April 02

Thursday, April 02, 2009

Thank you Kathy for the sunshine you've been sending...it's much appreciated, now I'm not sure who the culprit was that sent all the snow flurries this afternoon...but you were a day late....yesterday was April Fool's Day! lol.

Thankfully the snow flurries only lasted a couple of hours and the snow doesn't appear to be thinking of staying around.

My take out Thursday consisted of :

Taking my son to work in the city when I got home from work. I will be doing that for the next month as the bus schedule from here to the city doesn't work with the hours when he has to be at work.
Taking Shy after work to the store.
Taking out frozen veggies and pasta from the freezer and preparing a yummy supper.
Taking the dishes out of the dishwasher, apparently, I am the only person that knows how to do that in our home! lol.
Taking out some new books from the library.....yay! more reading material.
and lastly....Taking out the dictionary to see what challenge I can come up with for tomorrow!

My day was fabulous, hope yours was too!

Wanda, I just read your "puddle" blog! Oh my goodness! It sounded like the fall I took in Walmart a month ago. I guess someone had spilled something in the aisle and I hadn't even looked down to see it, so me in my flip flops went down SPLAT! And here you were being so careful around the puddle! Go figure!

My Abraham workshop is right here in Mesa, Az which is a suburb of Phoenix. Esther and Jerry Hicks have a home in Del Mar, Ca, so they make it to Phoenix about twice a year. It's only a 5 hour drive from there to Phoenix. I appreciate my income tax return which is enabling me to attend.

Have a wonderful weekend! Arizona sends you sunshine and warmth!

I am cautiously optimistic....

Wednesday, April 01, 2009

I'm cautiously optimistic that "Spring" is here! We did have some snow last night, but only a dusting, so with the sun coming out today...that new batch of snow has departed. I can actually see some grass around the edges of our front yard...the huge snowpile is now only about 2 feet in height!. The birds have moved into our cedar tree at the front of the house and are busy making lots of noise and driving my cat to distraction!

We may not see flowers for a few weeks, but watching all that snow melt is a thrill.

Our tech guy from work came home with me today and installed our Horizon software program on my computer. Now I can work from home when ever the need arises. There is going to be some installing of carpet and gluing going on in the next 10 days or so at work...which means that I won't be able to work due to the fumes..now I don't have to use up my holiday time...I just work from home.

My positives:
Very little snow overnight.
Sunshine and melting today.
Horizon installed on my computer at home.
Month end complete at work.
I won a "timmy's roll up the rim coffee" (it's a big deal in Canada!lol)
A wonderfully supportive and encouraging team.
God who blesses my day and supplies all my needs.

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful evening. Tomorrow is Thoughtful Thursday revamped! It's "TAKE-OUT" Thursday. Stop by the challenge to see what's up.

Just trying to help that snow melt a little faster.... Can't wait to hear your waves (trees blowing in the wind) lol You always seem to enjoy that so much...
Hope that happens soon for you...

Great news that you can work at home instead of taking a vacation day... Good planning... Glad that they let you do that...

Have a wonderful Take Out Thursday my friend...

I bet your getting tired of the snow and ice and floods and such, and I know my daughter is as well. I woke up to rain mixed with snow this morning after a beautiful sunny day yesterday. You will enjoy watching those flowering buds come to life, I know I do every spring. Enjoy !! Lindie

Glad the snow is starting to melt away and the birds are beginning to gather. We are struggling to get to 50 and next week they are saying 2-4 inches of snow and 60 mile an hour winds, I guess winter just doesn't want to let go. Glad your computer is set so you can work from home. Mixing things up a bit, that should be interesting. Have a good evening.

March 30....wow, the end of another month!

Monday, March 30, 2009

I'm so excited...we are at the end of another month...why am I excited you might ask.
Well, the end of another month, means the beginning and starting afresh in a new month. The end of March...means we are heading into spring...even though we have officially been spring for a couple of weeks...here in the land of never ending snow...that hasn't been the case. For the past few days...we have had melting and sunshine...but ....and that is a big BUT....we are predicated to have possible snow flurries tomorrow and Wednesday! So to my way of thinking...April is just a great sounding month all the way around...it is one month closer to actual summer!
My positives for today...yep I found them!

