Things are beginning to grow....

Monday, June 29, 2009

My containers garden is beginning to take on some resemblance of new things! Like me, each container is a work in progress. From preparing the soil, to planting healthy seeds to seeing some results as they are cared for and tended to, my body too is experiencing these changes. Healthiness is becoming a way of life.

My zucchini and tomato plants....I'm so proud, I have 17 tiny little tomatoes beginning.

My carrots are coming up in the big blue container, romaine lettuce is thriving and my dill is producing about 4 plants...not sure what happened to all the other seeds in that pot! And my "guard" car Kismet is making sure they all do what they are supposed to!

Here I have a couple of pepper plants in the long green container and more lettuce and some geraniums.

More lovely flowers beginning to recover from the heavy frost we had earlier.

I'm enjoying the opportunity to grow some fresh veggies and am even planning an extension on my container gardening for next year! Who would have ever thought, I'd be an outdoor gardener! lol

My positives:

Although a frosty start to the morning, we had a beautiful day.
A great lunch out at the Pasta Pantry....compliments of Geff (the asst. supervisor)
A very healthy supper, decided to save my fruit salad for tomorrows lunch and instead Shy and I fixed ourselves taco salad for supper...me minus the tacos and sour cream.
Positive Bloggers members who are wonderful supporters and give me encouragement to be the best that I can be each day.
God, who blesses me daily.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a wonderful evening. Tomorrow is Talking Tuesday...get those typing fingers ready and the chatty voice.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, I've always wanted a garden...but if I put them outside, they'll become my landlady's! :) So I guess I have to stick with the local farmers' market!

Look great...but you can guess what I think looks the most beautiful! Well, it's a who, not a what...KISMET!

Hugs and happy gardening,
Mauri

What lovely pictures of your deck and your container gardening, very, very nice. Our youngest DD got her dad a tomato kit for Father's Day, and we saw her on Friday and she gave it to her dad, he came home that very afternoon and planted them, this is from seeds, so I don't know if they'll make it or not. One of our upstairs neighbors has those hanging upside down tomato planters, maybe we'll try something like that next year. I see kitty is standing guard over your plants. We are having a much cooler week, it's going down in the 50's tonight and tomorrow and Wed. it's only going to be in the 50's to low 60's, quite a change from last week and the 91 and 98 degree days, it is suppose to be in the 80's for the 4th of July. Enjoy the rest of your evening and have a good day tomorow.

Wanda ... your deck looks awesome! I just noticed that some women on the website I go to for gardening (http://www.yougrowgirl.com) help have been planting potatoes in bags - some in fabric grocery bags! I might try this out at the allotment next year!

I am about to soak some beans and put them into the soil as soon as I can get back out the allotment (it's raining for 3-4 more days here) ... the thing with beans I just found out is that you have to pick them in order for them to produce more ... if you don't pick them for a week they stop producing! One year about a decade ago I think I bought a bean plant and it didn't seem to do anything - then at the end of the summer the neighbour said there was a bean about a foot long on their side of the fence - that's all it produced was one bean! ... but it was a big one heheh

Thanks for sharing all the photos ... it'll be fun to see them again further along in the season too.

Saturday June 27

I thought I would lry getting my blog done first thing this morning...then at least I know I've done one. Seems that by the time I've done visiting everyone else's blogs and posts after work, I shut down my computer and then realize I haven't done my blog!

I have a busy day before me, my usual weekend chores, laundry, housecleaning, tending to my outdoor container garden and helping Garry with painting and installing the new baseboards just to name a few of the things we have lined up for the weekend.

I'll also post this week and next week's challenges as I will be off line from July 1 to July 6. We have company coming and I don't want to be rude by spending time on the computer.

I had a wonderfu opportunity yesterday to share with a co-worker some things that God has been doing in my life. Actually surprised myself, as some of the things we talked about, I don't usually let people know about outside of my immediate family. I just have to trust that what I shared, God had a purpose for this person to hear.

We didn't get our forecasted rain yesterday, but have woken up to overcast skies this morning, so maybe it's just a day late in arriving. I will have to water all my plants today though if the rain doesn't actually start. I held off yesterday as it really looked a couple of times as though it was going to start. Skies got very dark, temps dropped and we got one or two drops!

I need to go to the library today also to pick up some books that are on hold for me. I love that I get emails when books are waiting for me. I usually try and check before leaving work, but these must have come in after I left yesterday. Good thing, as I need some more reading material.

My Positives, so far today.......

A great sleep last night.
Another day of life.
Time to accomplish all that needs to be done.
My plants in my containers are doing well. (Must take some pictures, to share)
The blessing of family and friends.
Thank you Lord for blessing me with another day of life to be all that You have created me to be this day.

Thank you for stopping by. It's Silly Saturday, share some humor, laughter is good for the soul.

Hugs,
Wanda

Whew! And I thought I had a busy weekend!

Have fun with your guests!!! Hope we get to hear all about it...

Now for sharing things...I believe G-d brings people to us and opens our lips to share if He believes it will help others...We never know what others need...just need to be open to let G-d do His work through us...

Hugs and blessings,
Maurizia

Wanda - Hope your weekend allows you a little window of time to relax and enjoy ... it's great also getting things done and ticked off the 'list' ... so glad to hear you are enjoying your containers (I think we're getting 3 days of rain starting tomorrow - if we don't I'll be watering as well)! And enjoy your company - a change is as good as a rest sometimes. Cheers!

