Yet more snow!

Saturday, March 07, 2009

Woke up this morning to a white out and lots of snow. I'm beginning to think we have missed spring, summer, fall and we are right back into winter....anybody have some seasons they would like to share! lol.

We headed outside once the snow had stopped falling, it's actually rather nice and fresh outdoors. This is one side of our driveway.

This is the other side of the driveway.

This is the snowbank at the end of the driveway and by the main sidewalk. I can hardly lift the shovel high enough anymore to throw it over. The snowbank is taller than I am!

I'm thinking it will make a great fort, load myself down with plenty of snow balls and smack those junior high kids as they walk passed throwing their litter in our yard. No really, I wouldn't do that, cause it isn't all of them, most of them are very nice young people.

Side view of my "funky" (according to the girls) new glasses. I really like them. What a difference having the correct prescription makes! DUH! All the weight that I have eliminated so far has changed my prescription. I don't have the same type of pressure on my eyes from carrying all that weight and apparently it does make a difference. What a bonus! I'm thanking God daily for my new improved eyesight.

My positives:
It's stopped snowing for now!
Driveway and sidewalk are now cleared.
Two more loads of laundry done, only one to go
Garry volunteered to do the vacuuming for me. (I find it hard dragging the vacuum up and down 4 flights of stairs.(
So much positiveness on this team.
Great books to read this weekend....and one of them is The Artist's Way...thanks Bre and Nancy for the suggestion.

Have a wonderful silly Saturday...I'll be posting next weeks challenges a bit later, so stop by and see what you are being challenged to complete.

That's a lot of white stuff. Curvy temples on those groovy glasses! If the kids thing they are funky, then they certainly are. I did my check-in for week one today and I can wait until Monday to start in on week two. So we'll be "enrolled in the course" together. So far it has been very helpful. Had a busy day doing yardwork with the Mr. Raking the lawn. Southern version of snow-shovelling. I think that I am going to jump into the pool. It is right around 69 degrees. Since I come from the North, I am part Polar Bear and Humpback whale, so I think it will be fun. Have a great Saturday and I will check out your new challenges when you post them.

I'm sore.....

Thursday, March 05, 2009

This morning started off so great. I got up and started my exercises, then I looked out the window and oh my gosh! The wind was whipping the snow around so hard, at times you couldn't see across the street. It was hard to tell if it was actually snowing or if it was just snow in the air due to the wind. As I looked out on the sidewalk and the driveway, I knew I wasn't going anyway without some heavy shoveling happening first.
Such a change in the weather from yesterday...it was melting!
As I opened the garage door, all I could was groan....the snow had drifted in and up against the door to almost my waist! The only spot that there wasn't at least a foot of snow was under the one vehicle parked in the driveway. It took me almost an hour to shovel just the driveway. I had two lovely falls as I was shoveling due to all the melting taking place yesterday and now a frozen sheet of ice under all the snow. I'm sore! Not only from all the shoveling but on the last fall, I landed funny and gave my lower back a bit of a twist. As long as I'm moving...it's not too bad, but sitting for any time and it seems to stiffen up. Made for an interesting day at work! Garry bless his heart drove home from work at noon to shovel the driveway and sidewalk again so I wouldn't have to after work. I even broke my shovel this morning! The blade came right off in the snow...didn't realize how strong I've become. lol.

Anyway the back is nothing a good long soak in epsom salts and warm water won't cure. I'm sure there'll be more snow in the morning for me also. God bless Mother Nature and her willingness to help me burn calories (sorry, tongue in cheek!)

My Positives:
I burned lots of calories before even getting to work this morning.
Garry came home at noon to shovel some more.
Sun shine this afternoon, but colder than a deep freeze out there still.
Although my back is sore...I'm blessed that I have mobility and feeling.
Co-workers willing to scurry for the delivery door on my behalf today...my turtle pace allowed them lots of amusement.
Co-worker that was going to my favorite restaurant at lunch, brought me back a lovely Burrito in a bowl salad....yay healthy food and beat the soup I was going to have.
I won $2.00 on my lotto ticket....for me that is a big winning! lol.
God who loves me.

Thanks for stopping by....have a wonderful evening...I'm thinking that a relaxing evening on the sofa after a bath is in store for me tonight. I'll see you all tomorrow.

Wanda sorry about your back and falling is not fun, I'v taken a tumble or two. Well breaking the shovel should give winter a clue it's time to call it quits, for pete's sake. Take a long nice soak, when my muscles ache I like to take Tynol PM it sure helps with the aches and pain and helps me have a good night sleep. We got all the way up to 59 today.

If you take OTC drugs, some ibuprofen might help to relax the muscle and help the soreness from increasing. My husband and his family think falling is the absolute funniest thing on the planet.

You probably don't want to hear that it got up to 71 here today, but maybe it'll warm you up a little. *wink* We had 6 inches of snow Saturday through Sunday and today it's spring. I've had my window up in my office all day. The saying here in Tennessee goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute."

Hope your bath helps.

March.....I'M HERE!

Monday, March 02, 2009

Thought I would pretend to be a lion....isn't the saying March comes in like a lion but out like a lamb!

I'm out the door this evening for a spot of exercise...not sure what I've let myself be talked into...but I'm going with a positive attitude and trusting that my girls will carrying me home if need be. lol.

It's been a great day, because I am choosing it to be.
Nancy...hope your evening watching your son's performance is fantastic and that Tim really has the opportunity to see his son in action. Q was so delighted to have his Dad see him in action doing the job he loves...it's important that our sons get that recognition from their Dads.

