard by another severe thunder storm warning. This one has done even more damage than the one 2 weekends ago.
This time there have been fatalitiies. The Big Valley Jamboree that is held annual in Camrose (100 Km south of us) had about a 3 minutes warning, the huge stage was blown over, killing 1 person, critically injuring 2 and as many as 75 others injured. In Calgary, a piece of building blew off a high rise under construction and killed a 3 year old walking with her family on the sidewalk below. Spruce Grove just west of us had severe home damage and uprooted trees also. This storm had winds of 120km an hour. Thankfully we didn't sustain any damage this round, but we are under warnings again tonight. Just letting you all know, just in case we lose power and I can't get on the internet. Not to worry, as that will be the most likely scenrio...loss of power.
British Columbia ...seems like most of the province is so tinder dry that fires are the problem there. Friends have once again been evacuated from their homes, thankfully no lose of human life. Alberta seems to be having severe weather storms and Ontario seems to be having the wettest month ever and they are all experiencing flooding. Such strange weather!

My Positives:
We have finished painting the kitchen.
Garry and I had time to go scouting out light fixtures for the kitchen. Haven't purchased anything as yet...the stuff we both like is too much money...so we will keep on looking.
No damage sustained at our house by last night's storm.
Spoke with our eldest tonight...she is under severe thunderstorm warnings where she is living, so by tomorrow she may have blown to where we are! lol
Garry is already for his fishing trip up north. He leaves on Tuesday.
Long weekend...so tomorrow is a holiday! YIPPEE!
God who keeps us all in His care.

Wanda, be safe! I saw the Jamboree incident on CNN early this a.m. and wondered how close to you it was. Prayers for your safety flying your way!

Hugs and blessings,

August 1 A new month!

Saturday, August 01, 2009

Okay, another new month, another opportunity to move forward. The next two months are going to be very busy months for me. August will see us doing lots of painting inside the house, we still have 2 levels to go! This morning we are going to finish all the painting required in the kitchen. I have a couple of workshops to attend this month too which will be exciting but time consuming. September will see Shy and I leaving for 5 days over the long weekend and heading to BC to see Kaeli and enjoying our "girls weekend". I love the fact that my girls are just as in to dedicating time each year that the three of us get together and just spend time with each other. Then once we get home, it will be demolishe time for my old kitchen, new electrically going in, new flooring and then all new cupboards. I'm so excited!
Plus still working full-time and heading into a very busy "get those budgets spent" time at work. I have one workshop in Sept also to attend. Should be an interesting time!

Well, it's Silly Saturday...so let's share some giggles and let our inner child out to play. Life is too short to always be serious and working hard! Head on over to the daily challenges and see if you can give or get a giggle.

Have a wonderfully fabulous day, I know I'm going to....I'm choosing to make this day a wonderful one...stuff happens...and that is okay...I'm choosing to see the positives in what ever the Lord brings my way today.

PS Garry is heading out on Tuesday to go up north and do some more fishing with Q. Hope they have a wonderful Father/Son time.