Sunshine, beautiful sunshine!
I did not go wading into any icy cold puddles!
It's month end and I am planning a on a great April.
I've reasserted my affirmations and am excited about what I am claiming.
I've got some wonderful books to read again.
My income tax return came today...yippee...just in time to pay a bill that is due tomorrow! I love how God always provides for my needs.
I'm way below in my calorie range today...so I will have room for a treat this evening.
I've been busy de-cluttering and making room for new positive energy...and I feel the difference already.
Being motivated and once again excited about the direction my life is going.

Thank you for stopping by and spending a minute reading my blog...my wish for you is that you find the same excitement about your life as I have about mine.

this is my favourite time of year ... lots of anticipation of the warm weather (being in Portland where the weather is about a month or so ahead of Toronto, has given me a small taste of what is to come) ... it's the time of year where the pace has picked up and there doesn't seem like there's enough time in the day to do all we want ... things couldn't be better! AND your snow is melting ... emoticon

Someone at work asked me how I like Texas, and I found myself saying "I like it a lot." I do not miss the snow and cold. It was fine while I was there, but I have adjusted to this new climate and I'm finding myself quite happy here. Work is settling in quickly, because it's not all brand new stuff. A few adjustments, but nothing major.
I hope that you have made a full recovery from your fall. I think I have almost made a full recovery from my company. I'm struggling with keeping up the morning pages and work. I'll let you know when I get that figured out. But hey! I'm blogging. That's gotta count for something. I appreciate your faithful example and I'll committed to just plugging away at it. Phew. Have a great evening and it is good to "SEE" you.
Much Love,

I fought the puddle and the puddle won!

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Okay,so the puddle wasn't quite this big, but it came close!

My wonderful silly story of how I fought the Puddle and the Puddle won. Thought I would share it today as it is Silly Saturday.

....back one day in time..... Friday

We had a major dump of snow first thing in the morning, but by mid afternoon the sun had come out and the temperatures had warmed up to a beautiful plus 5. The sun in turn, had melted much of the newly fallen snow, but due to the already accumulated snow pack it left all this lovely water on top of everywhere.

I had to stop at the bank after work to do some banking business. When I parked, the only spot to park was next to a fair size puddle, but there was room to walk around it so I wasn't too concerned about getting my feet wet.

When I came out, the spot next to me was taken so it meant that I could no longer walk around the puddle, but I figured I could at least edge around it without getting my feet wet.

Now picture this...a lovely muddy puddle approximately 8 feet long and about 3 feet wide, it didn't look particularly deep, it did however, look a little daunting as I tried to figure out how I was going to get to my vehicle without stepping into it. Well, I gingerly edged my way around the edges of the puddle and the other vehicles parked in the parking lot. Carefully stepping on spots that appeared to have the least amount of water accumulation. I was just about even with the back of my vehicle when I knew I was going to have to actually step in the puddle to get to the driver's side. So carefully lifting my foot, I made that step into the puddle...not only was that puddle about 4 inches deep...there was ice on the bottom of it and down I went. Smacked my right knee and landed on my left elbow, just barely managing to keep my face out of the puddle. Now I'm sure that the security cameras that they always have at banks captured some great footage! There I was half lying on my left side in a big puddle trying to figure out how I was going to stand back up, a throbing knee on the right side, my purse still clenched in my left hand and my mind saying " oh crap!, God I hope no one saw this! lol.
Luckily I was heading home before having to go and get Shy from work. The other plus...the seats on my vehicle are leather...so no damage from the lovely wet squelchy clothes, that were litterly dripping and my laundry area is close to the back entry of my house. I was able to strip and throw shoes and all into the washer and not drip water all through my house. Yep, it has been a great day! lol.
The other big plus.... I realized while sitting on the couch with an ice pack on my knee, just how far I have come physically and mentally in the past year. A year ago if this had happened...I would have been mortified, embarassed and mentally calling myself all kinds of rude names. Due in part to much lower self-esteem, less self love and more weight. Today...I am able to look back on the incident and actually see the humor in it and realize just how far I have come, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Life is good!
I have however, had a chat with my angels and expressed to them, that the next time they would like me to come to a realization.....could they leave the puddle out of it! I have this mental vision of them all stand there smiling and chuckling, perhaps even going to far as to actually laughing out loud!

