You would think I'd had enough....

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

I'm at it again. I stopped at the hardware store after taking my son to work today and picked out a new paint color. The new cork floors were crying out for some warmer tones to go with them. I chose a paint "lotus Flower" it a very pale cream color and goes very well with the harbor mist color that we have up and will great in the half bath. I like the green I painted it, but no one else does...tired of hearing their remarks, so I'll paint it again. lol

A very busy day at work today, I have to go in tomorrow morning at 5:30 am as I have too many things that need to be done before I leave on some days off. I had my day all figured out and then just before I was leaving today our supervisor announced that we were having a staff meeting tomorrow morning and to be prepared for a long session. She has booked the committee room from 9:30 to 12:30. There went my schedule...in order to accomplish all that must be done, I'm going to have to go to work early. I was supposed to be off at noon, but sounds like that might not happen. Oh well, I will have until the 20th off and then possible even that day. There is going to be some glueing going on the 19th when some new carpet is being laid at work. Our director came to let me know that if when I get back to work on the 20th and the fumes are still not good for me, that I have permission to gather up some work and head home to work. Bless her heart.

My Positives:

Only one more sleep until I have some holiday time.
Cork flooring is done and looking great.
New paint color chosen.
My outdoor garden has moved indoors due to cold weather, but now my house looks very bright and cheery with all those plants.
God who is so good to this family.

Thanks for stopping by and for being my inspiration.

Hugs,
Wanda

Just catching up on Wanda World. Paint-aholic. New term invented for your condition. Should have gone yellow. Yellow aids in "digestion". Love you have a great day.

May 10...Mother's Day and wonderful

Sunday, May 10, 2009

My Mother's day has been wonderful, very busy, lots of love, laughter and fun.

I had the opportunity to spend some quiet time this morning before the family rolled out of bed. Received some very funny cards, hugs and giggles.

Two phone calls from my son, first one, I was at the store and missed so he left a message and second one we got to talk. It was great that he even remembered that it was Mother's Day...he's away fishing with friends.

My girls made me an incredible supper....my favorite food...a mexican style salad that rivaled my favorite restaurant's Burrito in a bowl...It was so delicious.

Now what did I actually do today:
-went to the store to purchase 4 more bags of organic potting dirt.
-got my container gardening underway. I added more plants. Planted zuchinni, carrots, green onions, green pepper plant, two roma tomato plants, dill, two begonias and I have enough dirt left over to consider one more container veggie! My sincere thank you to our team mates who have inspired me to try again to grow a mini garden of fresh veggies (yes, I did toss in a couple of begonias for beauty!)
-sanded my cedar patio table and gave it three coats of oil...all ready now for the summer.
-spent some time sitting on my deck admiring all my handy work! lol
-got invited over to the neighbors for some ice cold lemonade and a visit. Came away with an invitation to help ourselves to a stack of cement slabs that they no longer required and were going to have to depose of....we'll use them as a walk path.
-Garry repaired and painted my laundry area...all baseboards are removed in preparation for the new cork flooring to go in. I then swept and washed all the floors...just didn't want to have new flooring laid over dirty floors...my mind wasn't even wanting to go there.
-I had a fabulous day...hope everyone else did too.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you for all the inspiration I receive.

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad your Mother's Day was a good one ...

and Wowee - you've gotten oodles of gardening done. Coddle your tomato plant if there's cold weather during evenings. They like warmth. I'm going to be putting in some squash seeds soon. I'm waiting until the 22-24th to put my plants in the ground - I won't have my weeding done until then. I also have a roof garden I want to do a little something with too ... and bags of dirt in my car to haul up there! Good exercise! emoticon

What a busy day!

Saturday, May 09, 2009

Yay, it's a Saturday, so I didn't crawl out of bed until 7 am...that's two hours of sleeping in for me!

Headed to the computer to check in with everyone, feeling light hearted and full of song, so figured it was a good day to have a "singing Saturday"!

Once that was all done, I headed for my monthly tune-up massage. Today's was very painful as I needed a lot of deep tissue work on my right shoulder. My upper spine and neck have been feeling lots of stress. Mostly due to the amount of computer work I've been tackling lately at work. Feeling better now though. Bless Wendy's magic fingers!