My positives:
Sunshine today.
Invitation from my girls to go exercising with them.
Got all my water into me today...it's been a struggle lately...think it's because I've been trying to keep warm with the tea!
Supper is in the oven.
Productive day at work...my in basket is no longer teetering.
Each of you that stops by and leaves me messages...thank you for making my day.
God, who reminds me that I am precious in His sight, even when I don't see myself that way.

Have a fabulous evening....I'll see you all tomorrow. I'll be the one that is looking fine!

Feb 28

This is what the bulk of my day is involving. Between finishing off the laundry (being the nice mom that I am, doing my son's laundry!), picking up my new glasses, which I love! and finally in a emotionally space to finish clearing out all the personal papers belonging to my Mom.
My poor shredder has finally said "enough", I'm tired. It quit working due the heat exhaustion. lol. I've got everything else ready to go though as soon as the shredder cools down. I've emptied the container three times already and it's a big bucket!

Love my new glasses, I'll take a picture and then let the world see my new funky(daughters approved) glasses. I'll try to post it in a couple of days.

I've been really feeling good about all the de-cluttering that I've accomplished today. The task of finally getting rid of all the personal papers from my Mom(and some that I found from my Dad) has actually been very releasing for me. Getting rid of all the things that are no longer needed or important is freeing up room for new energy to come in, at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

My Positives:

Finally in a place where I can de-clutter items that have been too emotional to weed through.
New glasses....what a difference the weaker strength is making, my eyes are not stinging and burning now.
Laundry is complete!
Buggy plants have been disposed of. Really hated to put them outside, as it's hard for me to kill a living thing, but they have not responded to any treatments and the leaves have all been covered in little eggs about to hatch. So sad to see my apricot tomatoe plants that never even gave me one fruit hit the door, but spring is coming, I'll start some new plants.
Bathrooms are all cleaned as smell great.
Blogging is done for another day, still have to put together next weeks challenge, but it will happen, it always does.
Sunshine today....YAY!
Keeping my mission and vision centered in my life...believing it will happen as God deems the time is right.

Thanks for being my support and filling me with encouragment.

A lot of positive cleaning energy! It is so important that things don't hold you down. That's why is important to let go of all the things you don't need. I've been doing my best to keep up with my dust bunnies inside and out. It is important work in the Healthy Lifestyle. I am very proud of you (especially the clean smelling bathrooms. That's a biggy in my book!) Thank you for the "shining" example. Keep listening to that Spirit!

Wanda - I decluttered my Mom's long ago. I held on to a couple of her dresses, an apron, a hankie, some paperwork. I finally let it all go except the apron & hankie. I'll keep them always. I wear her apron around the holidays.

Good for you on decluttering your life! You rock! Can't wait to see your new specs! Love ya, Marla

Congratulations on your decluttering ... I'll be blogging about that all summer I fear! I have put it on my 'to do' list for then!

Are you growing tomatoes indoors? I am about to start my seedlings in a week or so. I planted my peppers a couple of weeks ago (I think they need longer to grow before being put into the garden).

I don't like cleaning the bathroom, but when I am all done I am always pleased with the fresh smell. Glad the new glasses are working for you, are you trendy now, will have to wait and see your picture with them on. Good job on the decluttering, that type is never easy to do, but needs to be done. Those little bugs won't last long in-27 temps. We were cool today, but blessed with blue skies and sunshine. Have a wonderful serene Sunday.

Sounds like you have done a great job of De-cluttering... just by doing that it De-stresses you... lol

Sorry to hear about your apricot tomatoe plants... but you don't want them hatching bugs in the house for sure... Who knows... by sitting them outside maybe it will kill off the bugs and bring the plants back to life... lol Yea I know... Not in -37 weather... lol Oh wait did you say you had some sunshine? lol Well there you have it... lol

Enjoy your day my friend... Thanks for sharing your positives... I really needed some of them today... There has been a lot of Negativity lurking around and it's so draining... so I'm here for my Positive SHOT... hee hee

Thanks I can always count on you...

It's funny that you have sunshine today and we have SNOW! emoticon The ground is starting to get covered. It is so pretty and suits my somewhat dreary mood. I hope we get several inches.

I've caught up on some laundry today too. Only have one load left to do. I'm proud of myself for staying on top of it.

I'm sorry about your parents. I'm sure they wouldn't want you hanging on to all of their old papers. I often think about what people would have to sort through if I left this earth. Going through their paperwork gives you the opportunity to reflect on them. It's hard for me to declutter some things because of the memories wrapped up in the items, but I remind myself that the item isn't the person or the memory and let it go to make room for other blessings and memories flow in.

Can't wait to see your new glasses.

Hope you have a serene Sunday.

Fabulous Friday and I'm so glad it is!

Friday, February 27, 2009

I was running late this morning, so my apologies for not kicking things off first thing this morning. The plus side of running late....you all stepped up to the plate and got it going anyway....yay team!

Much warmer out today...only -26 this morning and by this afternoon it has warmed up to a lovely -12. So nice out, you didn't even have to do up your jacket! lol. We northerners are a tough bunch lol.

It's Friday.
The Positive Bloggers team.
Followed my inner guidance and dropped of a thank you card to the ladies that serve me my steamed milk...wanted them to know how much their smiling faces and cheerful service has meant.
Shy, who is such a blessing from God.
Two loads of laundry already done.
I'm still exercising every day.
I've quit being concerned about the numbers on the scale...I now concentrate on just eating and being healthy. Boy how far I have come.
I'm learning to keep my vision and mission ever present in my mind.
I'm learning how to live in awareness.
I'm proud of who I am becoming spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Thanks for being a blessing in my life,
Have a wonderful evening,