Fast forward to today....

I'm doing fine, the knee enjoyed a restful night. Although a tiny bit of black and blue is beginning to show, I'm none the worse for my confrontation with an icy puddle. My clothes are all nicely clean, my shoes have now dryed out from their stint in the puddle and then the washer and I'm planning on a walk at some point today.

What a great feeling to realize and be able to see the growth that has taken place and the weight is being eliminated and the positive attitude being developed.

Have a fabulous and wonderful Silly Saturday...keep on smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to.

Generally when I do something like that, and I do in the winter that's for sure, I kinda look around to see if anyone was watching. The worst part for me is when someone comes up to me and asks if I'm OK. But, on the other hand, if everyone just walked by, I'd wonder about that, too!

My gosh, you are SO lucky! I took a fall hard, like yours, about a year ago and landed right on the back of my head and spine (I bounced) in my driveway, at night. I managed to get back into the house but then I wondered...what if I had been knocked out? I could have froze to death and no one would have found me until morning. Boy, oh, boy, goes to show you that we really have to be careful.

Sending prayers your way that this never happens again and that you don't end up with a whopping, huge bruise!

Wanda - I am very glad to know you are okay. Your angels must have sent me to my garden allotment today so that I could see what I saw and then tell you another mud puddle story.

I was in my car driving carefully towards the gate to my allotment. I say carefully because there is an off-leash area just before the gardens. I noticed that the road was very wet and puddly ... very very muddy and when I came to this veritable lake on the dirt road I decided to back up and park & walk ... but there were at least 10 dogs that had all gotten away from their owners racing towards my car so I was unable to begin backing up. Before I knew it, all ten (or more) landed in the huge gooey mud puddle right in front of me and then - lo & behold - the big one rolled over in it - over & over - again & again - while the little ones leapt about it getting soaked with mud - and I had front row center seat and I was protected inside my car and all us humans out to enjoy such a glorious (albeit silly saturday) day got so covered in mud by happy jumping dogs of all sizes & wait it gets worse - they all then shook it off altogether as their owners rounded the corner of my car!

Next time we fall in a mud puddle - maybe we should just roll over in it and enjoy it for a little while - just like the big dog did! I never laughed so hard! There were well-dressed people without their own dogs running so fast from this whole pack of mud covered mutts they didn't recognize that they had no time to even be angry at them.

Deer in the headlights look is in!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

(not my eyes) This is what my eyes look like right now. All pupil, no color! lol.

Garry had to lead me from the clinic to the car and then into the house. I had forgotten my sunglasses at home and because of my eyes being so dilated I couldn't see. The sun shining on all the white snow was literally blinding!

I'm very pleased to say that I will be fine. I do have a condition on my retina (both eyes) called Drusens. Which technically is very early macular degeneration. The specialist feels that with carefully monitoring and taking Vitamin D and Omega 3 supplements that I should be able to prevent it from moving on to what is called Wet Macular Degeneration. My biggest concern was whether my working on a computer all day was a contributing factor and whether there were steps to take to prevent a worsening. Got my questions answered. Working on a computer is not an issue...I do need to take "eye breaks" and if my eyes feel dry to use drops a couple of times a day and to wear sunglasses whenever I am outside or in bright light. So Thank you Lord, for filling me with peace and helping me to remain focused on Your healing powers.

My positives:
Garry took time off work to drive me to my appointment and so very kindly did not lose me in a snowbank along the way back to the car! lol.
I was able to put in 4 hours of my work day at work and so did not lose much time.
GREAT news from the specialist.
The preventative steps are well within my control.
Although, I'm having a bit of difficulty at the moment seeing what I'm typing....I mostly type without looking at the keys anyway! So excuse any mistakes!
Sunshine...beautiful sunshine today...snow was predicted.
My appointment took almost 3 hours of mostly sitting and waiting...so managed to get some meditation time in. People probably thought I was sleeping...sure fooled them! lol
Life...it's just plaine wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wanda - my dad who is now 85 has wet macular degeneration ... he now goes for treatment every few months and this holds it at bay fortunately. He is still driving (maybe he shouldn't be). I am very interested to hear more about any of the preventative measures that can be taken because I think it is hereditary. My dad is a painter. So am I. I am always thankful for your blog visits. Take good care.
