YAY, YIPPEE, it's the last work day until January 5th. A very long, very busy day. Didn't even have chance to have a lunch break, grabbed a banana and my rice crackers and ate them at my desk while plugging away at finishing off orders.

All orders sent, supply order ready to be sent by a co-worker on Monday. Safety hazard identification report completed. The required giggles and laughs with co-workers accomplished. Yep, a good day.
Worked from 6am until 4pm today. Even got a round of snow shoveling in this morning before leaving for work!

My positives:
This team that continually offers me support and encouragement.
Shy's birthday supper a success.
It's the weekend and then 2 weeks of holidays to follow.
Almost completed my Christmas to do list.
Kaeli baked some nutmeg logs today, what a nice treat that was.
I woke up this morning on this side of the grass....always a plus!
Spark friends whom I hope will accept this thank you for sending me such thoughtful goodies. I'm sorry for not responding more quickly. The past few days have been very busy.

Tomorrow is Silly Saturday...there must be some sillies to share. Let's reduce stress by sharing a laugh or two.

Today was our department staff Christmas lunch. We went to a little place called "Taste of Vietnam". I was somewhat apprehensive about going as I usually find Asian dishes filled with all kinds of meat, oils and quite often deep fried. I was pleasantly surprised to find some very nice vegetarian dishes, they were even marked as vegetarian on the menu. I did choose a wonderful dish....Vegetables in coconut curry sauce with a side bowl of rice. Not necessarily the least calories on the menu, but I figured seeing as I had a very light breakfast and this was lunch and I could still moderate my calorie intake at supper time, I was going to be within my calorie range. The meal was very delightful and the bonus....our supervisor picked up the tab! Merry Christmas!

Tomorrow is our Shy's 21st birthday. My children are all grown up now! The birthday person gets to choose if they want to go out for dinner or if they want a home cooked meal....Shy wants to stay home and wants "hashbrown casserole" for dinner and an ice cream cake for dessert! Love that girl...she has really helped out my pocket book! Not that anyone ever chooses an expensive place to go anyway, but this year things are a little tighter!

My Positives:
A busy day at work, the day flew by.
A lovely lunch out and paid for by our supervisor!
Kaeli is making a pot of homemade chicken soup for dinner tonight! YAY, I don't have to cook.
My Christmas parcels are all sent.
Holidays start at 2:30pm on Friday....and last until January 5th. Time to take care of all those last minute things!
Had a Reiki treatment last night that very renewing.
Friends who keep me inspired and encouraged by their caring.
God who shows me in so many ways that He loves me.

Love this quote:

Nothing will ever be attempted, if all possible objections must first
be overcome.

Wanda glad you enjoyed your lunch and what a nice treat from your supervisor. My mom would ask us what we wanted for a home cooked meal for our birthday, when I was maybe 12 I asked for Chop Suey and a butterscotch pie, she made a really good butterscotch pie. Your a good mom. Enjoy your two weeks off.

Wow, your lunch sounds like it was wonderful. I've never had Vietnam cuisine. That might be next on my list of places to try when I go to Columbus again. I'm in love with Indian food, personally. Soooo many vegetarian choices and so much flavor. Yum.

Where was I? I got sidetracked thinking about food! LOL!

I hope Shy had a happy birthday. It sounds like my kind of birthday celebration. My oldest will be 16 on New Year's Day. She wants a new year's eve/birthday party at her grandfather's house. Our house is so small and not well suited for parties, unfortunately. I'm a little torn up about the fact that she's turning 16. I can't even imagine the day she'll turn 21. *sob*

Take care and I hope you're having a beautiful Thursday!

Wanda, I love Asian restaurants...and it seems more of them here in RI & nearby Massachusetts are offering vegetarian dishes...which pleases me greatly! Tho' I do eat fish.

What's a hash brown casserole? HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY, SHY!

When I was growing up, my mom always asked what we wanted for dinner. We never went out to eat when I was a child unless my uncle took us for grandma's birthday and once a year for a "shore dinner." My choice was always Shepherd's Pie! I may have to try to make it with veggie protein this year!!

Hugs and enjoy your holiday time!

Brrrrrrr....it's cold outside! I'm so thankful for remote start on my vehicle. I had to start my vehicle about 3 times during the work day today. Wanted to make sure that it didn't freeze up on me. So nice to not have to go outside to start it and let it run for 10 minutes.

A busy day at work today, getting all the final orders input and ready to send on Friday. I'll send them all on Friday as it's my last day at work until January 5th. Yay...holiday time. Time to spend with friends and family enjoying the Christmas season.

