Yippee it's Friday!

Friday, June 12, 2009

This has been a week at work that seemed to have extra hours in each day. Everyone at work was feeling the same way.

When I got home from work, I decided to try out this handy little tool that we bought at Canadian Tire....it's for weeds. I am in love with this wonderful invention. It's like a claw on a stick. You center over the weed you want to remove, step down on the side bar and pull it to the side and out pops the weed. I weeded the entire front lawn of all the dandelions and some thistles before having to go and get Shy from work.
After supper, Garry wanted to try it out in the back yard, so we spent another hour outside. Garry did the weeding, I did the bucket emptying. Tomorrow I will finish the last little bit. Have no idea what kind of calories we burned, but we were both broke out in a sweat doing it.
YAY for calories burned and dandelions almost gone!

Yesterday after work, I went and got my hair cut and decided to get my purple streak put back in. It's fun and crazy and I'm amazed at the difference in how it makes me feel.
My new avatar picture is Shyra and I. Love that young lady to pieces.

My positives:

It's Friday.
Dandelions are disappearing with out having to use chemicals. Hard work, but no chemicals.
An armload of books to keep myself entertained with this weekend.
Monthly massage day tomorrow...and boy am I looking forward to it. So very grateful that Garry's medical plan covers once a month treatments.
Marla has been able to post two days in a row. We miss you Marla when you are gone.
A wonderful surprise post card in today's mail. Thank you Kathy. It's beautiful.
God who blesses us each and every day.

Thank you for stopping by, have a wonderful evening and weekend.

You are welcome my dear friend... Just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you that day and wanted to share it with you. lol
Now... that tool sounds like a winner for sure. it sounds like one we have but ours has a claw and you just turn it and it loosens the ground so you can pull the weed more easily.

At any rate... yay the weeds are gone and calories were burned... That is the best part.

Enjoy your weekend my friend...

R>PS Love the new avatar... Who are those two young beauties??? LOL Love the purple streak... I need a BLUE one! lol

Who knew getting rid of weeds could be so much fun! I have a feeling if I pulled all the dandelions out of my yard, there would just be a lot of dirt left! hahaha!!

Enjoy your weekend!

Our Library board rocks!

Monday, June 08, 2009

Today our library board put on a beautiful staff appreciation luncheon. What a lovely way of letting the staff know that they appreciate our hard work. It was a beautiful luncheon with lots of healthy salads and veggie dishes. There was a huge cake (which I did not partake of) and lots of fresh cut fruit.
I also had time today to take a much needed break and go for a brisk 20 minutes walk outside. It was nice to take my break at work and be able to get outside and move. Then this evening while watching the news I spent 40 minutes walking in place. Woo Hoo 60 minutes today...I'm getting back in stride!

Positives of the day:

A lovely healthy appreciation luncheon.
Time for a good brisk outdoor walk while at work.
Total of 60 minutes walking today.
My container gardening survived the night outdoors last night.
Kitchen design team is coming Wednesday evening to do final measurements...I'm very excited about finally getting a user friendly kitchen. (I think I only mention it every blog!)
Sunny weather predicted for the weekend...we certainly could use some good soaking rain though.
God who shows me in so many ways that He is right beside me.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. It's Talking Tuesday tomorrow, so get those vocal cords warmed up and those typing fingers ready to go!

My New Deck!

Thursday, June 04, 2009

My lovely new deck is almost finished. The main part is done, just the leveling of the stairs and the building of the planters to do.

New cedar decking...so much better than the "pile" in the background.

I'm loving the huge expansion!

Garry and Q hard at work.

Corner view.....the corner piece is where an angles two tier planter will go. It will sit about 15 inches above the deck surface.

The open space is where the second larger two tiered planter will go. Yay, more gardening room!

I'm so thrilled with all the added room on the deck. No more danger of chairs falling off the edges. We can actually seat people on the deck without fear of them falling off.

My positives:
We had a meeting with the people that are doing our new kitchen for us...yay, if all goes well by the end of August I should have my new kitchen. I'll post before and after pictures.
Although it was on the cooler side today, there was still sunshine. Supposed to get some much needed rain tonight.
Our computer system is back up and running successfully at work. We have been down for two days while upgrades were taking place.
It's Friday tomorrow...Yippee....I have so many things I'm hoping to accomplishe this weekend.
Life...it's just plain wonderful. I choose to make it that way, so it just is!

All of you who stop by and leave such encouragement and lovely comments. Thank you for sharing this journey of life with me.

Have a wonderful evening. Tomorrow is Fabulous Friday, don't forget to let the world know just how fabulous you are.

I'm feeling better!

Wednesday, June 03, 2009

Yes, woke up this morning and feeling fine. I'm still a bit stuffed up from the paint fumes, but doing great. My tylenol knocked me out so I had a great sleep.

A busy meeting day, followed by us doing some major clean-up in our department. I think by the time I left work, we were up to 6 bags of garbage, not to mention all the stuff we put into recycle!

On the way home from work I was very pleased to have "onstar" in my vehicle. As I pulled onto the street just before our home street and across from the high school, I noticed smoke building on the walking trail across from the school. Realized that there was a bush fire just beginning and it was building fast due to the dry underbrush. Dialed 911 from my vehicle and reported the fire...thankfully, I was not the only person that had called it in. Fire trucks were being dispatched. What was most concerning was that school had just let out, so lots of kids around and heavy traffic in the area, plus the fact that there are several homes just feet from the fire. Most likely started due to a careless cigarette.

