Okay,so the puddle wasn't quite this big, but it came close!
My wonderful silly story of how I fought the Puddle and the Puddle won. Thought I would share it today as it is Silly Saturday.
....back one day in time..... Friday
We had a major dump of snow first thing in the morning, but by mid afternoon the sun had come out and the temperatures had warmed up to a beautiful plus 5. The sun in turn, had melted much of the newly fallen snow, but due to the already accumulated snow pack it left all this lovely water on top of everywhere.
I had to stop at the bank after work to do some banking business. When I parked, the only spot to park was next to a fair size puddle, but there was room to walk around it so I wasn't too concerned about getting my feet wet.
When I came out, the spot next to me was taken so it meant that I could no longer walk around the puddle, but I figured I could at least edge around it without getting my feet wet.
Now picture this...a lovely muddy puddle approximately 8 feet long and about 3 feet wide, it didn't look particularly deep, it did however, look a little daunting as I tried to figure out how I was going to get to my vehicle without stepping into it. Well, I gingerly edged my way around the edges of the puddle and the other vehicles parked in the parking lot. Carefully stepping on spots that appeared to have the least amount of water accumulation. I was just about even with the back of my vehicle when I knew I was going to have to actually step in the puddle to get to the driver's side. So carefully lifting my foot, I made that step into the puddle...not only was that puddle about 4 inches deep...there was ice on the bottom of it and down I went. Smacked my right knee and landed on my left elbow, just barely managing to keep my face out of the puddle. Now I'm sure that the security cameras that they always have at banks captured some great footage! There I was half lying on my left side in a big puddle trying to figure out how I was going to stand back up, a throbing knee on the right side, my purse still clenched in my left hand and my mind saying " oh crap!, God I hope no one saw this! lol.
Luckily I was heading home before having to go and get Shy from work. The other plus...the seats on my vehicle are leather...so no damage from the lovely wet squelchy clothes, that were litterly dripping and my laundry area is close to the back entry of my house. I was able to strip and throw shoes and all into the washer and not drip water all through my house. Yep, it has been a great day! lol.
The other big plus.... I realized while sitting on the couch with an ice pack on my knee, just how far I have come physically and mentally in the past year. A year ago if this had happened...I would have been mortified, embarassed and mentally calling myself all kinds of rude names. Due in part to much lower self-esteem, less self love and more weight. Today...I am able to look back on the incident and actually see the humor in it and realize just how far I have come, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Life is good!
I have however, had a chat with my angels and expressed to them, that the next time they would like me to come to a realization.....could they leave the puddle out of it! I have this mental vision of them all stand there smiling and chuckling, perhaps even going to far as to actually laughing out loud!
Fast forward to today....
I'm doing fine, the knee enjoyed a restful night. Although a tiny bit of black and blue is beginning to show, I'm none the worse for my confrontation with an icy puddle. My clothes are all nicely clean, my shoes have now dryed out from their stint in the puddle and then the washer and I'm planning on a walk at some point today.
What a great feeling to realize and be able to see the growth that has taken place and the weight is being eliminated and the positive attitude being developed.
Have a fabulous and wonderful Silly Saturday...keep on smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to.