My positives:
A lovely card in the mail today from Kathy...thank you and thank you for your new address.
Remote starter on my vehicle. I even have heated seats...so nice to slide into a vehicle where you don't freeze your tooshie off!
Bills are all paid now until the January ones begin arriving. I'm so glad that we don't use credit cards...that is one bill we never have to be concerned with. Only the utilities bills.
Family and friends.
God who watches over us and helps me to see the beauty in each day.

Have an awesome evening all.

Heated seats..... wow. I can only imagine. And I used to commute an hour one way. Some of those winter nights got a little cold. Some heat on my seat would have fit the bill nicely. Enjoy all of your blessings. I love how you list them. It reminds me that I am responsible to find the positives in my life.

Wanda - I used to have a car with heated seats too. They were very nice, especially on my back. I would love a remote car starter, especially on my dialysis mornings (5:30 am). I should've told Santa this year.... but Kevin & I aren't buying for one another so I guess Santa won't be stopping for me!

I'm so happy you're having a vacation coming up. Enjoy!

Love, Marla

Wanda, brrrr....It's 53 F here at the moment (2:51 AM) but predicted to drop into the low 30s with sleet & snow just in time for the commute home! YUCK! But I will be off work after today until Dec. 29th...Yea! Concentrating mostly on baking cookies for the holiday!

Stay warm, my friend!

Let's see: bills are paid, house is warm, everyone I love is happy and healthy, food in the house, car that runs, fuzzy kitties to cuddle with me, great dogs that listen when I talk to them. I could list much more because Wanda got me going and thinking and thanking.

It's colder than snot outside and I barely ever want to leave the house due to the cold (I live 1 mile from the Canadian border) so the warm house and healthy food are real treasures.

Yes, oodles of things to count as blessings as the Christmas Season draws more near.

Even my plants don't escape being decorated when Garry decides to help out with the decorating!

We had a lovely time celebrating Q's birthday. We had a family dinner out at Montana's Steak House. It was rather funny...as I watched and took note of what everyone ordered....I think my healthy eating is rubbing off on them...they all ordered a healthy meal and no one wanted dessert!
We had a nice time visiting as a family and reconnecting.

I'm not going to Yoga this morning, but am going for my massage. Somehow a couple of days ago, I moved funny and pulled a muscle in my hip and leg. Now when I put any pressure on it, it hurts, so figure that even though Yoga is light stretching and movements, it's not the best thing to keep irritating those muscles. Especially when some of the stands are one legged! Instead, I'll go for my monthly massage and have her work on it.

Very little snow to shovel this morning. so not much burning of calories, but they are predicting more for today. I'm hoping it holds off until this evening anyway, as I would like to go into the city and don't like driving when it's snowing.

My positives:
It's massage day!
A wonderful evening spent with family last evening.
Shy's birthday present bought...her birthday is Dec 18th.
Almost finished making the gifts I'm creating.
A weekend to relax in.
Reading a good book.
A warm house to live in, food on our table and friends and family to visit with.
My December "to do" list is almost complete.
God in my life, Who continues to bless me in wonderful ways.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look
so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been
opened for us.

I love that quote... I need to remember that with this move to the new house... I've been looking at it as a not so positive thing lately and just thinking about all I am giving up here... When there is so many good things to this move... Thanks my friend...

Love your positives... You always remind me to simplify... (It's been tough doing even that lately)

Oh and...Garry did a fine job on decorating that plant... lol

Psst... I got your Christmas card today... Thank you so much... I will put it on the mantel at the new place... It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas over there... lol

Enjoy your evening...

I love that quote you shared from Helen Keller! Thank you!!

Hugs and laughter,

Fabulous Friday Dec 12

Friday, December 12, 2008

The girls and I got into a cut-throat game of trivial pursuit last evening and that meant I didn't take the time out to do my blog. I managed to hold my own pretty well against the girls. Shy won! We had a great time. Winter time and especially Christmas time is when all the board games start surfacing around our house and the competitions are on.

A short blog this morning as it snowed over night and I need to get out there are burn some calories with all that shoveling.

My Positives:

I woke up this morning! Always a plus!
Snow to shovel...burning those calories and starting my day off with exercise.
It's Friday! and a Fabulous Friday to boot.
Family night tonight to celebrate Q's birthday from yesterday.
Yoga and massage to look forward to tomorrow morning.
Life is good, we have food on our table a roof over our heads and family.

Have a wonderful day, keeping moving forward, find your positives even if the day seems overwhelming. You'll be surprised how far a little positiveness goes!
