I'm blogging first thing this morning, going to make sure I get my blog in, I will possibly add to it at the end of the day.

It's -8 out this morning...I will be gratefully accepting any and all sunshine ! lol.

I'm heading out the door early for work this morning. I have so much to do at work that it's almost overwhelming...but I have said a prayer and asked God to provide me with all the time that I need to accomplish all that must be done today. I know He will provide.

Check out "time Tuesday"....by accepting today's challenge, you'll be blessed.

My Positives:
I had a great sleep last night...the first in many nights.
Peace within my spirit.
Time to accomplish all that needs to be done.
God who answers prayer and shows me what is important.
Friends who encourage and support me.
My family.
and most importantly...another day to be creative.

Have a wonderful day,

My positives.

Yippee! it's Saturday

Saturday, April 25, 2009

This has been a long and exhausting week. With being at work earlier than usual every day this week, running back home to be here for repairmen and then working from home until my work day ended and trying to stay on top of all the decisions that had to be made, I'm definitely ready for the weekend.
Not complaining, because I've been blessed with be able to continue to work from home, you justdont't have everything at your finger tips, then our phones went out, which meant relying on email with the office to get certain things completed. It's been a crazy week.

Yesterday the person doing all the repairs to the walls finished, he even painted the walls, which at some point I will need to repaint as he used the standard "pinky beige" that homebuilders use...it's really not a nice color...but at least the walls are finished and look nice and clean. After work Garry and I headed to the city to place our order for the new carpet. Blessing...we will be able to have the same carpet throughout the basement instead of different types and colors. We chose a "carmel" color (that's Garry's name for it) It's actually called "brass". Eventually the walls will be a cream color, so it should look very nice.
Today we are going to see if we can find the same or similar replacement furniture and then let the insurance company know. Things look good for being returned to normal around here by mid May at the latest.

I woke up to snow again yesterday morning and we are supposed to get more yet again on Sunday. Temperatures have dropped down to below zero again. Next week is warmer though, so am hanging onto the thought of warmer weather and sunshine. Anyone want to trade weather systems?????

My postives:
Things are progressing repair wise at the house.
Being able to take off from work and continue to work from home.
Understanding co-workers and bosses.
Choosing new carpets and color.
Knowing that the chaos in my house is only temporary.
God who teaches me patience and tolerance.

Have a wonderfully blessed weekend. It's silly Saturday, so share some humor and thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Wanda, no way I do not want to exchange our rain for your snow, had enough of that stuff, lol. But will try and send warmer air your way, I'll think it towards your direction. Sounds like things are coming right along with the repairs. You are doing such a good job of staying postive through all this. Have a blessed Sunday and a good week.

I don't want to trade weather systems - but - it was so hot here this afternoon I could barely work in the heat! Hard to believe after such a cold winter. I hope you get some of this very soon. I got out of the garden just on time ... there was such a thunderstorm that it felt like a hurricane! Lucky for me because I brought half the house with me not knowing what I'd need and what i didn't (of course I forgot some crucial things) ... I made a list of what not to bring and some things I really do need.

From the sounds of it you'll have some nice new things soon ... maybe in the end it will be even more positive than you thought? Hope so.

Things are moving right along...

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Went to work early this morning as I knew that I would need to leave when the repair person called me to let me know that he was ready to do the gyprocking repair at the house. I worked until 9 am at the office and then came home and spent the rest of the day until 2:30 working from home and entering orders. I'm so blessed that my work okayed our office program to be installed on my home computer. The initially reasoning was so that I could still continue to work when there were repairs and chemical fumes going on at work. Today was a bonus. I managed to get three large orders completed and sent on their way.
The gyprock repair man was able to work all day and replace the sheeting that had been cut away due to the flood. First coat of mud is on and he will call me again tomorrow at work if he is able to come tomorrow to check on it and perhaps put on a second coat.
The carpet people are coming tomorrow at 3pm to measure the basement so they can install the new carpet. Yippee! I get to choose colors and kind! Woo Hoo!
The repair man from today, also told me that he would be painting the one bedroom completely seeing as all four walls had repair work done to them. Bonus!

The basement is dried out and if things continue to move along at this speed we should be able to move things back into place by mid May.

My positives:

Marla is back! Huge bonus!
Repair work coming along wonderfully.
New carpet and I get to choose color and kind.
No snow (yet). It's been predicted, but I'm very hopeful that it won't appear.
God who continues to bless us so immensely.

Thank you to all who stop by and leave such encouraging comments. I really appreciate all of you.

Wanda - I didn't realize how dire the basement issues were - you have been so positive. What a blessing that you can incorporate work into your home repairs now. It sounds like it will be great fun choosing flooring & carpet colours!

Wanda, it does sound like things are moving right along. Thank goodness! And you were able to get some work done too! I had to come home today for the piano tuner, but will have to take vacation time -- no working from home for me, unfortunately. I'm so glad you are able to see things take shape in your basement and make some positive choices about what you want done. WooHoo! Kathleen

An expensive day...

Monday, April 20, 2009

The insurance adjustor came today to evaluate whether or not we would be covered by insurance for our flooded basement this past weekend.
On one hand, how wonderful that we do have insurance and that the flooding is covered. On the other hand our deductable is a thousand dollars! Money we hadn't counted on having to put out right at the moment, especially with the fact that we committed to some new flooring.
I know that it will all work out in the end and for that I am grateful. The cost of repairs to the basement far exceed the thousand dollars we have to pay out.
So instead of moaning and groaning about the situation, I will be thankful and happy that we do have coverage, that we did not lose anything that is not replaceable, that we do not have to find and hire contractors to come in to do the repairs(insurance takes care of that), that the insurance gives us a life time warranty on the repairs being done. Yes we do have some minor inconveniences, seeing as both Shy and Q are basically without bedrooms at the moment and possibly for the next couple of weeks. Plus side, we have a home big enough that there is floor space to toss their mattresses down on for them to sleep.
This is a growing opportunity for all of us, we can adjust and count our blessings from this bump in the road.

It's back to work for me tomorrow...bonus part is that I now have things set up on my home computer, so that I can work from home when the repair people are here to do the repairs. Garry will not need to take the day off work, and in essence, neither will I!

My Positives:
- a beautiful day, even if it was a bit cloudy.
- insurance will cover all the damage.
- Finances will work out so that we can easily pay for the deductable.
- I can still make positive affirmtions and mean them.
- I see my glass as being half full not half empty. In fact, I would say my glass is only slightly less that completely full!
- Shy is making supper while I catch up on the computer...she is such a great person.
- our basement is almost dried out now, only one damp spot that I can see.
- God who allows trials and bumps in the road so that I have the opportunity to grow and learn.
- friends who encourage and support my in my walk.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderfully blessed evening.

PS Tomorrow is Talking Tuesday....check in with others on SP and offer an encouraging word, chat with those around you and keep a smile on your face as a sign of encouragment.

It is so refreshing to hear all the positives under such dire circumstances. Camping out and letting the thousand dollars go are big things but you've chosen to not let it affect your outlook and enjoyment of life - this is big and it certainly has its own important rewards.

I love how you thought of so many positives. I tend to get overwhelmed with home repair issues, and financial issues, but there is always a silver lining. Hurray for insurance! And good luck getting your basement back together. Have a great week, Kathleen