Wow company for a whole week... you want more? BIL is still here... LOL

I would not do that to you my friend... It's nice to hear what all you are up too...

I'm like you and really don't like sharing things with folks I don't know well... But sometimes it comes out and you have to hope that it will not go further or that it will be of some help to them...

Good Luck with your weekend to do list... Sounds productive... lol

Sorry I haven't been blogging... I just have not taken the time and have not been very positive so just let it go...

Oh and before I forget... Marla's Computer died so she won't be online for a while... I called her last week because I got worried... But she is ok... well she was... I will let you know ( if you are not talking to her) if I hear anything...

Have a wonderful weekend and Enjoy that company...

I'm back to normal....

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Woke up this morning straight out of a heavy duty dream and with a bad headache. Because of my low tolerance for meds, I knew that I might be in for a rough ride at work today. I did manage to get the bulk of my work accomplished before finally having to listen to my body and head for home just after lunch. Not sure why I had such a terrific headache as I'm generally a very healthy person. Perhaps it had something to do with the intense dream I experienced last night, although the dream itself was not anything I would have thought as being stressful. The dream is still very vivid in my mind, so I know that there is a message in it for me, some of which I believe I understand. Anyway, came home and took a tylenol and immediately headed for bed. Zonked out almost immediately and slept for a couple of hours. Still a bit of a residual of the headache when I awoke, so headed outdoors to my mediation spot on the deck, sat back, closed my eyes and let my spirit drift with the peacefulness.
I'm thrilled to say, I'm doing much better now and anticipate a full day at work tomorrow and feeling great.
I must admit though, that I'm curious about what tonight's dreams will bring, as I'm sure there is more to the dream from last night than I've been able to understand. So I will say a healing prayer before falling asleep tonight and trust that what needs to be yet revealed with be revealed in God's perfect timing and that I will not experience any discomfort as a result of any deep dreaming.

My positives:

The opportunity to leave work early and take care of my body.
A lovely deck that offers me a place of tranquility.
My favorite food for dinner tonight....a veggie burrito in a bowl....basically it's all the fixings for a burrito minus the burrito!
Watching "so you think you can dance" with Shy tonight. Always a fun experience, she is our dancer in the family.
Payday today! WOO HOO!
God in my life.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit, have a wonderful evening....tomorrow is Thoughtful Thursday....Random Acts of Kindness day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sometime technology is not very friendly....

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

It's been a frustrating past three days. Q has been trying to call from the remote location that he is working at up north. The call will connect to our phone, we answer but then the line seems to shut down, I'll hear him say hello and that is all we can say, before the connection is gone again. ARRRRGGGHHHH! I've tried reversing the call and calling him and all that I get is an anwering machine. SIGGGGHHHH.

Hopefully he will send me a message via facebook.

Shy borrowed my vehicle and drove into the city to meet a friend and go to improv tonight. It's improv week and they love going.

My positives:
Had a lovely sit out on my deck after work today, the wind was blowing, so had to wear a jacket, but it was nice regardless.
A chatty talking Tuesday.
Attempts by my son to phone me.
Friends, friends and friends. I am so blessed.

thank you all who stop by for a visit, I'm working my way through all my emails and who to touch base with each one of you.

Have a wonderful evening.

hugs,
Wanda

Oh, Wanda, you know after my computer troubles I'm nodding heartily about the frustration from technology...but at least we have it, right?! and it works most of the time!

I love sitting on your deck with you! :) Actually I loved being at my CT cousins' home...they have the best outdoor space...having left many of the trees on their property untouched! Lots of wonderful critters visit...and it's the best sitting round the firepot!

Mauri

Wanda - I agree that sometimes the technology is not very friendly... We got a new Dell All in One Printer,Copier, FAX... The Fax part was what we were wanting more than the other... Well I've had it replaced twice and it's still will not receive a fax properly. Grrrrr. So this morning I sent Andy to the basement to retrieve the OLD (all I do it fax) fax machine... hee hee Sometimes simple is easier...

Hope you get a message from Q... I know you miss him... Hope the polar Bears didn't eat the phone... hee hee Tell him to bring them a pepsi or is it coke... I forget... LOL

Enjoy your day...

Just reporting in...

What a lovely weekend I've had.
Friday...a day off work, filled with sunshine and spotty rain. Garry had the day off work also, so we met up with Shy on her lunch hour and shared a lunch. After lunch we came back home and finished up some chores around the house.

Saturday.. another beautiful sunny day with intermittent rain. Although the rain never lasted for very long, it was enough to give the plants and grass a bit of a drink.
Had an email from our son who is working up north to say all is well and he is busy. Spent some time wandering around pricing out more renos things...didn't buy anything...just getting prices. Garry and Shy went to look for a car for Shy. The one they looked at though was not well taken care of and very abused, so they passed on it. She has a limited budget so finding something she can afford has been a little difficult. The plus for her is she is not in a hurry.

Spent lots of time out on the deck just enjoying my "ocean" sounds, reading and visiting with each other.

My positives:
A three day weekend.
Lots of little things accomplished.
Lots of relaxing and just being.
This week's challenge has been posted.
Chatting with Nancy.
Hearing from Quin. (Marla...tell Kevin, Q says the fishing is great! lol)
It's Father's Day today...a time to honor "dads"
My glass is full.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day.

Hugs,
Wanda