My Blessings and Positives:

Made it through a marathon of 5 hour meetings.
Had a fun time with co-workers tossing things in our department....it's going to be nice to walk in there tomorrow and see all that has been accomplished.
OnStar in my vehicle.
Booked a hair appointment for next week...yay...I need one and had to cancel my one from last week as I inadvertantly booked it on the same day I had to go to Calgary!
Beautiful sunny day.
Awesome participation on Writing Wednesday...thank you for joining in the fun.

Thanks for stopping by. I love hearing about your day too!

What challenge did I rise to today: Getting up a 5 am and heading to a day of meetings with a positive attitude.
How did I shine today: Pitched right in with co-workers and made a large dent in the clean-up that was needed in our department. Lots of laughs and giggles as we discussed the merits of the items we were tossing!

Have an awesome evening.

Wanda, I'm so glad that you felt better yesterday morning... And wow sounds like you got so much accomplished... It will be nice to go in to work for sure.

And what a blessing that you were able to call for help on that fire...
It's amazing how far we have come with our Onstar and cell phones.
I heard an elderly man in the restaurant yesterday morning saying... what did we do before cell phones... and they all giggled... Makes you think just how far we have come...

Have a wonderful day my friend... oh and SMILE...

Wanda, glad you're feeling better! Yuck. Meetings...hahahaha...I spend my life in them!

For me, that is the blessing of cell phones and Onstar...being able to call for help if it is needed...and not just for ourselves but for others...

Now...you've inspired me to start cleaning things at work...especially since we may move...IF we stay in business...

I'm not feeling so good ....

Tuesday, June 02, 2009

I'm not feeling so good this afternoon healthwise...I've got a bad headache and am a tad nauseous. I'm not complaining really, as it is a result of the insurance people coming in and finally finishing off the door frames and baseboards in the basement. I neglected to let them know that I'm allergic to chemical fumes, so when I arrived home from work...my house STINKS! The plus side...it looks real good and now we can actually move the furniture that belongs in the basement back down and Shy can start to put her bedroom back together. We made a start on it on the weekend, but ended up finishing another project instead! lol.

Tomorrow will be a long day at work as we are in meetings all day, so I will take a tylenol before heading to bed and claiming perfect health when I wake up. As I don't tolerant medicines well, I have to wait until bedtime to take a tylenol as I will get one of two reactions...either a close relationship with the toilet bowl about 10 minutes after taking the pill or it knocks me out. I'm asking my angels for the knock out!

Positives in my day.
Feeling unwell gives me such an appreciate for those who deal with illness on a daily basis. As a rule, I'm very healthy...no meds, no illnesses.
My basement is looking great and once insurance replaces the pieces of furniture we lost...I'll be ecstatic.
A beautiful sunny day and a new deck to enjoy it on after work.
Next reno project is falling into place...my kitchen!
Talking to Kaeli on the phone last night. Prayers would be appreciated for her quick and safe delivery of all her furniture and things from Vancouver. She has had them in storage for almost two years.
Quin, bless his heart, put up the closet organizer in Shy's closet for her today.
Garry who puts up with me!
God who loves me unconditionally and has been teaching me to love me too!

I was asked the questions "To what challenge will you 'rise' today? and How will you 'shine' today?"

I'm going to answer these questions in my blog, I limit the amount of time I spend on my computer once I'm home as I need time for my family and to exercise. Besides I work 100% of my time at work on the computer and frankly by the time I get home...I'm tired of the computer screen! lol

What Challenge did I rise to today....reminding myself that I am not perfect, I am only one person...although I am valuable...I can not do it all!

How will I shine....I focus each day on cultivating an attitude of gratitude and when I come across any negatives...I look for the positive in it. Everything that happens is an opportunity to learn and grow...I aim to grow inot the spiritual being I know God created me to be.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you Ramona for posing this questions for me. I'm always happy to participate...I just have to find ways that work for me.

Hope you're feeling better! I had to take a couple of aspirin in the middle of the night for gardening aches & pains - doesn't happen often but when it does and I remember that pills exist and can help, then I'll go to the medicine cabinet. Hope you have a good day. emoticon

Tomorrow is a new day and you will feel good.

Good Luck with your busy schedule tomorrow.

Hey there, energizer bunny! I'm sorry you're not feeling so hot... sounds like we have a few things in common body-wise... I'd probably have to sleep at the neighbours!

I can really appreciate your positives today... not so much in specifics, but in intention. My favourite... "God who loves me unconditionally and has been teaching me to love me too!" AMEN.

And I am all for people finding and doing what works for them first... what would be the point otherwise? We'd all be running around living someone else's life, and completely missing the opportunity to be who we are each created to be! Only once I am reinforcing who I'm supposed to be do I endeavor to share that in the off chance that someone else might benefit.

I also mightily respect anyone who manages to strike a balanced chord in their life... and even more so people who put their family ahead of all else! I don't think you'd get so much done in a day, if you hadn't already figured a lot of this out. I 'm still struggling to get the balance right.

As for the the computer and teams, I too am very selective about how/when I participate. I follow very few threads, and I rely mostly on my blog and page to connect with people. What helps me is that I will often blog and then just cut and paste my musings in to a post on whatever team to whom the information is relevant... great rising and shining, by the way... the whole 'perfectionism' monster reared it's ugly head on the Bootcamp thread today, and was subsequently vanquished... so you're right ion step!

You just keep on being your own inimitable self! It will always be enough!

{{{{{{{{{{ HUGS }}}}}}}}}

You just keep on

WANDA, hope the headache angels bring you rest this eve from the Tylenol! The reno is sounding so great...hope we get to see photos!

Meetings - ugh. I had one of those today...tho' it was somewhat productive - that doesn't happen too often in health care. Usually it's just people who want to hear themselves talk...I love asking the question before the meeting ends, "Okay. So what action steps are there for us?" Reaction is worth asking!
emoticon is me.

Blessings and a restful sleep this night,