Home again after stopping at the store to purchase two more large bags of "Miracle Grow" dirt. Found some seeds for carrots, zuchinni, and red peppers that are supposed to be perfect for growing in pots. I've been very inspired this year to try again to grow some fresh veggies in containers on my deck. I have some roma tomato plants that the greenhouse assured me were great container plants, a green pepper and some romaine lettuce plants. So with all my plants and seeds, I headed out on the deck and assembled some pots and my dirt and had a fun day. Now if the weather just cooperates and the sun shines as needed...I hope to be eating some fresh veggies this summer.

When Garry got home, we disassembled the old vanity and toilet in the half bath and install the vanity portion of the new vanity. The toilet we will install once the new flooring has been laid on Monday and we will install the vanity sink/counter we it arrives sometime after the 12th. I am so excited about my floors finally going in the entryways/laundry area and half bath. I will be estatic when the floors go in my kitchen also...they have to wait until the new kitchen goes in though. In the meantime, Garry is looking forward to finally getting the deck extended this summer. This is the year for major renos! lol.

My positives:
Talked to Nancy today...caught her in the produce aisle shopping for veggies...way to go Nancy!
Half bathroom all ready now for the flooring.
New floors on Monday! YAY!
Some containers seeded and planted...still more to do.
Got my big tree transplanted into a new pot and it is loving being outside again.
Mother's day tomorrow and the girls are cooking.
So many blessings in my life that help to keep me focusing on the positives.

Thanks for stopping by to say hello.

Have a wonderful Mothers Day tomorrow.

Hugs,
Wanda

Thanks for the call. What a boost you gave me. It was like a surfer dude that caught a killer wave and had a terrific ride. Totally tubular!
Sounds like your day was very productive! I owe you a song. I'll see what I can find.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day.
Lots of blessings to you!

So I was whining this morning....

Thursday, May 07, 2009

Thank you to all of you who have responded to my frustrated post this morning...it was a moment in time for me and I just voiced what was inside. I'm really all better now and apologize if I made anyone feel bad...was not my intention. Like all of you, I find this team my rock. The positiveness keeps me going and even if only one person participates in the challenges...I will still keep on doing them, because I believe they are important. Besides when I try to not do them, I get nudged very purposely by my guides...this is what I am meant to be doing at this time in my life...life goes along much more smoothly when I am obedient to God's voice. lol

So thank you for all your support and encouragement.

It's been a very busy time at work, I've been putting in 9 hour days with having to eat my lunch at my desk while I keep on working. I am so looking forward to having some time off next week. I found out today that I also need to take Monday off as the person that was supposed to be here tomorrow to start on our floors can't come until Monday now. Garry had tomorrow off work and isn't able to get Monday off. I will be working from home though.
The positive about the delay in the flooring....I don't have to help to tear out the old vanity in the half bath and the toilet tonight, or move the washer and dryer from the laundry room or the many other little tasks like removing baseboards and numbering them so we know where to put them back before tomorrow morning. I have all weekend now to help Garry with these tasks. I even get to make sure all the laundry is done as I will not have my machines back in operation for a couple of days after the flooring is laid as we have some added renos to do to the laundry area.

My positives:

The support and encouragement I receive from so many on this team...thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for allowing me to be human and whine once in awhile!
Time to complete all the necessary tasks before the new flooring goes in.
Only an 8.5 hour day today at work...woo hoo.
It's almost Friday and the weekend....sleeeppppzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
God, who when I turn things over to Him because I can no longer do it all by myself, lifts me up and provides me with time and energy and a fresh outlook. Thank You.

Thanks for stopping by, positive really does change your outlook. I had a wonderful day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Have you seen my blog today ... it's about 4 lines long (either that or I might have started to say what I was feeling too ... ) heheh

We all get to take a deep breath and relax even more on days like this! Glad to know you're feeling better.

I am too - I decided to not let it get to me and I flew out the door after I put a scarf on my head so I'd get my walk in before the sun went down (after I'd decided there was no way I was going out for my walk today)

    Wanda...

All I can say is (((HUGS))) my friend... You can whine all you need to and get frustrated too... Just like the rest of us...
All I know is that it is very hard to stay positive when I've had so much negative in my life lately... But I am slowly trying to climb out and find something positive...
It may not mean much... But, you have always been my shining positive STAR... Always shining bright... Leading and lighting the way for "when" I can follow...

Thank you for all that you do for the Positive Bloggers team and for me...

Thank you for sharing your positives.

YAY! Much needed Rain!

Wednesday, May 06, 2009

Finally late this afternoon we started to get some much needed rain. We have an out of control fire just north of us. It has increased in size from yesterday burning just over 3000 hectacres to now almost tripled in size. Several small communities have been mandatorially evacuated and we are breathing in smoke fumes here where we live. The ground is remarkably dry and much of the area that is under fire is muskeg, which means the fire goes underground and bursts up again where ever. Some homes have been lost. Your prayers are appreciated for those directly affected by the fire. The rain that is making it's was through is not a drenching type, but wet none the less. Unfortunately it also contains lightning.
The weather forecasts are predicting rain for the next several days...a welcome. I will miss the sunshine...but the ground really needs moisture in many areas.

My positives:
Our kitchen design is even better than we had hoped for. We have a very odd shaped and poorly designed kitchen at present that only allows one person to really work in it comfortable. The new design adds an island which will house my sink and dishwasher...giving me more actual counterspace. Not sure when it will all come into place...I'm believing that the money will be there for it when we need it.
My cork flooring for the entryways/laundry area and half bath are being put in on Friday. I get to come home from work to some new floors! We will wait on the kitchen flooring until we get the kitchen in.
My replacement carpets for the basement should be here by the long weekend and hopefully installed shortly there after. It will be nice to get the bedrooms in the basement all put back together after the flood.
Rain, blessed rain.
I've been putting in some very long hours at work lately...the light at the end of the tunnel...I will have some days off from the 14 to the 20th. We were hoping to get away to see family...but not sure if we can now...but the days off will be nice regardless.
God, who is teaching me to dream and go for it.

Thank you for stopping by to share some of my day with me. May your eveing be a peaceful and relaxing one.

Hugs,
Wanda

Your neck of the woods really seems to get extreme weather ... wow ... hope it's just the transformation to spring/summer thats causing all the ruckus and that it is over for everyone out your way very soon. Our weather was supposed to be warm yesterday but it was a lot cooler than anticipated - which was great because I was able to garden without too much sweating. It really does look like a 2 ton gopher has been let loose in my allotment right now - heheh. It's embarrassing. But it's the way I work. Oh there's big weed - go get it - attack ... etc. emoticon

I am so glad to know you are going to enjoy some gardening. It is such a bright spot in my life. This year, I am going to try throwing a few sprouting potatoes into a bag of dirt to see what happens ... basically I just went to our local store and got some that had started to sprout and I'm putting a little dirt into a bag (with holes) to cover them ... when the vine begins to grow I'll cover it some more and then some more and some more, etc ... at the end of the summer I am told there will be a bag of potatoes! My friend just told me she'd been storing her sprouting potatoes upstairs in her storage room and she noticed she's got 8 little potatoes growing!

Your kitchen sounds great. emoticon

I hope those fires get under control. You have been BUSY! All the home improvements! You are doing a lot! And keeping a lagging team going to boot! I am happy to "see" you again. Sorry that I have been gone so long. I hope to be able to pitch in and give you a hand. I read your status "I'm tired and am going to bed." Good choice. Got to keep your energy up for your busy schedule. Thanks for all that you do to keep the Positive Bloggers afloat. Just need to let you know that your work is appreciated.

Wanda, So happy that you are getting that rain. I hope that it is enough to help with the fires. We are so dry too and no rain in sight... But no fires either...

Woo Hoo on all your positives... Lots of good things happening...

I've been meaning to blog but have had company and been busy... But wanted to share that BIL is on his way out of Florida... Left yesterday... YIPPEE... I'm praying that all the negatives go with him... lol

Enjoy that time off when it gets here...
